Luckily she was honest and said it was from the restaurant. The restaurant closed early for new years so the smell subsided. The next day, it was GROSS. Also, unsure why but both nights we were awake from 12am to 3am. The bathrooms are exceptionally small and the rugs need to be updated. The desk chair was pretty comfortable! The pool was heated the first day but felt cooler on the second. Towels were provided. Gym facility is amazing!

I loved the use of large candles in the fireplaces to replicate the light of a fire. Our meals were from the Prix Fixe Menu for $50 per person. I was delighted to see later that Lost Fox Inn advertises a Prix Fixe Menu on Thursdays for $60 per person. I enjoyed the Corn Chowder soup appetizer, which was different from any chowder I've ever eaten but very flavorful. My main course was Orecchiette, a delightful maitake and shiitake mushroom pasta dish that is flavored with lemon, pecorino Romano, rosemary, oregano and topped with breadcrumbs. Dessert was a chocolate mousse topped with pickled blackberry and mint. Really delicious. We booked an early dinner and were delighted to find that we were the only ones seated in our small dining room. As the hour progressed, more and more people filled the room, and interestingly each group took advantage of the restaurant week menu (many of the items are on the regular dinner menu). The wait staff was very attentive, checking in and answering questions about the menu items. I look forward to a return visit because the food was really outstanding.

One of the staffers followed children into my hotel room, when we sent them up for quiet relax time, and held the door oden while trying to go in. It was incredibly stressful for the kids on the team. They didn't try to work with either team, they just wanted to kick us out. Between the 2 team there, we brought the hotel in $25,000 (easily) that weekend. But they treated us so poorly.

Other than our server having a temporary memory lapse about the flavor profile of sorrel , service was pretty much perfect. Friendly. Helpful. Efficient. For example, our server was able, at our request, to serve Belden House's famous chocolate chip cookies even though they weren't on the dinner menu. They were delicious. The food ranged from good to very good. My wife and I split (1) sourdough focaccia and cultured butter; (2) shrimp with fennel in a sorrel sauce, (3) pappardelle with pork shoulder; (4) green garlic linguine with clams, preserved lemon and sake; and (5) Short Rib with persimmons and sunchokes. The bread was very good. The shrimp had good texture and that dish was cool visually. I was a fan of both pasta dishes. They both had a nice acidity, which you don't always see with pasta dishes. The shredded pork was tasty. The short rib wasn't a highlight for me, but it was good. It had a firmer texture than I'm used to. They even accused us of bringing the fleas with us, without offering a single apology or showing any concern for a child's health. They offered us another room, but according to the same housekeeper, that room hadn't been opened for 2 or 3 weeks, so there was no way we were staying there. A filthy place, with zero hygiene and absolutely no compassion. Booking.com should immediately review and remove this type of property so other families don't have to go through the same nightmare.

We enjoyed the rehearsal dinner on the porch of the building next to the large silo. It was right before sunset, so we got to enjoy the gorgeous view of the land, trees, and lake while the August sun went down. There were tons of beautiful flowers blooming around the grounds, and we enjoyed lawn games on the rolling green grass. The next day, for the ceremony, we were located down by the lake. The ceremony took place on a lawn in front of a beautiful old tree, facing the water. Afterwards, we made our way into the old barn and enjoyed cocktail hour and the reception. The space was well designed and the whole experience was magical; candles and simple draperies. A beautiful breeze flowed through the venue as the rumble of thunder echoed in the distance. Despite the thunderstorm that passed through, we were safe and dry inside the barn. All in all, one of the most beautiful and magical wedding venues I've seen.
