It has always been one of my fav things to take my two puppos to the dog park and I just moved here from CA. As a disabled veteran I find it very therapeutic to watch my dogs have a good time socializing with their buddies. When I first arrived one of my dogs was a lil nervous about being at a dog park they were not familiar with. I tried to get him in a relaxed state before entering the gate and once he was calm I let him in. He was immediately swarmed by all the other doggos, this is expected and most new dogs are greated this way when entering a dog park. My dog didnt take it so well and was over excited so he growled and stood his ground to get the dogs away as he scoped out the new park. I tried to get him to relax again but the other dogs would not give him a chance to distance himself and soak in the new park. This was not a concern of mine however, the owners of the other dogs started freaking out and screaming like their dogs were being murdered which freaked all the dogs out even more and a couple of them started showing aggression, including mine, and went in a defensive state. I was there for less then 3 mins before they started telling me to put my dog on leash and asking me to leave. and I quote one of them said "you need to leave or we will" I was completely humiliated and mortified that the 5 owners that were their were treating me and my dogs like this. They didn't even give us a chance. My dog doesn't even bite he just shows teeth when he is in a high energy environment. and all the owners screaming bloody murder weren't helping the situation. I have never been asked to leave a dog park and have never had owners react the way they did when a brawl broke out. I dont know if it is just a socal chill thing or if this park just had a tight knit dog click and they weren't interested in new comers but they were completely rude and and unwelcoming. Needless to say, I cried my heart out and I am now terrified to ever go to a dog park ever again. I get anxiety every time I think about what happened and how we were treated. read more
