When I called I said I was a new client and needed a "really good" haircut with lots of layering, bangs, I have thick hair, the whole works. The original date I asked for was full and a different date was offered, I said yes, excited because I've wanted to try out this salon for a long time based on reviews/photos. When I went in, it was quiet - just 1 other person getting their hair done. After being seated my stylist suddenly seemed flustered by the time (we had a little over an hour before the place closed, which I hadn't realized before) and said she couldn't style my hair. To her credit she asked if I wanted a shampoo but I felt rushed and said we could skip it. I explained what I really wanted (a short wolf cut) but my only reservation was it was before a wedding, and she agreed it could look awkward. In truth I brought it up to gauge her reaction because I didn't want someone who wasn't enthused about it to make such a drastic change to my hair. No problem, had a safer backup ready to go, still with lots of edgy layers and the V-cut I love. Talked it out and showed a reference pic from all angles of this haircut. What I received was nothing close. My hair was cut bluntly straight across, my layers almost blend into the longest ends of my hair, and my face framing pieces are completely uneven. She did a good job on my bangs, though at the time, they were flying straight off my face. I'm talking almost 90 degrees. I was trying not to panic and reassure her at the same time so she didn't feel bad that I looked ridiculous, saying my hair just needed to figure it out and would settle. I walked out of the salon with one hand literally covering my forehead holding down my bangs trying not to cry and thankfully had a beanie in the car to throw over my head. I've gotten bad cuts before but never walked out looking wild like that. I will say - that experience has opened me up to try cutting my own hair at home, so I bought some shears and am looking forward to experimenting.

There is a comfortable waiting space where you can even have a cup of coffee and a biscotti. Oh yes, and you get a great, personally designed hair cut. I have been using the salon for years and I am moved to write this review now because I had one more wonderful experience with my last cut. Living in two states, CT and PA., I try to time my cuts to be in CT so I can go to HBD. Last month I had a terrible, awful hair cut in Philadelphia. Six weeks later, I arrived at HBD and could see, "What happened to you?" in Casey's eyes. And then, snip, snip, snip, she fixed it. I felt like myself again. A bad hair cut makes you feel lousy BUT a great hair cut makes you feel great. Thank You Casey! Fern Fisher

I was shocked at the pricing here -- $165 for a simple grey touch-up! Any other salon I have been charges roughly 90 dollars for the same service. For a basic color service, this is far above what's typical in our area. The work was ok, but the value for the money just isn't there, and I can't justify returning at these prices. This was actually my second visit. My first experience, just three weeks earlier, was very disappointing. I brought in a picture for reference, and the result looked nothing like it. I disliked it so much that I went home and contacted the salon to have it corrected. The original cost for the root touch-up plus highlights was $275. When I came back an hour later for the correction, the owner told me she had to charge me because I didn't say anything before leaving. I hadn't wanted to insult the hairdresser because she was sweet so I kept quiet at the time, but after going home, I felt strongly that I shouldn't have to pay $275 for something I didn't ask for. The owner then charged me another $67 to tone down the brightness, bringing the total for that day to over $350. I did not leave a tip for the second trip that day because I was not happy with the situation. Regrettably, I decided to give the salon another try, but had I known a root touch up would cost 165, I would never have given them another chance. Never again will I make the same mistake. And as a first time client, the owner charged me because I didn't speak up prior to leaving. I can't believe the owner treated a new client this way. 552 dollars in one month is insane! NEVER AGAIN!!

DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE AT THIS SALON!…read more The owner Traci does NOT care, once she gets your money. I chose this salon because I followed Jessica somehow on IG and her work "appeared" good. I showed her a pic of what I wanted she said she could do it no problem and I specifically said cover the grey in the front and she completely missed the front and the color does not look like the pic. I then had to go back and have the front done and again the color NOT what I wanted. Again, looks brassy exactly what I said I did not want and it looks like I have a month of regrowth. I called the Salon Monday at noon to speak to the owner (as I was there Saturday before Easter, I knew it was busy) and got a text from the hairdresser that day. I had to request from her to have the owner call if she was the one making a decision to refund me some sort of financial refund. Traci could NOT even take two minutes out of her day to call an unhappy customer. 48 hours later she texts me that she's busy with customers and can't respond asking "what is the problem?" She couldn't even call??!!! I responded back to her with the "problems" and she never responded. As a busy nurse, it was hard enough getting there. Her unprofessionalism is despicable. Hope others do not go through the same nonsense I did. I do not live around the corner to drive out there 3 times in a week! Hope you aren't unhappy with the final product because Traci doesn't care once she has your money.
