I LOVED IT HERE! I really enjoy walking up and down 14th street and this is a delightful spot to stumble into before shopping at Muleh (especially if you need a buzz before you can spend a lot on beautiful clothes), before a night at home with friends, or before planning a dinner party. The place is family-owned, which definitely comes across when you walk in (e.g., the husband/wife owners were arguing in French, then he poured her some wine, they kissed, and went back to work). I've always had positive experiences here. While I typically have a comparatively small wine budget, the staff and especially the owner here have always stuck to my budget and made great suggestions. I was thrilled to find the newest Cork and Fork opened in DC. I have been to the fantastic location in Bethesda a few times but the DC store is only a few blocks from my house. You can buy wine all over the place in DC but the difference at Cork and Fork is notable - they actually intimately know the background of every bottle of wine they stock, whether it is from Chile, Israel, Europe or California, or any place in between. And most of the selection I have not seen anyplace else. Although they had a few hiccups on their first day (their credit card machine was temporarily down), the owners and staff by far made up for it with their cheery assistance and knowledgeable insight. Nice atmosphere and terrific wine selection. I thought some labels were over-priced but will definitely go back. My wife and I enjoyed the wine tasting. Owner is amiable as well as knowledgeable. My one issue is that their name doesn't make sense. As others have noted, "fork" misleads and unless they add food it doesn't make much sense. Another thing to note is they are not connected to Cork Wine Bar at all - which considering the proximity to one another is another source of confusion. read more

Why is this chain store called Cork & FORK if there are zero food options there? Clerk completely ignored us, despite looking around the entire store for about five minutes. Not helpful at all. This place is great! They always can recommend a great wine to your taste and price point. They also host tastings almost every weekend, so if you're looking for something new, be sure to stop by here on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. That's the other thing--they are open on Sundays! Whole Foods isn't the only place to get wine here on Sunday anymore! read more

I have never had such a poor experience in a wine store before. There was a gentlemen conducting a wine tasting and I asked him if the wine was sweet and he just said "nope". Hello, how about some knowledge of the wine? I ordered 4 bottle of wine from their other store that is less than an hour away and after two weeks of not receiving my order I had to cancel. The daughter of the owner in the other store didn't care that she lost $200 of repeat business. Oh well , they are rude and I will never go back. Should go out of business. read more

Waiting for our dinner reservation, we saw a sign for free tasting. They based the wines from world cup teams, great selection. The guy doing the tasting was fun and very knowledgeable, he shared why the altitude made the malbec lighter and the different blends of rose. My girlfriend loved all their rose wines to choose from. We left with 3 different bottles and will be back for one of their special events. A new favorite place for us. read more

Incredibly rude staff. I asked for a bag that was branded with the brand of champagne I had purchased so I could use it as a gift. He had given a friend of mine the same bag for free, which is why I knew about it. He told me the same bag would be $5 because he was "running low." I said I didn't need to bag if he was going to charge me. He threw the bag at me and told me to "just take it" and didn't speak to me throughout the rest of the transaction. There are plenty of other nice wine stores in the area, so I won't be returning. read more

I'm new to the Logan neighborhood and I have bought wine here a few times and just attended one of their wine events - this place is great! The selection is really great for discovering lesser known wines. They really know their stuff and seem to really enjoy sharing their knowledge. - I see a few people have confused this shop with another that is also a restaurant...name is NOT the same... in selection or service. I live within a block of the store and truly, deeply wish it were a reliable place to buy wine -- but it's not. Every time I ask for a recommendation, I'm handed an over-priced bland wine. I was delighted when Cork and Fork opened. The staff and owner (Dominique is from a champagne-growing family so he knows his business) are super nice and knowledgeable. I tend to like the wine here. I mostly buy old world, but there's a mix. Their selection is pretty diverse for a small store. It feels like a neighbourhood wine shop - they remember you, they take time when making recommendations, and they are friendly. I've even met new neighbours at their tastings. Drop in! read more

The staff there has always been friendly to me, even knowing I bought many living social coupons :). I love wine, and they have a great variety, which I was surprised about because it seems small. They also have a good variety of beer, and are in a great location! I'm with everyone, unclear about the fork part, but whatever the wine is nice. I asked for a recommendation for a dry, spicy red and the guy picked a $30 bottle and asked, in a polite way, if that was a bit much. I said it was fine, but for my second bottle I'd probably like something cheaper. He came up with a great $14 botttle for me. Both were wonderful, I was glad I tired the $30, it was worth it! And I was really pleasantly surprised that the prices were not outrageous! I mean even $30 for a bottle of wine is not bad and the man seemed like he really just wanted to help me and find something in my budget, not upsell me. Plus he was quick in picking the wine, which at first made me nervous, but he was spot on. I've gotten 3 bottles there so far, all have been great! Also, thanks for the information about the wine tasting Pickles! (3-7 sat) I"ll see you there as well :). I also have been a huge D'vino's and D'vine's fan but this place does trump them in the wine department :/ ...beer's still debatable. read more

A fantastic addition to the neighborhood. This is an establishment that distributes a selection of wines that are not 'off the shelf' wines produced en masse. the wines are selected with respect to taste and value.. many of them niche producers who produce brilliant wines that are affordable and memorable from all corners of the wine producing world. Dominique is exceptionally knowledgeable and has always guided me (a budding oenophile) in the right direction - in the last two years I have never tried a wine recommended to be lacking in anything. Friendly atmosphere, well stocked with exceptional wines at ranging price points, fantastic wine tastings - three things that bode well for the neighborhood and beyond. You'll find what you seek especially if you are open to trying new wines and are open to suggestions - as a wine snot I will say that Dominique, Ed, and others at Cork and Fork have NEVER guided me wrong. They understand wine they understand those who love their wine.. Highly recommend this establishment. I'm sorry to say that I was really disappointed in a wine tasting that I purchased through Groupon - a "wine tasting and cheese plate for two". The tasting sizes were TINY and the event felt a lot less intimate than I'd hoped. It was really not worth the $26 that I paid, let alone their full price of $70. It's a shame because it's a cute wine shop and I like to support local businesses but I definitely would not recommend this particular event to anyone. read more

I got some of the to-go food and was a little disappointed after seeing how many great ingredients they sell. I had a great coffee while I perused and all the sliced meats I got were fantastic. The baguette I got was also the best bread I have bought in DC. The wines were all overpriced but the selection was out of this world. I wish they made some really nice sandwiches. read more

Very disappointing first visit to Cork and Fork today. I wasn't the only one excited for my first visit the the shiny new store when we realized the sales associate simply failed to show up today and the store wasn't opening as scheduled. The Bethesda store was apologetic.... but you can't sell wine if the store isn't open! Real bummer and not too professional. read more

I've lived in this area for several years and grew up in "wine country" and have been looking for a local wine merchant who is quite expert on wine. Well, I found her here at Cork and Fork. I read some of the negative reviews here but could tell that some pretty knowledgeable customers gave them good reviews and the usual trolls and complainers who probably like "Freedom Fries" are trashing the owner because she's French. Scurry on children... I would describe Cork and Fork as having an excellently curated selection of wines. Not a single bad wine in years and I visit the store probably 2-3 times per week on the way home from work. All I have to do is tell the owner what I'm cooking and she'll match it with a nice wine every time. If you know anything about wines you'll also see the prices are very competitive. In fact, I recently found a Bordeaux with that "Bordeaux Barnyard" aroma that you find in a $100 bottle and she had it for in the 40s. The Saturday wine tastings are nice and if you're a novice they will show you the ropes of wine tasting in an unpretentious manner and you'll learn something. If you know a lot about wines you'll find some very nice deals. Like I said, there are a lot of wines found in other stores you won't find her. Why? They're not good enough. Both owners are former winemakers in both France and Australia and know their stuff. I'm surprised to find 20 somethings here questioning the owners' knowledge of wine. Take it with a grain of salt folks. I've seen restauranteurs and event planners come in with extensive menus and she takes the time to match every dish with the best wine. Some friends and I wanted to do a wine tasting at home and she set us up with 7-8 bottles and spent the time telling us what to look for, the different wine making styles, etc. Tell that to your corner liquor store where they'll read off the reviews. This woman actually tastes the wine and has a professional's palate. Friends tell me they also go the extra mile for private events too. Check out the Portuguese and Greek selections, lots of eclectic wines you won't find elsewhere but you can take a risk and try something new knowing that if it doesn't pass muster you won't find it here. read more

I saw a sign outside the store indicating that there was a wine tasting going on. I actually needed to re-stock up on wine so thought it would be a good idea to try the wine. When I walked in there was a table in the back,with some bottles of open wine and some glasses, but there was no one there to serve it. I looked around the place and there just appeared to be one employee very busy at the register helping customers. So, similar to a number of other recent reviewers, I waited for a few minutes but no one acknowledged or approached me. After waiting some more without any acknowledgement (and this is not a big place), I then figured it must have been self-serve. There was just no evidence to suggest that there was anyone serving the wine. I thought it was kind of odd, but figured they just got really busy or this is the way they did it. So I just took one of the empty glasses and was about to pour the opened wine, when all of a sudden I hear "Don't do that!" in sort of a bitchy tone. An employee popped out of nowhere (with no name tag or evidence that he worked there) and said it was against the law to do that. He then asked me in a condescending tone whether I wanted to try something. I was really turned off by his attitude and said, "Nope, I am all set" and I just walked out. He said "good." So, not only did they lose potential sales that day, but I will never set foot in there again (and will encourage my friends to avoid the place). I mean, I get that I perhaps should not haven't assumed it was self-serve (even though there was no one there to help), but he simply could have said. "No, please let me help you" or something more respectful. Based upon the reviews, it appears that rude and poor service are commonplace here. There are much friendlier places to purchase wine in this area and I would recommend going to some other place. read more
