This smog check business was very unprofessional and participates in false advertisement. They advertise online and on their own website to be $36.75 with a coupon digital or paper. I showed up and the maintenance professional hooked up my car without talking about pricing. After he completed the smog check he handed me the bill and I showed him the coupon. He would not honor the coupon and said I need to show it to him before he touches the car. I had to pay $61.75 plus $8.75 for the certification fee for a total of $70.50 False Advertising. read more

I've been a customer here for over 10 years and drove from the opposite side of town, and today's experience on Christmas Eve was honestly shocking. After asking for service on propane tanks, I was left alone to load the full propane tanks in pouring rain. (Not their responsibility, but it makes the rest make sense.) I'm a young woman (26), wearing a cotton hoodie, completely soaked and dripping by the time I finished. During that time, the owner ran off to help another customer. After loading the tanks, I got back into my car--my mistake--but I never left the parking spaces area, never put the car in gear, just sitting there trying to dry my phone off enough to put instructions in. The owner then sprinted outside, banged on my car windows, and yelled at me that I hadn't paid. I immediately apologized and said I'd be inside in just a second to pay. Instead of accepting this, he threw his hands up and said, "Come on, lady!" like I was trying to steal from him. This whole time was maybe 6 ish minutes. He probably waited less than 2 minutes for me. There was no other customer at this point. Inside, I calmly told him that after being a loyal customer for over a decade, being treated like a criminal--especially while soaked and loading propane tanks in the rain--wasn't okay. He responded by saying he would call the cops if I drove off, even though I was clearly still there, out of the car, and had already had my card in the reader. I explained it was Christmas Eve, I was running around stressed, and I apologized again. He continued going after me, dismissing my frustration and saying, "I'm also in the rain," despite wearing full rain Jacket while I was drenched in a hoodie. I wasn't yelling or causing a scene. I was upset and embarrassed, and yes, I got a little teary eyed after the interaction--but that came after being yelled at, chastised, and treated like a thief. When I finally walked out to leave, he followed me and told me I "needed to calm down" and should "drink water," which felt condescending and inappropriate. This was an incredibly unprofessional and unnecessary interaction. I never left the property, never attempted to steal, and did not deserve to be treated this way--especially as a long-time customer. I won't be returning, for smog or propane or gas or anything. read more

I brought my vehicle here to get a smog check. I called ahead of time to see what the cost was. He (whoever it was that answered the phone) said, if you bring the coupon, it will be $37. I told that person that I would be there around 1pm. When I entered the service bay, there was no one at the desk. I called to some other service guys and they said he was in there. He (Eric Tavares, as I learned his name from the paperwork I received after my visit) was asleep in his car. When they called him, he popped up his head. He asked me what I needed. I said I needed a smog check. The information below is to the best of my ability what I remember. Keep in mind, I am a woman. Eric: What do you need? Me: I need a smog check. Eric: Do you have the paperwork? Me: What paperwork? Eric: Never mind, I can do it without the paperwork Me: But what is the paperwork you require? Eric: I can do it without it. Me: But what is it? What paperwork do you need, my registration, my VIN#? Eric: Lady, I SAID I CAN DO IT WITHOUT IT? Me: OK, but what is "it"? Eric: I already told you 3 times that I can do it without it. Do you have the key to your car? I handed him the keys and he did it with great expediency. That was the best part of my encounter with him. Eric: OK, you passed. Come over here to the desk to pay. Do you have the coupon? I handed him the coupon and then said: Me: You know women do not know much about cars and mechanical things. You might want to be a little more informative about your needs so a customer can accommodate your request. Eric: Look, I said I didn't need the paperwork. Why do you keep talking about that? Me: I was just trying to help you and let you see from the customer service side. Eric: I don't need you to tell me how to do my job. I have a degree and more schooling that you have probably. Me: You are certainly very rude. Where is your manager? Eric: I am the manager!! (he yelled) Me: You most certainly could not be the manager the way you are talking to me. You are being very rude and insolent. Eric: You know I said I was going to charge you $37, but I'm charging you $40. You need to shut up. Me: I am not paying $40. I am paying $37. Eric: Well I'm charging you $40. Me: Then I am not paying. Eric: I'm going to call the police. Me: Call them then. I will most certainly tell them what happened here. Eric: Ok, I'm charging you $37 but you need to shut up. I'm tired of hearing you. Me: Did you just tell me to shut up? (as I was putting my card in the slot to pay) Eric: Yeah be quiet. I bet you go around thinking you are so smart talking to people any kind of way you want to. You're really stupid. I told you something 3 times and you still did not understand. Me: I was asking you a question and needed an answer. Eric: I said shut up!! I'm tired of hearing you. (yelling) Me: Just get me my paperwork so I can get out here. Eric continued talking saying things like I can't believe you are so stupid and I kept interrupting him saying I was going to call the BBB on this establishment. Later on when I got home, I discovered he had attached the incorrect voucher to my receipt, someone else's smog check certification. I had to go back up there but I took my son with me so he would not treat me the way he had. There was a slight argument but he got the message about messing with my son's mom!!! Do not take you car to this place for any services. The customer service stinks. If I could put ZERO I would, as that is a more appropriate rating. read more
