This was not our first visit to Costa Azul. I'm fact during the pandemic we used their pick up service a lot. We are long time customers since they were in their first location (this is the third one as far as I know). However lately the service is not the best during their pick hours. On a Friday, 8:30 pm, we were walked to a table by a hostess that simply left the silverware in the center of the table and walk away. Waited for over 15 minutes and although more than 10/12 waiters/waitresses walked by us, no one came to serve our table. Some staff that appear to be senior staff were talking inside the cava and walked by us as well with the same result: nothing. After that we got up and started to walk away while one of their waitresses, standing by our table, simply said "-are you leaving because we did not wait at you?" We responded "no, no body came" . She had no reaction! Simply looked the other way. Not sure if there is an internal problem among the staff that is triggering this attitude. Their food is good for the most part (sometimes is a hit or Miss), but with this service, at some point the clientele will start to fade away. Visited with my family on a Sunday, the place was half full, I was greeted immediately and seated. We had two stuffed mofongos, one with chicken and the other one with steak and a breaded chicken breast with rice and beans. Food came out very fast, everything was delicious, we were all happy with our choices and really enjoyed lunch. The service was impecable, definetly recommend and will visit when I happen to be in the area again. read more

Driving up to the location in Manatí showed how secluded of an establishment this is. Parking is bountiful with a fenced in lot, ambiance inside the restaurant is quaint and sectioned. We sat by the bar, high top table and we placed our drink orders in the middle of a rush so service dragged a bit. Got our drinks; cocktails and juices and soon thereafter placed our food order. Again waited a bit for our food to arrive due to the rush (Wednesday night and the place is packed) but once it arrived.. oh my god. PHENOMENAL. I was absolutely dumbfounded by the amount of foot that got put into that food, and that's a good thing! Habichuelas perfection, carne frita perfection, arroz perfection, literally everything got put out and was the tastiest thing I have eaten in a long time. Being a chef in NYC I've come across a lot of chefs that try to push the 'home cooked' vibe and this place actually did it and at a mass scale. Didn't even take pictures I'm so upset about that but trust me, GO. Oh and the flan de queso actually tasted like cheese which is a 100/10 for me. I went here back in March on spring break with my girlfriend. The food was OK and the portions were good, but our waitress was terrible. She was very unfriendly, possibly because the restaurant was totally empty aside from us, and we were the reason she had to work instead of hanging out with the other 3 employees in the front who didn't have any work to do (at 8PM on a Wednesday night). For example she gave us a hard time for not ordering drinks with our meals and tried to pressure us into drinking when we never drink. My Spanish isn't very good (which may have been another reason for her unfriendliness), and so I spoke English. The worst part of the meal was that afterwards she held the pen and wrote her own tip, and (I'm 90% sure) pretended not to understand the smaller amount I wanted to give her due to bad service. I should have confronted her but I did not. Especially if you are not good at Spanish and don't want to drink, avoid this place! The other employees seemed generally friendly, but if you get the wrong waitress they may treat you like dirt. read more
