As fate would have it, a year after I stared medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Wajdi began dental school at the Dental College of Georgia in the adjacent building on campus and we got to to live in the same building, cooking for each other and giving me a daily opportunity to practice my terrible, fledgling Arabic. As teenagers in high school together, I knew I wanted to be a doctor and Wajdi knew he wanted to be a dentist. I told him that one day when he had his own practice, I'd come get my teeth cleaned. Well, today, fifteen years after we met (to the month, in fact), it finally came full circle. I flew 2,015 miles just to come visit his practice and have my teeth cleaned. It was without a doubt, the most incredibly thorough dental cleaning I have ever had in my life. My teeth feel so clean that it is as if I can physically feel them sparkling in my mouth. She even took time to educate me on things teeth related that I didn't know (I found out I grind my teeth and she explained why that would happen and how to prevent the wearing of my teeth). When you schedule an appointment, know that it may take months for an appointment but you can always be added to a wait list during a day where you have flexibility to go to the dentist when last minute cancellations happen. I can understand why they are booked so far in advance. The experience was great and the staff are nice too!

Well, Carmel Family Dentistry made sure my first experience was pleasant and they now have a new long-term patient! I really didn't know where to start with finding a new dentist. I asked a coworker for a recommendation in the area, and after calling that location, found that they would not be able to accept new patients for six months. Thankfully, they provided me with the information for Carmel Family Dentistry! I saw the great reviews for this practice and was sold. I called Carmel Family Dentistry and was able to get an appointment within the next 6 weeks. Scheduling was a breeze - I was provided several different options, received a reminder text a week prior, and confirmation text the week of the appointment. They also verified my insurance and ensured everything was good to go for my appointment day. When arriving, they had all of my paperwork ready and I was taken back for service as soon as I finished. My hygienist, Missy, was very friendly and explained everything along the way. Dr. Worthington came in for the final check and she was great as well. She sat down and went over all of my X-rays in detail, explaining what she saw and sharing her recommended next steps. I appreciate when dentists do not encourage unnecessary treatment - I've had this experience before and truly appreciated Dr. Worthington's transparency. Great overall visit!

The office is chic and comfortable. Flat screen TVs in each exam room, coffee in the waiting room, on time appointments...it's a great place for dental work. I regretfully have dental anxiety despite Dr. Tiek being wonderful! He has been able to accommodate me with my anxiety and he and his staff are very nice and patient with my anxiety. I have 5 children and although they are definitely willing to help when I have to have kids with me during my appointment, I wouldn't say I necessarily recommend this office for young children's appointments. I have taken my children here, but would recommend a pediatric dentist where there is a children's friendly waiting room and dental staff who routinely work with young children. Overall, I love this dental office and Dr. Tiek is knowledgeable and friendly. I have had a few "emergency" dental issues and he has promptly addressed my issues after hours. I would definitely recommend this office!

I had a terrible toothache and found this place online. The receptionist, Susan was very kind to me…read morefrom the very first interaction. I was in so much pain and she was very sweet to me and was able to schedule me in right away. She made sure that I felt taken care of. I got the tooth extracted and it was very uncomfortable, but I got through it. Both the dentist and assistant were kind and patient with me. A couple days after, I woke up in excruciating pain and thought I had a dry socket, but when I looked, I could see the infection was all underneath the gums and inside of my mouth. The extraction site was fine. I immediately thought, "I need an antibiotic! Why didn't she give me one?" I called the office and explained to Susan what happened and she put me on hold and talked to the doctor. Turns out, they won't give me an antibiotic unless the doctor sees me first. That annoyed me. I went in the next day and sure enough, just needed an antibiotic. That second trip and a heck of a lot of pain and discomfort could have been completely avoided had the first dentist who extracted my tooth sent me home with an antibiotic in the first place.
