I think you should give these guys a break on the bad reviews. They're Chaldean and just seem rude (travel to Israel or an Arab country). Basil and Simon actually have good senses of humor. But they have given me great deals a number of times and are very honest. Their lot out back is small and they don't like it blocked, but they will serve you promptly--and courteously. This is my first 1 star review based solely on the way I was treated. I like to be impartial with whatever statement I leave for a business and I like to watch businesses thrive. So read my review with a grain of salt. I cannot comment on their technical services because I never received any. I went there for an oil change for my girlfriend's car and spoke with the older employee who gave me an attitude for coming in on an afternoon. Does he not know the value of customer service? I just met the guy. I found out why he thinks he can treat people that way. Apparently this is the only oil change station on the whole island because when I asked (kindly and patiently) if there's another oil station nearby, he flat out replied, "NO." and basically shoo'ed me away. I told my girlfriend to go back another time with her car. I forgot to warn her about their customer service (or lack there-of). She was scared off by them in a similar manner (ie. rudeness with a man talking to her while he was on the phone, being told that she could not leave her car because there would be no room to maneuver around their tiny lot, etc etc). They're totally unwilling to compromise. Anyways, if all you want is a $30 oil change, get there early and don't expect to be treated with kindness. But it's my assessment that it would be less irritating to drive somewhere else to get the job done and get treated with respect. And if this business tries to contact me, you've already had your second chance. It shouldn't take a yelp review to make you operate like any business should. read more

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE! ... AND they messed up my car! I came here to get an oil change and the older gentleman in the service uniform turned me away because I couldn't stay to wait for the car. I said, "Look, I have a baby and my mother in the other car and we are on our way to the urgent care center. Can't you help me?" He snapped, "NO! Bring it back when you can wait. I have no place for you if you can't wait here." Jeeez!!! I was desperate because I didn't have time to get the car back home and then head to the urgent care, so the argument continued. He finally relented, saying that as long as I could be back in an hour he would do it. But now I wish I hadn't let him work on my car. We returned in time and he basically just took my money and that's it. I had to ask where my car and my keys were, and he just snapped back at me. I guess I was supposed to know that information? Now my car is leaking oil, and there is a puddle of oil in my garage and every other place I park for more than 20 minutes. I wish I had taken his advice and left without getting any "service" completed by his pathetic excuse for a garage. AWFUL people. AWFUL service. AWFUL experience. read more

I brought my car to their shop simply out of location convenience. I was nervous because so many of the other yelpers had complaied of bad service and rude attitudes. I have to tell you, my experience was totally opposite. I dropped my car of with Pasil. He wrote me up and cracked jokes and was very pleasant. Throughout the day Simmon called me to keep me posted on what was going on. Now these guys could have had me do all these extra services and I probably wouldn't have know the difference. They were honest and even saved me about $200 bucks. I will definitely be back. read more

Nice place to gas up on Coronado. All gas on Orange is the same price. This location is better lit than the valero up the street. We feel it is safer for an early morning fill up before taking the rental back to the airport. read more

Coronado Union 76 - Gas Stations Near Me - Coronado, California

These guys just tried to Charge my 70 year old Mother in law $850 to change two tires on her Minicooper. I checked with discount tire and the exact same tire change will cost $440 with them with free lifetime re balancing at any store. I know there is a convenience fee for being on the Island but as with their rip off gas prices this is simply price gauging and verging on elder abuse (She only went in to get the tires pumped up but was told they needed changing - I am waiting to hear from discount tire if this is even true). I give them no stars and would like to turn in this location for the following reason: I have a slow leak so i stopped at this location which is down the street from my house to fill my tire with air and the attendee gave me coins to put in the pump. The next day my husband and I went to the gas station for air and he refused to give him the coins and said he had to pay. I am white and my husband is black. Hmm could he be a racist? I have used this station many many times in the past years. I have ONLY found the staff to be friendly and available to assist at all times. I work in a Hotel on Coronado and have sent many of my hotel guests to Coronado Union 76.. The brothers and their Dad have" bent over backwards" to accommodate my guests ... even sending someone to pick up a car for a cleaning andthen returning it. I used this repair shop for the first time since I work in the area and needed to have it done during the business day. I had my both my front shocks, springs, ceramic brake pads, rotors resurfaced, headlights buffed, and an oil change done. He showed me the aging parts afterward to make sure I understood that the repairs were necessary. Mission Valley Honda and a repair shop in Pacific Beach quoted me over 1400-1580. This place did it for a little under 1000. Even had my car cleaned. There isn't a waiting area, but who needs one when there is tons of eateries and shops next door. Very convent full service station that has never done me wrong. If you want cheap gas (or cheap anything for that matter) do what everyone else does and go to Costco or a strip mall in National City. Rent is high in Coronado and you will help pay it when you shop anywhere to include the 76 Station. In exchange for this "convince fee" you will have the luxury of being able to safely walk a couple blocks to the beach or you can window shop tons of stores while your car is serviced. Walking in either direction along Orange Ave. will take you by numerous friendly restaurants, bars and coffee shops within a couple blocks. If you want to enjoy the day while your car is serviced this is the place. read more

They wanted $150 for a Mobile One oil change on a Mercedes. That's more than the Mercedes dealer charges. Who do they think they are? Their gas is almost $5 a gallon and most everyone is very rude except for one guy in particular. Over all this place just puts it to you because they know they can. I went through these Yelp reviews and I'm just shocked. People are ridiculous. First of all, there's a different in gas prices mainly because the gas station is in Coronado, not San Syidro. Plus, gas delivery trucks are not allowed to cross through the Coronado bridge. That's like complaining about a steak price that you get from Denny's versus a restaurant in La Jolla. I have been to this gas station many times and I have been treated so kindly by the brothers and their dad, Basil. They try their best to save customers money at the mechanic shop. A buddy of mine just took his car in to this auto repair shop for an oil change and now it is leaking oil. Another friend also took his car and now it idles funny. At a stand still, it will idle and then bog down and idle up and keep going up and down. Their service sucks and I don't know how they even got a mechanic certification. DONT GO HERE! read more

Basil is awesome! I got my master cylinder for my clutch replaced here and when it broke due to some issues with poor quality parts, he replaced it for free even though it was one month out of the warranty period. I spoke with Basil about some of the customers that have posted poor reviews because he has always provided exceptional service to our family here in Coronado. He explained that some of his customers want to leave their car at his gas station all day while getting a one hour oil change so they can have a free place to park while they go to the beach. The issue is that the station only has limited parking spots so he cannot keep the cars all day if all they need is an oil change. If you talk with him he will show you all the cards and letters he receives from his long-term happy customers. Maybe he should just not do the oil changes and just focus on repairs. read more

I was concerned about the large number of negative reviews but, I was temporarily house bound and the tire pressure indicator on my car was showing a substantial tire pressure difference so, I needed to act.. I called 76 and asked if they would assist my wife in correcting the tire pressure issue. They said they would so I sent her over. Sure enough, they promptly greeted my wife on arrival, and quickly , courteously and efficiently fixed the problem. They charged $5.00 but, it was worth it! read more

This is the second and final time i will be bringing my car to this station. I live so close that its a 30 second walk after I drop my car off. Very Rude! I arrived at 8:15am. The attendant asked what I needed and I said I needed a refill for my propane tank for my grill. After rolling his eyes and acting like I was really troubling him, he set his coffee down and said, "ok, but we don't usually fill propane tanks til 9am". I said, "Well, your sign says you start filling at 8am, so I can go someplace else". He relented, but I won't go there again. The only reason I let him fill my propane tank is that I had already taken it out of my car. Then while paying, he said it was just that no one else was there while he was out back. He has done a variety of work for my family including replacing an engine in a Miata, replacing a clutch in my Honda Accord, and making sure all of our cars run smoothly. My wife and I got a low tire pressure indicator on our car while in Coronado. She went in to ask the attendant to activate the tire pressure machine. He told her it did not belong to him and he could not turn it on. I went and talked to him and he told me it belonged to Union 76. When I mentioned that it was on his property and his station was a Union 76 station, he told me I needed to buy gas if I wanted to use the machine. I could have put 75 cents into the machine. But then I thought about all the people, especially military wives whose husbands are overseas that might stop at the station for air that would get the same treatment that I got and I decided to voice my disappointment with this station by not doing business with them, by writing this review, and by calling Union 76 corporate. read more
