The very first time I went to a café on my own as a teenager, my coffee arrived with a free chocolate freckle on the side. I knew then that this was a lifestyle to which I could become accustomed. So it was with great delight that I found Kemp's Kafé a few years ago, who, on lucky days, serve freckles with their coffee.
A lovely homey-style café with staff who remember your regular order, use mismatched vintage crockery and serve up a menu of goodies that are freshly prepared, universally tasty and good value. The Turkish toast with ricotta and honey is a perfect brunch. They welcome kids, with a small play area available and have a selection of gluten-free options not common for the area.
