This is where all the bitches go of the two or four-legged variety. . , I came here to do some Christmas shopping with my "niece", since I had to put my own little gal down a few months ago I was feeling a little canine maternal and was on a mission to get some obnoxiously adorable Christmas clothes. They have the most AWESOME selection of dog clothes here. Tons of hand-knit sweaters, beautiful jackets (my favorite was a gorgeous dusky gold with silver faux-fur collar. Price? $120. EEKS! Sorry, but that's what I'll spend on something for myself. I can at least guarantee I won't rip it to shreds before Tuesday for no good reason. Lots of rich, stuffy, septuagenarians wheeling around Maltese dogs in specially made "doggy-buggys". You can buy those here too for about $600. Eavesdropping on their conversations is priceless, however. Enormous pet food selection and tons of organic choices for food and treats, even the rawhide treats are completely chemical-free. Also, they have a great selection of NFL/MLB stuff near the front where there is a huge "bakery" display of gourmet dog treats. One red coat, a jingle bell collar, a rawhide chew, and some doggy "baked goods" came to $103. All in all, not bad since I didn't splurge on the gorgeous leather, Swarovski-encrusted dog bags for $800. But I don't think I can fit a Staffordshire Terrier in one of those. read more

Had such a great experience here, I am constantly looking for a small business pet store to support, doesn't hurt that this place is across from Delicious Orchards either. Everyone wins! I go here specifically for the dog "bakery". I love making home made treats for my dog but who doesn't love an overly designed pupcake that will go completely unappreciated by your four legged friend? The workers are great, helpful, a little stalkery, but I think that's because there is never a lot of people there when I am there. The one time I went there, a tiny shihzu was running around without a leash on. I didn't like that, the customers dog could've ran out when I opened the door and then I would look like the jerk. Have some rules people! read more

I freaking love this place. A tad expensive for some things, but most are reasonably priced. I tend to just get my dog hoodies and collars, so those aren't among the most expensive things in the store. They have the BEST and prettiest selection of collars there. Some things are a little pricey there though...but i don't buy those extremely fancy things for my dog. I tend to go for the more cute shirts that say "I do bad things" or "spoiled" on them..LOL. There is also a location on Rt. 35 in Middletown that is more convenient for me at least because i am closer to the shore. read more

I've been an occasional shopper at the Colts Neck store since they opened. About a month ago I purchased a red plaid english dog collar with a plastic clasp. This morning, I found the collar on the floor of my kitchen with the clasp broken (clearly defective). I drove over to the Middletown store with the collar at lunch and asked to exchange it. It is apparent that the collar is relatively new as there are no signs of wear. I was told there was nothing they could (would) do without a receipt. The collar was paid for with cash. I had no reason to keep the receipt once I put the collar on my dog. Cosmopawlitan is a local business which I have frequently recommended. I am extremely disappointed with the way things were handled today and not only will never go back, but will never recommend them again. For a business dependent on local clientele and word of mouth, I am shocked that there was no attempt to satisfy the customer. read more

This joint is a disgrace. I recently lost my Dog and I decided to get a toy breed and I want to spoil him as much as possible. When my other Dog was alive, I would purchase a few things here and there. But now with a small Dog, I have gone in the store a few times and Cosmopawlatin is a very hostille environment-they follow you around the store and make decisons for you on what to purchase. Because of this, I have had to return a few items because I am new at owining a small Dog and I dislike incredibly to be followed around like I am some criminal there to steal Dog apparel. I do not know who is worse-the owner or the empoloyee who is there all week. The two of them are ridiculous and should be ashamed of themselves. Plus, most of their items are coverred in Dog hair. Newsflash-you have a DOG STORE-being 'posh' can oinly go so far. My LAST experience at the store was horrible but I was glad other poeple were coming in so I could make some of my own decidions. A lady came in with her Puppy off leash and I thought the owner was going to drop dead from a nervous breakdown-she chased the Dog around the store for what had to be 15 minutes and kept saying to the owner that her dog needs to be on a leash. After the owner of the Dog got her Dog on a leash she passed a comment to me about the hostile nature of the store but goes theree anyway because shopping online for Dog apparel is difficult. I agreed. The lady was infuriated that the owner was chasing her Puppy around-unbelievable. After spending about $400 and KEEPING those items, I went in today to exchange items that I bought with the pressure of the salesgirl breathing down my neck the entire time I was trying to pick out what I needed. As I said, this time, there were actuallhy some customers abouit the store and I was able to make informed decisions but when I went to exchange the two items the owner began harassing me about the exchange. Firstly, she tried to say one item was final sale-I bought this item even though it was covered in Dog hair. I asked her where is the sign that that item is final sale and it says nothing on the receipt about 'costumes' being non-returnable. The second item I returned was a harness-and of course, she harassed me about that as well stating that it was worn. IF YOU THOUGHT THE ITEM WAS 'WORN'-WHY WOULD YOU RETURN IT. She kept taking her glasses on and off and said I will exchange it this time but from now on, everything will be final sale because of how many items you have returned. I explained that I bought and KEPT about $400 worth of merchandise and I am new at having a small Dog but the real reason is because these people are standing behind you and influencing your deciions and I do not do well with that kind of intimidation. This place SUCKS and they should be ashamed of themselves treating people and their animals in that manner. If you still decide to go in this place, you will see exactly what I mean. Save yourself the trouble and go to Hoboken where the REAL 'posh' dog stores are. read more

Not only are they extremely overpriced, they have the worst attitude and customer service ever. No care at all for customer satisfaction. I would always rather support a small local business over a large retail chain, but this store will be the exception to my rule. I will shop at PetSmart where there are reasonable prices and friendly, helpful employees who treat you like a valued customer. read more

I have shopped at this store many times over the past ten years. They have very nice merchandise although a little overpriced. In the middle of this past winter I purchased a coat for my Westie and was advised incorrectly by the groomer (not a qualified salesperson) who was working in the store at the time. I was told it would fit, it didn't, I brought it back immediately, within an hour but the store just decided to close several hours early because it was supposed to snow. I returned it a few days later. This was a featured item, fresh inventory and was still on the front display. The fine print on the receipt states that "returns accepted within 14 days for store credit only". I asked an exception be made to the refund policy because this was new inventory and it was clear they would not have a problem selling it, it was unused with all of the tags on. I was told "no exceptions." I explained honestly there was just nothing I needed at the time, but since they would not bend on their policy I decided to use the credit as soon as possible because it was on a flimsy piece of paper that could be easily lost and I did not want to be out $60. This retailer DOES NOT keep a record of your store credit nor do they want to. So I found something I could buy and it was two dollars less than my credit. I was told I would not get change and would have a $2 store credit. This was ridiculous. I left the store and decided I would dispute this with my credit card company who supported the store with their refund policy. I take great pride in supporting local small businesses in my community. This small business comes across as greedy. Did they have to make an exception? Of course not. But it would have been the right thing to do in this case. I was a longtime customer and probably have spent well over a thousand dollars in this store over the years. I also recommended them for their unique and high quality merchandise, despite their high prices and most of their merchandise can be purchased online at much lower costs. What I asked for was completely reasonable. They could have re-sold the merchandise and kept a happy customer. I almost got the impression that they offer store credits and hope you will never use it (otherwise why don't they keep a record of it?) If you don't use it you lose it and they get to record a sale and keep their merchandise. It is not even a separate piece of paper, it is just a regular receipt and they highlight your returned item with a yellow highlighter and staple it to your original receipt. I have never seen this. Other stores gives gift cards or give you an official store credit written out and they track it in their system. This is not professional. Easier for you to misplace it and never use it. Nice merchandise, but beyond my store credit I won't go back, nor will I recommend them. Not a positive shopping experience at all! read more
