If you value your money, time, and sanity, do yourself a favor and avoid CorePower Yoga in Goleta. My experience was nothing short of infuriating, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. First off, I paid $34 for a Yoga Sculpt class, and if you know anything about Yoga Sculpt, you know the class revolves around the use of weights. They're not just optional props they are essential to the workout. Imagine my shock when I arrived 10 minutes before class started, only to find there were no weights available not just for me but for at least five other people too! When I asked the front desk for help, they just looked at me cluelessly. It's ridiculous to think I should have to show up 30 minutes early just to ensure I have the basic equipment needed for the class. Walking into the room, I was immediately hit with a wave of disappointment. The room was so overcrowded that I could barely find a spot to roll out my mat. I'm talking wall-to-wall bodies--no personal space whatsoever. At one point, I was literally an inch away from getting kicked in the face. I was worried I'd kick the person behind me, and the whole situation felt chaotic and unsafe. After struggling to even set up my mat, I tried to start the class, but it was impossible to move without risking hitting someone. I ended up leaving just 5 minutes into the class because I physically couldn't do the workout. I pay too much money and go out of my way to attend these classes, and to have my workout time wasted like this was beyond frustrating. After leaving, I went to the front desk to share my frustration. That's when I learned the real reason behind the madness--they recently increased the room capacity. But here's the kicker: They didn't increase the space or supplies to match. When I expressed how upset I was, the girl at the front desk offered nothing but a half-hearted "sorry." No compensation, no offer to help, no attempt to make the situation right--just a dismissive brush-off. The instructor did nothing to help either. She could see people were struggling with space and equipment, but she didn't bother to address it. It's not just about guiding a workout--it's about creating a positive, supportive environment. That didn't happen here. In short, CorePower Yoga in Goleta is overcrowded, poorly managed, and not worth the steep price. This studio is incredible! The locker room, showers, and restrooms are frequently cleaned! The instructors are fantastic. They regularly host unique classes -- last week they had a Rihanna vs Beyoncé Sculpt class. However, their classes typically begin at 9am, whereas other CorePower studios hold earlier classes (at 6:30am, 7am, 8am), which is more practical for people that work. My only wish is that this studio would hold earlier classes. Otherwise, I would 100% recommend this studio. read more

Contrary to the other reviewer, this is hands down the best yoga studio in town. I first started doing yoga because I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my back. Not wanting to have surgery, my doctor told me I needed to increase my core strength. I was hesitant to try yoga because of some weird macho thing I had going on. I worked through my fear and started trying several studios in town. Guess what? Yoga works!! I live in Goleta and found myself driving downtown all the time (2-3 times a week) and with drive time included my routine could take up to 3 hours a day. That was too much in any single day. I hadn't considered going to Core Power because I had heard it was really intense and hard. Not wanting to commute so much, I decided to give it a shot. I bought a Groupon and took advantage of their introductory week free offer. For the next 5 weeks I dove into their introductory Core 1 classes. They kicked my butt in the beginning (quite frankly I was out of shape) but with every class they got easier. They are flow classes with some serious ab work in the middle. I started to see results immediately. My wife joined me too and she started getting results too. The classes are only 1 hour long and that makes the intense work super manageable, When I thought I couldn't go anymore, class was over and I felt great. Best of all, it's only 5 minutes from my house. So the total commitment is about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Perfect fit for a busy life. I have since joined their unlimited membership, I have graduated up to their level 2 classes and that is testament to the teaching abilities of all the instructors. Level 2 takes it up a notch. I can actually see abs in the mirror now. I have also tried the level 1.5 (great for added challenge up from level 1), restorative class (super relaxing and healing ) and the hot power yoga (emphasis on the hot, great workout). I love the facility too. The locker rooms are so nice and clean. They have showers and all the amenities you could need (mouthwash, lotion, etc). Everything is so nice and new here. The staff engage with nearly everyone after class and encourage you to come back. I'm not afraid to say that I love Core Power. I was hesitant to post a review because I wanted to keep this gem a secret (perfect class sizes) but the 2 star review I read was b.s. If my review convinces you to give this studio a try , you will not be disappointed. What you will be instead is happy, energized and and maybe a little sore. Went to core power yoga in Goleta for the first time and it was an excellent experience. I'm a 20 year practitioner and in good shape so no complaints about the intensity or the 95 degree hot room (makes for a great practice and no sore muscles afterwards). The first class I took was too fast which I only say because each movement is paired with each breath and if you are breathing THAT fast then you clearly are NOT in control of your yoga practice or your breath. Going 'too fast' does make for a harder workout so inappropriate pace aside, it was a for me a great class. I mention this because a true practitioner might not enjoy it so keep this in mind if you're very advanced. The second class was a sculpt class using weights with yoga and was also intense and great even at 95 degrees. It was overall a great experience. In addition the locker rooms were great. Space for locked and unlocked personal storage, showers, toiletries, all complimentary. You can also rent towels and mats for $2 each which is a fair deal. BONUS: if you ride your bike there (and prove it) they will give you FREE towel and mat no charge. That is very green of them and a nice touch. I salute the owners for that choice. There is also a nice choice of yoga sales (tops, pants, towels) that are high end priced if you're into that kinda thing. Overall highly recommend for: High energy workouts - getting cardio and burn all at once Intense classes, on the louder and exciting side, more Yang than Yin if you love to sweat! NOT recommended for: just getting a little stretch, or if you haven't practiced in a LONG time this may not be the best place to start. This is for serious practitioners. read more

I am a regular at this studio. My pick is the C2 class and some of my favorite teachers are Vera, Jane and Tricia. I like the vinyasa classes and I think there is a good amount of hard work balanced with stretching. I avoid the HPF classes since they are more like Bikram and I am not a big fan of that type of yoga. It really depends on what you like and how hot you want the class to be. For awhile, I was a black tag member and went almost every day. That was a reasonable price considering how frequently I attended. Now that I do not work locally, I get the packages and they break down to $15-20 per class. It's just so pricey that that is the only reason I sometimes reconsider committing to this studio. I know they give student discounts, but I'd rather see some discounts for locals than students that just try it for a week or so. read more

I did the two weeks for $9 deal. It came with an orange yoga mat, which is pretty cool. I loved the yoga classes. My favorite class was HPF (Hot Power Fusion) this class is super relaxing. However, it's much hotter than other classes. So if you are not a fan of humidity this is not the class for you. I enjoyed this class because I prefer relaxing yoga sessions. I also took a sculpt class. It was fun and upbeat. Which is great for some but, since I like my classes to be more relaxing I didn't enjoy this session as much. read more

This is my favorite CorePower in the SB area. The manager and her staff are really cool and friendly, while the classes are challenging and fun. I really like the ample parking and the vibe at this studio, so find myself attending their classes over the others. Staff were not rude but not particularly friendly. More interested in chatting amongst themselves. First time trying CorePower Yoga. Was not for me. Imagine a P90X class in a room heated to bikram temperatures. VERY fast paced, instructor shouting poses at you like a drill sergeant. The moves & clothes they sell were the only thing "yoga" about this place. If all you want is an intense workout, this may be the establishment for you (though it was far too intense for me-i am in shape, petite, have done traditional yoga and bikram before fyi). If you are looking for actual yoga practice of any form, go elsewhere. (For example, Divini Tree is true to yoga practice, and has classes that provide an intense workout with a mindfulness format, amongst others in town I've heard about) read more

I am so lucky to have a CorePower Yoga walking distance of my grandparents house! I love their flow and I've been to quite a few hot yoga studios, CorePower by far, is my all time favorite. I'm beginning to think I cannot go on without it and am contemplating getting the online access to classes so I can practice while in school. Yoga Sculpt is my favorite class, and the hardest class available, with fusion of cardio, weights, and yoga flow. This is the get in shape class! My second fav is C2, good flow and next in line in the get in shape regimen. The teachers here are new, but, very good. Dylan is super intense during Sculpt but, pushes you appropriately. Mia, her second time teaching was a couple of days ago, and she is a rock star and provided a very calming, but powerful, flow for Hot Power Fusion! Congrats Mia! For new students, the first week is HELL (you will feel like you are dying), but, once you get over this hump, you are indefinitely hooked. The yoga high is real! Locker rooms are clean, studio is clean, I have zero complaints! I will definitely keep coming back to this location! Cheers! read more

It's noisy from everyone chatting in the classroom just before class and most of the people don't bother taking there shoes off in the front area like other studios practice. I was excited to try CPY because I love hot yoga! I will start by saying that the downtown studio has better teachers, way better. I think they put all of the new teachers in Goleta? The studio is nice, thought went into the amenities, however the floors are disgusting.I can't imagine why they wouldn't run a damp mop over it after every class... I hate the feeling of everyone else's sweat on my skin. Yes, you have a mat but trust me there are several times throughout the classes that you are not on your mat, your arms and legs hang off during certain poses. For that reason alone i wont go back. The other horribly annoying thing was the nightclub music! C'mon! I understand you want it to be energetic and fun but A. your speaker system isn't even good enough to withstand music that loud and B. We can barely hear the teacher. C. Can you at least turn it down during Shivasina? (The more experienced teachers did much better with the music, the volume and knowing when to turn it down) In my one free week there I had 2 good teachers out of 7. All in all, They charge way too much for a drop-in $23.00, more than even the really good studios in town with actual experienced instructors, not just CPY training. They should embrace who they are, the McDonalds of Yoga studios in Santa Barbara and fix their prices accordingly. read more

Took a 6am class recently and was not impressed. The floors were dirty and obviously not cleaned from classes previous. The morning instructor/check in was not very helpful, personable or really that friendly. Her music was too loud and I couldn't hear most of the class. In a town with multiple studios you need to be on your A+ game. I also emailed the manager & corporate regarding some issue with my complimentary week (the check in person "wasn't able to fix") and I still haven't heard back from anyone. I'm foregoing my complimentary week for other offers in town. There are far better places. read more

Screw this place!!! I came right on the dot to a 3 o'clock C1 class due to some construction traffic otherwise I would have been early. The doors were locked!!!! And no one was there as I knocked REPEATEDLY FOR 15 minutes and called outside of the studio repeatedly only to be sent to voicemail, I am so mad!!! Wasting my time and gas! Are they going to reimburse me for that?! Most likely not, thankfully I am new to CorePower and got the free week trial, because I will definitely not pay $100/month to be locked out of a class! I love Core Power Yoga! It's a great physical work out with the more spiritual aspects of yoga. The teachers are great, the range of classes are great and the studios are clean and wonderful to practice in. I am sad to be moving to San Luis Obispo - where is currently no Core Power Yoga studio. I really hope they open one there! The SLO area would really benefit from a Core Power Yoga and I think it would be a big hit! read more

I never saw tone in my arms until I started taking Yoga Sculpt and C2 classes 2-3 times a week here. Their flexible schedule has up to 12 classes a day to choose from...I can actually find time to stay in shape with my crazy busy schedule. 10 toes and 10 fingers up! Awesome studio! I honestly have never felt this strong and have so much energy now. I take 5-6 classes a week and did the black membership. Expensive but over the years, it will keep me healthier over time and be less expensive later. I am soooo out of shape, and a Christian, with pretty painful carpal tunnel and plantar fasciitis. I googled cure for CT and yoga was first and then the other two not proven to help was chiropractic care and surgery. I've been in classes for three months and outside of a much more feminine shape that happened, my arms are better and my feet feel pretty great. Not cured but way more manageable and only due to the stretching in class. It's not a studio that focuses on the spiritual side too much and when they do, I turn my gaze to my Creator instead of any yoga references for "inner strength." So christians can feel comfortable here as well as very out of shape peeps. The instructors are so sweet and yes, sometimes it's not completely aired out or perfectly spotlessly wiped down but the people that are working out here come in clean. It's sweaty. It's not ballet class. But there are tea tree and water squirt bottles in case the floor around you needs a little care. I don't mind helping out. I highly recommend this studio! read more

This is a great workout, however, it is not truly yoga practice. There was blasting music while we were in savasana. I don't think the teacher stopped barking orders at the class the whole time. I appreciate the workout, but I'm really missing the spiritual aspect of the practice here. Maybe turn down the music guys. Check out some other places in town read more

I am older and new to yoga. I have been going to CorePower Yoga at the Goleta location for about a month and a half and I love it! The facility and studios are really nice. I've tried the C1, C1.5, HPF, and C2 classes. I was at first hesitant about the heat, but now I enjoy it and find it super helpful. Great staff, great facility, great classes, great workout. Everything about this studio is wonderful, they're compliments and encouragement during class are especially wonderful. They really make an effort to learn your name and get to know you. The Core power classes are very popular but make sure to take advantage of the Core restore classes that happen on Sunday evenings. Morgan is wonderful and this restorative Yin style class is a great compliment to all the tougher workout classes during the week, and a great way to get ready for a fresh start come Monday morning. read more

I have been going to the Goleta studio. It's a remarkable place. The instructors work with you regardless of your level or limitations and inspire you do better. I've had back surgery so twisting, turning, stretching and all those good yoga-y things do not come naturally anymore. But what a difference a month makes. Believe you me. It's absolutely worth your time. As a bonus you get to be around a community of really, really wonderful people- staff and other students. Then there are the events. I got to do yoga in black light with a dj. The class was packed and with amazing energy... and at some point I got (very lightly) stomped on the forehead- which was all too funny considering the situation, and I will count it as a yoga battlescar. ;) read more

I really love CPY. I"ve practiced Bikram for years before I switched over here. I do Hot Power Fushion (closest thing to Bikram), C2 and now power sculpt. I must say, first time I tried power sculpt I thought I was going to die.. Had to build up my strength for sure to ease into this class but now it's my favorite. It's definitely most intense of them all and least like yoga so if you want more traditional yoga try the hot power fusion or C2. I love the music, the facility is beautiful and I like this studio because it's not as crowded as the downtown one and parking is much better. read more

This is a great place to get a great work out. I practiced yoga for 10 years prior to finding CorePower and didn't think I'd like the heat, but I am now addicted. I enjoy most all of the teachers, with a few exceptions. I take C2 classes for the most part and they offer a great flow and can be challenging. Many of the teachers offer variations to make it more or less challenging, which I like. The Yoga Sculpt classes are a little more intense, with more house style music which isn't my favorite, but it is also a good workout. I've been a member for almost a year, and find it a great place to sweat and improve my strength. read more
