Her approach to patients is one of caring professionalism. She is very patient in her explanation of procedures and testing results. NOT EXACTLY GOOD BEDSIDE MANNERS, Dr. Maxwell Furr…read more PDX ENT & Audiology fired me as a patient for missing two appointments over four years when my ear hurts and I need a cancer scope!!! They call themselves audiologists and ENT surgeons, but they are utterly TONE DEAF socially. Way too much West Hills high-altitude attitude here, if you know what I mean. And the staff does not give a HOOT. Sport to them. They do not seem happy. When I asked for my patient records, they said I needed to sign up on their patient portal to obtain my records-- THIS, they are telling me AFTER I am being terminated as a patient. And the rub is this: on this provider portal, there is an option for text/ email reminders. I NEVER KNEW ABOUT their portal. Why the FUDGE was I not shown this system after the first missed appointment!!!??? COMPLETE JOKE OF AN OPERATION... and the world is too nutty for another JOKER! Do others feel this way??? It was a technology issue but the company took no time to figure out what was broken.... I AM NOT A DOCTOR but that does not seem like good medicine. BAD medicine it seems. For reference, this was my message to them upon learning that I was terminated as a patient when needing urgent care... " Subject General Medical Q&A Dr. Maxwell Furr Patient ABCXYZ******* Message For the record: after four years of appointments, I have NEVER received a SINGLE piece of electronic communication in the way of reminders texts, emails or phone calls from PDXENT despite PDXENT having my cell number AND email. Geezus. Broken ****** system... take some responsibility, PDXENT. There was a technology/ security reason why I missed my appointment it turns out. I have many devices and calendars... there was a security lock on a key sharing calendar... I LOVE text-based reminders... or email, BUT PDXENT is THE ONLY provider I have that has NOT historically (say, in the past four years) provided me any reminder notification. My ear hurts, it is not exactly easy to find providers... It is not even that I think the PDXENT patient-termination policy is draconian (yes-- DRACONIAN), ...it is that PDXENT never took time to figure out the disconnect after the first "strike". When did electronic notification become available???? Why did we not deal with this on the first "strike"... My guess is that operations are broken, the staff is generally pissed and the owners are geared on Porsches. Blow. ...that sums it up for me. They can do just that.

Dr. Shaffer was extremely thorough in his evaluation, explaining everything about the procedure thereby eliminating the fear. He ordered an additional test, explaining why, what the tests may reveal, and what to do in the interim. It was my first time at this practice, and with Dr. Shaffer, and I was very satisfied. It took two months to get the appointment, that is my only complaint, but that seems to be the norm in Portland for specialists.

When I pointed it out to him, he made excuses and didn't apologize. He squeezed sanitizer on and proceeded with scope. I received communication from Sasha that my calcium was 3.2! I am dead with a calcium level of 3.2! I am a nurse so I'm incredibly concerned that someone is leaving this as a message. Then I was told by Dr. Kim's P.A. That my surgery failed. He pulled something from my nostril. I asked what it was. He told me it was my bone. The next day I wrote Dr. Kim. He told me it was a splint that was supposed to dissolve. I repeatedly receive phone calls requesting feedback. I repeatedly left messages regarding concerns. No one circled back. The office doesn't care if it's giving false medical education/information.
