I'd just moved to Palm Springs and was still trying to recover from spinal surgery that had left me with crippling nerve damage to my legs. Once I got set up I quickly started looking for a well staffed and fully equipped facility that could understand my injury and provide the specific therapy I needed to reach a complete recovery. My PCP recently referred me for PT due sharp pain in both hips that seriously affected ability to walk, climb stairs, sleep, etc. Giselle at Reception was my first contact. She was kind, responsive and hurried into action to schedule appointments for literally immediate care. As treatment continued, Giselle took the time to reconfirm my appointments every week so no time was lost and I received optimum advantage. JC Vargas, Clinical Director/PT was the next step. I have two broken ankles & have been in bed for 8 weeks. Two weeks ago I started physical therapy at Cornish Physical Therapy in Palm Desert, CA. This facility is the best physical therapy establishment I have ever been to. In two weeks that they have worked with me I now can stand up & I am learning to walk with a walker. It's sad I can only give 5 stars. My husband and myself have had pt in the past and have been to many practices in the Coachella Valley. None even comes a close second to Cornish. Cleanliness 5 Equipment 5 Knowledge 5 STAFF 10 if I could! All the therapists are not only very good at what they do, they really connect with their patients, which is rare if find one in an entire office, yet that's all they seem to staff. As well intended as they were, I have found Dwight & Jeannie Cornish to exceed my expectations with not only treatment, but office protocol as well. I needed to find a good physical therapist for my mom after her hip surgery. Since I'm out of town, I went on Yelp and called around. I was really impressed with the lady who answered my questions and helped me set up the appointment. She said her care would be with the therapist and no aids, and I felt comforted by that fact! After a few sessions, Mom was making amazing progress in her recovery, and I'm so relieved that she will have independence and mobility sooner than expected.  Cornish Physical Therapy really took care of her and, though I was not near her to help out, they made me feel comfortable with her treatment. I have been a patient at Cornish Physical Therapy on two different occasions and each time every visit was professional and very helpful. The work and exercises are explained thoroughly and backed up with explanation sheets which makes it very easy to do my exercises at home. There's so many things to say about this place and people. They have been so helpful with my cousin in so many ways she hadn't walked in 7 yrs do to her foot being broken and turned. First Dwight got us into another specialist to get her foot wear to be able to walk. He knows his stuff and can really pin point the problem. Very caring for his patients and has a true love for what he does. No matter who walks thru that door he has that personal relationship each one. I have had a highly satisfying experience with the top-notch team at Cornish Physical Therapy. I have been staying in the La Quinta area for work, and this past April my knee pain from osteoarthritis was worsening. I did some research into local physical therapists and saw the positive feedback from Cornish patients. After a thorough intake, I had sessions twice weekly for about two months. Most of the sessions were with Judd, who was knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. I have continued the exercises on my own and am so happy that I was able to get such a great foundation with Cornish. Two other wonderful things about this place: I can't say enough about the amazing Aqua Therapy Tank, which is a unique feature of this place. By far the best Physical Therapy Office in the valley. My first appointment was around December 20, 2021. I've been going for 11 weeks twice a week. I was referred by my Doctor for Bursitis in both hips. I was unable to walk a block or climb steps. I came to Cornish Physical Therapy with neck and shoulder pain, and met Dwight, the physical therapist, and his wife Jeannie. I was in a car accident and spent years with bouts of pain. Normally I don't understand clinical speak, but he was able to explain through detail what was causing my pain and how to correct it. Through attentive one on one sessions, he gave me a wealth of knowledge on stretching routines, excersises and stress relieving tactics. If it wasn't for the care and individual attention I received, I might not have understood what the road ahead looked like. I have visited CPT for physical therapy over many years for issues of my back, wrist, and shoulder (to name a few). Recently, I have had treatment for my knee -- torn meniscus. I was unable to go out for a walk and, some days, couldn't even go up/down the stairs. I really wanted to avoid surgery. Dwight taught me first thing how to maneuver the stairs as well as other basic things like the best way to get in/out of a chair. After a few sessions with Dwight, I was back to most ADL (Activities of Daily Living) and a month in, I could take my beloved dog for a walk again. I had an unrelated problem of an unusual type of headache in the back of my head which had been bothering me off and on in the past weeks. Even though it wasn't what I was seeing him for, Dwight asked a few questions, did some massage and stretches of my neck, and gave me advice for specific exercises/stretches targeting some small muscles that I'd never thought about. I left the session without the headache that I'd gone in and with tools to actually prevent it from happening. I highly recommend CPT. The office has grown since I first started going there many years ago and now has another Physical Therapist as well as an Occupational Therapist and a Chiropractor. I will definitely make an appointment with them if needed. The new reception staff are friendly. I have Ehler's Danlos Syndrome and I would NEVER trust anyone to fiddle around my joints, except Cornish! He's a wonderful doctor and phsyio! He really listens to you and respects what you have to say, unlike treating you like he knows your body better than you do. I had a Crossfit shoulder injury and after reviewing yelp and comparing other PT clinics I chose to go to Cornish. I was greeted by Mrs. Cornish who was very friendly and promptly had me seen as scheduled. Mr. Cornish provided the same top notch service and was also able to explain to me the mechanics behind what likely caused my shoulder injury. He provided me with techniques and knowledge that will likely mean I won't have to come back. Although him "fixing" me probably means less business for him, I think the best physical therapists are the ones that can correctly diagnose your issue while providing you with the knowledge and techniques to quickly get you out of the need for a physical therapist in the first place! You will not find a more knowledgeable and courteous physical therapist in the valley. Their prices are unbeatable and the great service provided promotes a feeling of "being in good hands." It is impossible for me to even begin to sing the praises of Dwight and Jeannie Cornish and Cornish Physical Therapy. Let me begin by saying that they were part of the team that kept my mother going for 5 years. In 2008 at the age of 81 my mother suffered a severe stroke. Then in 2009 she had another hospitalization that required physical therapy as part of her recovery. The doctor sent her to a large impersonal physical therapy facility. She was not happy there to say the least and actually refused to continue going back as she felt they were doing nothing for her. I asked her if she would continue doing some water therapy and she agreed that would be possible. I found Dwight online after a quick internet search. He started my mother off right away on his AquaTrex. This gave her the freedom to move about without anyone holding onto her. She loved it and smiled widely as she was doing it. For a woman who had skied nearly every day all winter long until the age of 78 this was perfect. Even after her health insurance benefits no longer paid for her to have PT, my mother continued to see Dwight 2 times a week for PT both in and out of the water. He kept her going strong so that she could travel and live a life of quality and meaning in her last years. Her final trip to Kauai in September, prior to her unexpected passing in October, wouldn't have been possible were it not for Dwight's hard work and love for my mother and what he does. In Kauai she was able to swim, go up and down stairs, walk on the beach and rekindle memories of years gone by on the island. I can not recommend Cornish Physical Therapy highly enough!!!! It is rare in this day and age of large PT facilities to have such a personal healthcare and PT provider such as Dwight. He literally added years and quality to my mother's life that she would have found nowhere else!!!! read more

I have some osteoarthritis and some slight disc slippage in my lower spine that has been giving me problems since last year. My Pain Management doctor recommended hydro (pool) therapy as a possible remedy. I chose Cornish Therapy and was helped through all my insurance hurdles, courtesy of Jeannie Cornish who very efficiently manages the office, including the appointment calendar. She was able to fit me in quite soon and I have been seeing Dwight Cornish for several months and am much better at many of the tasks I couldn't do before I came in. Through a combination of (individual) pool therapy and "land" therapy appointments, Dwight has helped me to overcome my more passive mentality and has enabled me to be much more assured in how to approach my day. His various pool and land exercise techniques have been very helpful in strengthening my lower back and when I am in pain, his "rescue" techniques using stretching and some massaging pressure, effectively alleviate the pain. I could not recommend Cornish Therapy more highly. read more
