Art Coast Hotel! is a wonderful little place in Laguna Beach...My stay was peaceful, warm and Friendly ..Irlanda (The manager) is an amazing young lady, really polite and welcoming, from start to finish the hotel managemente made me feel at home ( Thank you Paul..Thank you Javier)..

Mold

I would give this hotel 1 star actually the front desk guy he was nice. But I felt like I was at a motel, who ever the cleaning lady is needs to be fired..... baseboards dusty, a dead fly on the floor, the curtains and walls nasty mold on the ceiling . I even said ew this is ghetto for Laguna beach. The water dispenser in the lobby had white film or nasty not clean at all. Please becareful. This needs to be reported to public health department

Stains on walls

The entire hotel experience was awful. I would not recommend to anyone. The hotel is not clean. Things promised on the website are not available, for example, a bowl of hard boiled eggs in the lobby is not a omelette bar. Customer service was subpar. Beach chairs that were listed as a perk of the hotel were broken. Pool was filthy and tiny. Our feet were black from walking in our bedroom barefoot. The list goes on and on. Save yourself the trouble and money. Find a different hotel.

Damaged bathtub poorly repaired.

WAY OVER PRICED for $385 a night. I will NOT be returning and would not recommend staying here. I do not understand all the positive reviews. Stayed here for anniversary trip and was EXTREMELY disappointed. Better off staying at a Best Western or similar. The good, the bad, and the ugly about the stay... The ugly... Light switch and electrical outlet don't match. Fire sprinklers are rusted and need replacing. Electrical cords dangling from back of tv. The bad... Damaged bathtub with different colored repair. Paint peeling from ceiling and along bathtub. Some weird black stuff on wall where it looks like mirror fell and wasn't put back up properly. Is that black mold?!?!?! No holder for toilet paper roll. The good... check in and check out was easy. Gentleman at check in and check out was polite.

I thought we…read morewould have to wait a long while, but the receptionist (Holly) checked us in immediately, and upgraded our room. She was friendly, professional, helpful, and accommodating. She explained all the hotel's amenities. In addition to the room charge, a $40 resort fee got us: 1. On-site parking; 2. Welcome sangrias; 3. Chocolate chip cookies each night; 4. A European styled breakfast each morning from 7am to 10am; 5. Wi-fi; 6. Beach chairs and umbrellas. Parking in Laguna Beach is a premium, so parking at the resort was great. The city of Laguna offers a free shuttle with a bus stop almost in front of the hotel. So we parked our car and took the shuttle all over town. The property is a well maintained, quant renovated 26 room Italian style resort. It's clean, charming, and has lots of character. It felt nice being at a small property and not at a large commercial hotel. We felt like we were back in Italy on vacation again! Just walking past the front of the hotel, you would not know that there is a luxury resort inside. They have a heated swimming pool (83 degrees), a sauna, and a secluded sun bathing lounge area and several other amenities. We opted for the heated wellness treatment which is a jacuzzi hot tub for two with mineral water. But they also offer single and couples messages and other message therapies. They have a quant internal courtyard for dining as well. We enjoyed a great European breakfast each day which was well prepared, fresh, healthy, and served by great hostesses. We especially liked the frittatas, fresh squeezed orange juice, hot coffee, and iced cold lemon water. The property is a historic landmark, so it doesn't offer handicap accessibility. So if you or someone in your group is in a wheel chair or uses a walker then this property won't work for you. Overall we really enjoyed staying here and would definitely go back again.

The service was excellent and can see that staff takes great care and attention to making sure everything is taken care of. We very much appreciated all the amenities this inn had to offer such as the welcome drink, evening cookies (delicious!), sauna, sunblock at the pool, towels, lovely breakfast.. all complimentary (breakfast with resort fee). We also appreciated the 10% military discount. We stayed in room 23 which was a standard queen bed with garden view and liked that spot because it felt central, private, and quiet. The room is on the smaller side but it was fine. It does not have a fridge but they provide an ice bucket. We ended up putting our bottled waters on top of the AC box and that kept it cool. Being that the inn is beautifully historic, there weren't many outlets inside the room. The bath robes were very plush. Both lamp shade knobs didn't seem to turn properly but we made it work somehow. Otherwise, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay and so glad we came. Aside from the inn, there is a walk to get to Victoria Beach. We walked south along Coast Highway to Victoria Place and found the underpass from there. We also took the free trolley outside of the hotel to get around town. It could be quite a wait for the trolley as we waited 30 mins. There is a QR code on the sign to track the trolley locations.

Taking off one star since I later learned that it is quite hard to get a hold of you guys via phone. My husband was trying to surprise me with champagne and flowers and said nobody returned his voicemail and he tried calling back several times after :( Our travel agent also said that it was hard getting a hold of you guys for booking as well but it eventually got solved. However, on-site staff is very accommodating. I particularly wanted to give Ha a shoutout for a complex booking situation that she handled with great ease and superb customer service. When I learned that she was still in training, I was so surprised since she handled it like a pro with her conflict resolution skills. She was so warm and friendly -- I felt like I was talking to a long-time friend. Management, please give Ha a raise if you are reading this. We were initially going to write this place off since both my husband and agent were having a hard time getting in touch with the front desk but our experience with Ha really changed my perception afterwards. Ha is truly a gem!

From the moment we entered the resort until we checked out, our experience was nothing short of perfect to be totally honest. I had high expectations when we arrived, and they actually surpassed that. Where do I even begin, first of all the entire place is beautiful. If clean, light, beachy/chic is your aesthetic, this place does not disappoint. The customer service was exceptional. EXCEPTIONAL. Cole initially helped us check in and even upgraded our stay to a presidential suite available! Honestly the most epic view and suite we could have ever booked! Thank you so much Cole! If the property was any closer to the water we would be in the water lol. So beautiful. I think this is going to end up being a staple getaway spot for us. If you are still deciding, I highly encourage you to book a stay here. We went to their restaurant for drinks and brunch the next day (cocktails, service, and food was amazing) , we booked a couples massage which was such a relaxing experience (both massage therapists were so kind and skilled), and we even laid by the pool which was also nice and relaxing. 5 stars in every category. If I could rate higher I would. Customer service from every staff member we spoke to was above and beyond. If you want to have a coastal luxury experience that actually exceeds your expectations this is it.

Rooms were spacious, clean, looks more newly renovated. I'm not sure if all the rooms do, but ours had a nice little balcony out the back of the bathroom. Nice selection of mini bar, lots of snacks and drinks to choose from, it's Wine o'clock Happy Hour in the lobby (free red or white wine with yummy warm cookies). The hotel lends out umbrellas, beach chairs, and towels if you want to go walk the 10 minutes to the beach. There are loads of restaurants and boutiques within walking distance too. I think it's $50 a night for a car? I'm not quite sure, but it was around there. It's quiet, convenient, clean, and we would probably stay there again.

That level of care and humanity is rare, and it did not go unnoticed. While I wasn't able to stay this time, this experience alone has made me a loyal customer. I will absolutely be booking here in the future and recommending this hotel to friends and family. Thank you again for your empathy and outstanding service during a very difficult moment.

Booking months in advance was an incredibly easy and transparent process. Because one of our favorite rooms was unavailable for the first two nights, we split our stay between two rooms. Room 201 sits just steps from South Coast Highway, so we did experience some noticeable street noise. However, moving to Room 209 for the rest of our trip was a dream--it offered beautiful ocean views, a double-door entrance that blocked out all noise, and excellent A/C that handled the August humidity perfectly. The amenities and service here are fantastic. Room service kept everything spotless with fresh towels, and the front desk provided complimentary beach towels for our time at the front pool. Location-wise, you can't beat it; Heisler Park is just a five-minute walk directly across the street. This area holds a special place in our hearts. I used to hang out at the coves off Cliff Drive when I was 18, and during this trip, my sister and I realized we both independently fell in love with the exact same spot years ago! The staff is incredibly friendly and dedicated to ensuring a great stay. With no hidden resort fees, The Tides offers unbeatable value compared to nearby mega-resorts. We will definitely be back!

My room was extremely clean for the duration of my stay. The gentleman who checked me out at the end of my stay was very pleasant. However, I am only giving three stars because first impressions are lasting and the woman who was working the Office check-in desk when I arrived made me feel like an annoyance who was interrupting her work. She was efficient but less than welcoming during the check-in process. Unfortunately, I had to interact with this woman two more times during my stay and each interaction was equally unpleasant. My goal in staying at The Tides was to destress but she made me feel like "Bad Dog". Soon after checking in, I had to return to the Office to ask for assistance with accessing the WiFi and a day later, I had to ask for assistance with accessing the pool. I assumed that I needed to use my hotel key to open the gate to the pool. The Office woman made me feel like a fool when she rolled her eyes and said in a tone that I interpreted as exasperated, "There's a latch at the upper top corner of the gate." She was right. There was a latch but it was painted the same color as the gate and I didn't notice it. I only noticed the key hole. My bad. As I floated in the pool, I said to myself, "You are Bad Dog." Someone needs to explain to this Office woman that without these pesky visitors, her business will have no customers and she will have no job.
