On 27th April I took a trip into Glasgow for a wander and upon getting off the Train I nipped into Costa for a Coffee and a Toasted Sandwich. I have a slight disability and use a "walking frame" to get around and Costa is great, because it's spacious and, unlike other outlets, the staff are always gracious with regard to my condition, and the inconvenience my frame can cause.
Sadly I also suffer, occasionally, from mild bouts of sleep apnoea, which can cause me to lose consciousness for short periods of time, and I had such an occurence during this visit.
My Brain drifted off into wherever it is it goes, and I dropped an almost full cup of Latte, making a terrible mess of myself, the seating and the floor.
The staff, and in particular one Gentleman whose name I cannot recall, were tremendously gracious and helpful. The Gentleman I refer to brought a roll of paper towels, to help clean both me and the seat, and a mop and bucket, with which he cleaned the appalling mess I had caused on the floor.
I am sad to say that I have been in similar predicaments in other outlets, and I have been treated with disdain, and made to feel like nothing more than an inconvenience, but the Costa staff behaved in a manner that is diamettrically opposed to this. They were helpful, kind, understanding & completely caring.....AND my coffee was replaced free of charge!
I was made to feel like a Human Being and was treated with compassion and respect and I thank them for this.
I wish other outlets could borrow even a "bean" or two of the Costa ethos and make the world a much more comfortable environment for me, and for my fellow travellers, who face similar challenges on a daily basis.
Thank you.

PS: I meant to do this a day or two ago, and forgot. My memory was "jogged" by the fact that I am going into Glasgow again today and will be visiting the same branch for a snack. I say this because I want you to be aware that I am not "fishing" for a freebie. It may just have seemed like too much of a coincidence that a review popped up like this one, and then the "reviewer" appeared suddenly walking through the front door. Thank you all again for your kindness. read more
