This is a brilliant spot for a coffee, snack or even lunch. It is clean, the staff are very friendly and the coffee delicious.

After a long day walking around in and outside of Linlithgow castle I needed a nice hot chocolate…read moreand shelter from the cold wind. Coffee Neuk to the left was the first coffee shop I saw and which stood out from all the other coffee shops around the market place. My first thought was that the prices are high and the food about average, because of the closeness to such a famous attraction. My expectations were "luckily" not fulfilled :-) When I entered, there was nobody at the counter and a couple was sitting near the window in the adjoining tea room. The place seemed deserted, but "oh mei" was I wrong, Within minutes the tea room filled up with people enjoying an afternoon chat with friends or tourists just getting in from the castle visit, like me. I had to order at the counter and was informed that the scones were sold old. Next choice was a piece of carrot cake and a mug of Hot Chocolate, which by the way was a Cadbury Hot Chocolate (just to point it out, as they appear to be very proud of the Cadbury logo). I took seat at a small table (1-2 people max, but really cute) and attempted my first bite of the carrot cake. What can I say? It was not dry, no, it was soft and juicy with a layer of cream cheese topping. The menu choices are limited, but what you get has substance. The staff is very nice, the prices very accommodating ( a lasagna for abt £4 ?!?) and the place very clean. I went to the toilet and when coming back my table was cleaned and no trace of me remained. Ah well, and so I continued forth on my journey back home.........

Yet another good coffee shop in the surprisingly small town of Linlithgow. Coffee Neuk is a more…read moretraditional coffee shop. It's a lot cheaper than some of the other cafes such Ebulum (previously reviewed). But this is really where its charm lies. The staff here are really friendly, though for a Linlithgow cafe that doesn't seem unusual. It is a tad small, but they make the most of the space. Unfortunately at lunch though this place gets pretty popular. Expect the usual sorts of hot drinks, as well as some snacks ideal for lunch. I had the soup of the day which cost me £2.40. That's pretty good, or at least average, for Edinburgh prices. But the portions were bigger than normal and it was served with decent bread. I like to think we Scots are proud of our soup but you'd be surprised how many times I'm disappointed by the poor quality soup served around Edinburgh! Coffee Neuk didn't disappoint though.

I can't help it, I love this dang store. I really need to give up donuts once and for all, but I…read morejust can't. I had ventured out to the outlets on a random adventure day and needed to find some cash for parking. I was running through the mall like a mad woman and obviously stumbled across this gem. It was still early enough in the morning to justify having a donut for breakfast, so I found an ATM, took out some cash and needed to break my cash for the parking ticket machine. I figured Krispy Kreme was as good as any place to break my cash. There's plenty of seating if you want to rest your feet after a long day of shopping and it's cozy and inviting. There was only one girl working and she seemed a little in over her head with the 4 people waiting to be served. She had just served a family with 3 kids and I was up next. She took my order and told me I'd have to wait a second to have my coffee made as she needed to make the previous customers coffees as well. No bother, I scarfed down my donuts while I waited. Yes, I said donuts, I ordered the pumpkin spice and the lemon meringue. Probably two of my most favourite donuts. Unfortunately, the pumpkin spice is only here for a limited time and I rarely see the lemon meringue. Ahh, oh well, probably for the best. I got my coffee and my change for parking and made my way back to the parking lot. I love this place, I can't help it.

The best thing about Krispy Kreme is of course the glass cabinet of wonder, which struck smudge dumb and immobile as the poor sausage tried to choose just one doughnut. I might be using this tactic of child control again during the very long summer holidays. We chose our doughnuts and a drink to sit in. The cafe is actually alright and if you are facing away from the greggs across the way an alright place to sit for refuelling. The doughnuts were exactly why we ordered - sugar, fat and sprinkles. In smudge's opinion the only food groups that matter. The americano was pretty grim but does anyone go to Krispy Kreme for the coffee?

I passed the other day and wondered why it was shut. Yesterday all was revealed, the "New BB`s" was unfurled to the public.. It looks amazing,,it has couches inside which are really bright, colourful & really eye catching. There`s not as many tables so there is much more room to move around freely. They now have half a dozen outside the shop, (some to the Iceland side, some to the Auld`s side). The food tastes better than ever for some reason, I opted for a flat white coffee & a blueberry muffin. It was simply brilliant. On leaving, my eye caught sight of some sticky toffee muffins. I was full and could not eat anymore so I got it put in a bag to take away. The sticky toffee was well finished off last night. Normally 2 muffins, 1 cola & 1 flat white would be less than £8. Plus BB`s accept the centre discount card for anyone like me who uses one.. I would have gave BB`s a 5 star, but had to chop one off because I have probably put on 2lbs.!
