Wow. Really impressed to find such a great brunch place in a town this size. We had an awesome,…read morereasonably priced, gourmet breakfast under the trees at Il Postino. The omelette, the breakfast wrap, and the eggs with sausage all got rave reviews from our table, and the chai lattes were creamy and excellent. The flat whites are strong and not for the faint of heart. They also have Gluten free options on the menu and some amazing looking baked goods on display.

Great local cafe that serves really good coffee which you can enjoy in the beautiful leafy courtyard outside or inside by the fireplace. The food's good too, with even a few vegetarian and gluten free options. I stopped by for a coffee the other day and found very friendly service and considered taking up barista-ing as a fitness regime. Poor guy didn't stop for a second the whole time I was there. It's obviously a favourite place for locals, as take-away business was constant. And said locals are obviously lovely, a woman stopped by to say she'd had a coffee there yesterday and then suddenly realised in the middle of the night that she'd walked away accidentally without paying. She handed over her $4 and everybody smiled.

One of the few businesses to survive the total overhaul of Lawson intact, Ben Roberts cafe has lots of little nooks and crannies to sit in, as well as the patio outside. Wooden floors, floor to ceiling glass walls, lovely friendly service, good coffee and sticky date pudding if you want to go old school. The gallery out the back wasn't open today, perhaps they're getting ready for a new exhibition by another local artist. They serve lunches and glasses of Mudgee wines perfect for a weekend afternoon. Today I dropped in for a quiet coffee with my mum (she tells me the anzac bikkies are really good, a touch of ginger and nice and chewy) and looked out over the church and gardens.

I must admit the cafe itself was comfortable and the coffee was good; however, the service was…read moreterrible. I ordered the french toast and the bread was absolutely mush... inedible. I'm not one to complain but my friend I was having breakfast with decided to do so on my behalf. My plate was taken & the lady came back to inform me they were unable to make french toast that wasn't absolutely soggy as their bread is too soft & fresh. Although I was thinking this on the inside, I didn't say it out loud... perhaps they shouldn't make french toast if it's impossible for them. Anyway, she offered me toast with maple syrup drizzled over the top, ridiculous! I replied no thank you. I will just finish the bacon that was on my plate. She actually walked away laughing! My friend and I were amazed at this. It was very rude and by no means were we being unfriendly or unreasonable. I got my plate back with no utensils. Had to go back to the counter to get something to eat with. Anyway, this was the worst experience I have had with food, and especially with the service, in quite some time. I will definitely never go there again, nor will I ever recommend it.
