One thing: With Always Construction, when bids are submitted, it's best to make sure that all the elements you are expecting from the project are stated there in writing. On his roof bid, he merely said he would seal the skylights, and since they are a part of the roof,I assumed everything having to do with the skylights would be included--not the case. One skylight had to be replaced. This was a misunderstanding, and we worked it out. Obtaining quality work in Santa Fe is not easy, and Always Construction provided it.

Some time ago I bought a $200+ Gallagher rodent trap that did not work and reported this to a store clerk. He replied that I was the only one who had made such a claim. I later learned that an Eldorado friend had complained about her non-functioning trap to the same clerk and he told her the same thing. Sometime later, I returned to the store to complain about the trap not working. The clerk admitted that a number of these traps were indeed malfunctioning and was told that they were waiting for parts. I regularly checked in over the weeks and was told each time that they were still waiting for parts. Some time later, I returned to the store, and the clerk took a look to see if he could fix it. After checking in with him over the next few weeks, he finally called to say he had repaired it. However, I soon discovered that the canister part was still leaking. Some time later, I returned to the store and spoke with Steve. who gave me the number to the manufacturer to call and arrange a shipment and exchange. At that time, Steve stated that he takes care of his customers. When I called, the manufacturer rep asked why the store wasn't handling this. I realized that I, a regular customer, was caught in a shipment war between Steve and the manufacturer. Not cool. Some time later, I returned to the store and spoke with the clerk, who took my faulty trap and added it to a box containing other parts and traps behind the counter. He said that they were going to ship it to the manufacturer for exchanges. Finally, the issue with my expensive purchase would be resolved. Not so. Some time later, I returned to the store and noticed that the box was still behind the counter, weeks later. I asked the clerk about it, and he said they were still arguing over who would pay for the shipment. I wrote to Steve last week that it is well past time for him to either replace my purchase with a working trap, reimburse my purchase, or credit me the $200+. I've not heard back.

I had a ~10' conifer that I needed a price to transplant from the front to the back yard. Obv. having this done would only make sense if the cost to transplant was less than just buying a similar tree to plant in the back (then cutting down the one in front)[sorry, but as much as we like the current tree alive, it had to be an economic decision]. Short version of the story: I was quoted a very reasonable price to have the tree moved/transplanted, Mencos' crew (5 guys) was out the next day, and did a fantastic and quick job. Took them about 1.5 hours to dig out a big root cluster with dirt, strap the tree to a beam, and lug it to the back and re-plant it. Even shorter: I'd definitely hire them again for any tree work or landscaping, and plan on getting them back out to do a drip irrigation system for the front once we have it all planned and planted out.

Just wanted to give credit where credit is due: I've had great experiences with the people @ Coronado! I only had a small project to work on (one room) but I needed some paint, needed help with choosing and mixing the best colors and picking out carpet. I was very satisfied with the help I got from the sales people here and they were willing to stay within my budget and they didn't try to sell me a bunch of other stuff that I didn't need. I'm planning to go back and get blinds now. I like this place a little better than the big warehouse chain stores. The service here was more personable than what you get at the other places. He constructed the gates himself and made them exactly as we'd agreed. I have to say, not only were we pleased, we were actually a little astonished by the beauty of the gates--the craftsmanship and technical expertise and timeliness of the whole project. USE W CAUTION! Had a leak in my bathroom. Suspected it was behind the cabinet. Called Klaus and…read moreasked him to remove the back of the cabinet to expose the pipes. We noticed some mold and that was quickly removed. He came w two young guys and a dehumidifier (which he left on for the week). When I checked back w them after an hour, Klaus had DRILLED 3/4" HOLES ALL ALONG MY CABINET BOTTOM and in the sheetrock (12 total)!!! We NEVER discussed this! He actually did DAMAGE while I was not in the room! I asked him why he did this. He claimed that it was to "air it out" and that it was "easy to repair" by installing a wood strip over the holes! Wow, not what I wanted for sure. Two thing Klaus kept asking me the entire 2 hrs that he was at my house was 1.) is this going to be a homeowner insurance claim, and 2.) he wanted to REMOVE the cabinet, and even suggested coming at the leak from the OUTSIDE of the house! The literally cut through our exterior wall. Months went by as we tried to close the leak (which we did). In the meantime Klaus sends my a bill for $700! For what? Doing damage in 2hrs?! I told him to COMPLETE the job by repairing the damage he did and I would pay him. That was Summer, now it's Winter and Edelweiss has done 0. And the leak was in the floor.
