We were extremely nervous initially due to the valuable furniture, piano and personal belongings that were involved in the move. Not recommended. their Contract and quotes mean nothing. second quote changed from first with no explanation. Then They were supposed to bring four men and a large 52' truck to move two houses together into one house... Brought only three men and a 26' truck then wanted to double the quoted cost to get the second house. Quote to add was more than original quote. read more

I was very nervous about getting scammed for my move across the country (2000+ miles), and movingscam.com was very helpful in providing valuable information. I was paying for the move myself, and wanted a good deal, but also wanted to have my stuff taken care of. I thought about ABF and Broadway Express, but I did not want to load and unload myself, and the price difference wasn't worth it. I got three in-home estimates (United Van Lines, Atlas, Wheaton), and ended up choosing Corrigan Moving Systems with United for several reasons: 1. Excellent reviews on movingscam.com 2. Corrigan have an office based in Ohio. BBB endorses them and said they didn't have any complaints since 2008. All previous complaints were resolved professionally. 3. Corrigan were very responsive, and willing to work with me on price. It was almost $1000 less than the other companies' quotes, even if I had to shuttle at origin and destination. They also do not charge for destination shuttling. 4. United Van Lines is large and reputable Corrigan did not disappoint, and I am extremely satisfied with the move. There was a question about requiring a shuttle at origin, but they did not put it on the original binding not-to-exceed estimate in case I did not have to use it. They did provide me with a quote of how much it would cost (about $350 extra). My driver arrived the day before with his truck to figure out where he might be able to park it and not charge for the shuttle. Amazingly, he found a space, and saved me $350. He arrived at both the origin and destination exactly within the one-hour window he said he would with his help. He also called me the day before he arrived to confirm the timing. I had an 8-day window for the arrival of my stuff in Cincinnati, but the driver gave me a day within that window at origin, and stuck to the schedule. My stuff ended up being 3000 lbs instead of 2750, but Corrigan honored the not-to-exceed estimate and did not charge me extra. I packed 50 boxes myself, and they wrapped and disassembled/reassembled furniture. Nothing was lost, and the only thing that broke was a wire fruit rack, and that was because it was packaged poorly by me. All of my large glass frames and mirrors were intact. The driver and his help were professional, efficient, and were careful with all of the stuff. I would definitely use them again the next time I have to move. Since I was moving as a single mom with 2 small kids I had a lot of questions about the crew in my home for safety reasons. I was told they would be all background checked and employees of the driver or Corrigan. When I saw a few things like the crew getting paid in cash I asked the moving coordinator and was told it was basically not my business. I was not allowed to know their names. (My full name is on my work ID). Actually it is my business, I am paying for a service and it is my job to protect my kids in my own house. I had heard they will sometimes use day laborers to save money on insurance and taxes and I specifically did not want this. I was told this is how the moving industry works. If that's the case then you tell customers this when they ask so they can look elsewhere. I was given names and told they were from local companies and background checked however after weeks of them not wanting to answer the question I am still hesitant if they are being truthful. Everything went ok overall however there were other things like the United truck was mostly full when they got to my house. So most of my shipment went on a Uhaul. When I asked about this she told me I should be grateful it is not being sent to storage and will come down on another trip by another driver. I made the payment the way they asked using their link. I got another email the weekend before the move asking me to pay again as they had a new payment method. I checked my CC first and there wasn't a charge so I paid again with the new link. Mid shipment I get a VM from the moving coordinator that they don't have the payment and he will not deliver my items until this is done. So I checked my CC and there was a charge from the second time. I called back and told her someone had my money. She never called back to say she found it. I had to call and ask. They also said I would have 3 crew on loading day. Only 2 came. It was a long day they initially said would be shorter and of course people looking at their watches wanting to be home. They really didn't want to move the 3 dressers upstairs as they were concerned with the damage to their future testicle function. The "Bingo" sheet is very outdated and hard to keep track of numbers. They don't even use colors anymore. There is a tiny bit of color on the top white part of the sticker that you can barely see. That was supposed to keep items from others getting mixed up. They make you signed off everything before you leave. It took me 3 weeks to open boxes. The driver was very kind and hard working however when signing the papers he instructed me on how to answer the survey questions. You cant do that. Another service with contractors involved and bad customer service. You just have to hope everything goes ok. I would pay more to find another way. I just had no time with two toddlers. Although Yelp said I was too far away to check in, Corrigan came and moved us yesterday from Michigan to Nevada. I found the entire process to be very satisfactory and stress-free. Everyone that I came into contact with was very friendly and helpful. They packed my belongings with so much care. Of course it's not cheap to move an entire home across the country, but they were also awesome in their pricing as well. I can't think of one negative thing to say about my experience with them. The whole move was great. The movers introduced themselves and were very professional. They packed what we had requested and did an excellent job, not one thing was broken or damaged. They laid out runners at both locations keeping our carpets clean. On the delivery end they were extremely helpful in arranging the furniture and suggesting how the furniture would fit better in a room. We also did not check all of our boxes before discarding them and we took our boxes back to them for disposal. I called them and let them know some items were missing. They looked thru the boxes and located a couple of the items. The office people were fantastic from the person giving us the quote to the office manager who kept in touch with us before and after the move. The quote we received was almost right on, and in the end we actually paid less than the quote. We would highly recommend Corrigan to any one.
