chef's special
Anjelica C.

My date and I arrived on a Friday night after 7:30pm. We were seated right away. The ambiance was perfect. Our service was great, water was constantly refilled, the bread was brought out right away, and plates were taken away before the next set. My date was able to get a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. I had a Cabernet Sauvignon. We shared pepper corn crusted Ahi tuna for an appetizer. It was delicious. For dinner, we had the chef's special. We enjoyed every part of the meal. It's a great date night spot.

Caesar salad was very underdressed. Some pieces didn't have dressing on it at all resulting in a very bland salad. Everything else but the dressing was A+ though, but they failed at the most important part of all, the lack of dressing. I got the Filet mignon medium rare and it was a great tender piece of steak however the bottom sear on it was a bit too burnt for my liking (see my picture) is it supposed to be that black? The top part of the filet was perfect with nice grill marks, but the bottom was completely dark dark brown, almost black resulting in a bitter steak. It also could use a bit more sauce/seasoning. Service and ambience are great though, nothing to complain about there.

I was undecided on what to eat being in Palm Desert a day before my coworkers arrived. So, I decided to go to the grocery store to stock up on some snacks and drinks for the night and happened to see a few restaurants across the way. So I pulled up to the Cork Tree with no issues of parking due to the restaurant being in the shopping center. Once I entered, the hostess was straight forward and asked if I wanted to be seated in main dinning or if I wanted to just go sit in the bar area and a bartender would help me. I chose to grab a seat in the bar area. The bar area had tv's a few high table tops with a booth so there was plenty of room. The place was clean with a nice relaxing vibe to it. I felt a little out of place not knowing what the vibe would be like, but I have to admit, that place had some of the coolest people and waiters I've ever encountered. Several waiters in the bar area started a conversation with me and must have known I was new in the area because the servers were offering me food and drink recommendations. As I began looking through the menu the lady sitting next to me basically recommended my entire meal lol. She said don't look at the main menu, order from the happy hour because the prices are great! So I went with the crab crakes, the jumbo seared scallops and a Moscow Mule. Everything was top notch but the seared scallops were the clear standout! They were cooked to perfection and not rubbery like they can be when overcooked. I can't front, the crab cakes had mad flavor too. They were super soft with no signs of having the crispy edges sometimes. The drink was fire too! Anyway, I ended up paying for a round of drinks for the lady and her husband sitting next to me because they kept me entertained the whole time. The next time I go, I want to try the crème brûlée three ways which was a sample of three different crème brûlée flavors. The lady and her husband were eating it and raving about how good it was. Overall, I will be back to feast on a few other entrees and appetizers and hopefully it's sooner rather than later. OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

We made a 6:00 reservation because we had an 8:00 concert at the casino. Tonya was our server and did a great job and a definite pro. We ordered drinks, lobster stack, pork belly and crab cakes. We had another round of cocktails during the wait for our entrees and asked Tonya to box our meals to go. Luckily they arrived right at that minute so we were able to enjoy our meal before dashing off. Will definitely be back.

We had the new years chef tasting. The amuse-bouche was delightful a poached pear wrapped in prosciutto. Followed by the mango crab tartar tower, French onion soup. The main filet, lobster and lamb chops were excellent. Everything was cooked to our liking we enjoyed it!!

I'd give this spot a 3.5 and although it was good I wouldn't come back here myself. Options for a nicer dinner option in Indio was limited so I came here for a gals dinner with my friend. The food was fine, but I honestly expected better for the price point. I got scallops and my friend had the tacos appetizer with a wedge salad. The restaurant was quite stuffy in all sense of the word. Our server was nice, but beyond rigid and her table side manner was quite stiff but that seemed to be the vibe of the establishment. I'm from LA so this vibe was just very different from what I'm used to. They had light up menus lol which were kind of funny and obviously trying to escalate the experience with their white table cloth setup. Not my vibe in general and food was mid. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here again but fine overall.

Surf n Turf!

4.5 / 5! Beautiful and classy restaurant! We made a reservation for a party of 15 and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. I ended up getting the Surf and Turf and it was delicious! Absolutely enjoyed my food, and the staff kept our glasses full the whole time. Our food also came out in a timely manner, which is so impressive considering our party size. There's a full bar and a patio area for outdoor seating when it's nice and not too hot outside. The bathrooms are clean and the overall interior design was very classy. The only small complaint I had was that these dishes are on the pricier side ($30-$60 per entree) so as long as you prep your wallet for that, then come enjoy a beautiful dinner here!

### **Consistently Amazing - Our Go-To for Great Seafood and Cocktails!**…read more We had another wonderful dinner with friends at Oceana in Palm Desert, and once again, they knocked it out of the park! This place has become a favorite of ours because the service is consistently fantastic every single time we visit. One of the things we love most about Oceana is the variety. We try to order something different from the menu each time we go, and we are never disappointed. The seafood is always incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the bar program is top-tier--the cocktails are creative, perfectly balanced, and always hit the spot. What truly elevates the dining experience here, though, is the staff. They are always amazing, welcoming, and attentive, making us and our friends feel right at home. If you are looking for incredible seafood, great drinks, and stellar service in Palm Desert, Oceana is the place to go. We already can't wait for our next visit! I highly recommend! I've tried mini grilled octopuses before in Southern California and never have. I had one so tender as this one. The octopus was huge and so flavorful. Most importantly it was so tender and not chewy at all. Everything we ordered was fantastic and cooked to perfection.

Talk about worth the effort.....This place is a new favorite in the desert!!…read more We came here for family night and I was blown away by everything. First off the service was great. Winston was attentive and always there to refill our drinks or help if we needed anything. He was quick and courteous. The ambiance was fun and lively. We got there a bit early so it wasn't too busy but by the time we left it was filling up. Lots of TVs with different sports on and fun decor. The food was amazing!! Everything we had was absolutely delicious. My mom has been looking for fried oysters since she moved here a few years ago and she finally found them and they were delicious. We got lemon pepper fries but you can get any variety of flavors, so so good. The bag boils were large portions with good quality shrimp, crab legs, sausage, corn, eggs, potatoes. We got the 88 special seasoning and you can pick your spice level. It wasn't wildly over powering like I have had before. It was great. And last but not least the prices are incredibly reasonable. I was expecting it to be higher and was pleasantly surprised how good the prices are. Definitely adding this to my favorites rotation!!

He was attentive from start to finish, refilled our drinks before we even had to ask, and when we requested the check, he thoughtfully boxed up our leftovers without us having to ask. Now, to be fair,…read morewhile some locations are attached to a store, this outpost on El Paseo is a completely separate venue, across the street from the clothing and furniture stores, and if you knew nothing about it, you'd never think this lovely restaurant was even related. The vibe is Caribbean chic, with woods and off-white tones to the decor, and a staff that finds the right balance between friendly attentiveness and laidback calm to make you relax and get comfortable. We sat at the bar and were tended to by Mandy (who confirmed she was named for the Manilow song); she was lively and full of suggestions, and kept tabs on us very well. I'll add that the other bartenders were just as friendly when they pitched in, as were the food runners. We were just aiming for a snack, so we ordered the Skillet Biscuits and Lobster Skewers. The biscuits came piping hot and packed with flavor. Flaky and buttery, with a pleasing crown of Maldon salt, they melted in your mouth, and paired perfectly with either of the accompanying spreads. Honey butter was sweet but not too much so, and Pimento Cheese had just the right combination of funk and spice. The Lobster Skewers were light and tasty: the tail of a slipper lobster, split, spiked and grilled over fire, landing with the look and aroma of something that's been through the flames. Served with clarified butter for dipping, the tender lobster meat was fresh and satisfying. But the big surprise was the accompanying Succotash, a vegetable medley I usually dislike and had planned to leave untouched. I decided to try it because it looked so good, and it sure was terrific. Fresh corn and baby squash bathed in lemon and butter, and lightly seasoned, it really was a terrific bite. I should also mention that I ordered a cocktail: the Berry Proper, made with gin, Framboise, lemon and a dash of simple syrup. It was equal parts sweet and tart, and wholly refreshing. It was a light lunch split between two, but it was very tasty, and far more satisfying than the usual sandwich or burger. Kudos to Mandy and the team.

This location is part of a strip mall with plenty of parking out in the lot. There's a pretty massive patio and outside bar area with seating which wasn't utilize as it was majorly hot outside. They did have mister to believe. We of course sat inside. When we walked in, there was no one dining as the only other patron had just finished and walked out. That in-between lunch time. It was one of those things, do we stay or do we leave.... The waitress that was working that afternoon, Michelle was the sweetest. So welcoming and friendly which is alway a good sign. As it was our first time here, she gave us a thoughtful breakdown of everything. Good customer service if I do say so. Menu, if you want seafood, this is your place. They had specials that go on all day with a good list of about 8 or so items to choose from. Lunch specials were also offered and then you have the main menu. Alcohol was also on the list. There's also a big menu along the board if you were waiting in line to order. Everything is done at the counter and food will be brought out to you when ready. They also have a soda station for your helping and the condiments are set aside there too. Menu did have a good selections of items. But limited on their pastas, which probably a given as it's a seafood place. They only had linguine and clams. We went with an order of the 3 fish and chips from the all day menu. That came with thick cut seasoned fries which were delicious and Cole slaws. The all day specials come with two sides I believe. Also an order of the ceviche which was from the starter menu. Fish was quite tasty and lightly battered which was great. Tasty and flakey which the battered was great. Not overly covered where it basically defeated the purpose but this place was nice. Also tater sauce was also accompanied. The ceviche was decent and came with tortilla chips. Nice decent size cup with avocado chunks on top but it wasn't that juicy. Wasn't that much juice, maybe it was just scooped and drained when served. It was decent. Also an extra side of the fries which were great. Thick cut and seasoned. The service was great and our waitress Michelle working that afternoon was a major doll. The sweetest and friendliest and so welcoming. The restaurant is full service minus the ordering. You order at the counter but your food will be brought to your table. It did pick up during our meal but we also noticed that it was a major go to for takeout. Everything was fresh and didn't take long to come out. There's also the downtown location that we need to try out next.
