I tried the membership for 1 month and went to as many classes that I thought would be beneficial to my well-being. Yoga Soup has a plentiful amount of classes throughout the day along with a good variety of different class types. As with other studios, the teachers are usually the same per class type. The studio is clean and friendly and offers many retail items for sale too. When it comes to value, it depends if you like the teacher in terms of class presentation and connection. The more classes you can connect with (teacher and methodology) then the more likely you keep going to the classes. On many occasions, the classes were too full to point of space infringement or too loud from outside street noise. Dora was one of my favorite teachers.

I've been to a lot of excellent yoga studios in Los Angeles and practiced with some great teachers, but Yoga Soup is the best overall studio I've ever experienced. I prefer the level 2/3 courses and highly recommend Lauren's, Elyse's, and Linda's classes.

healing waters, let there come, a movement arts center that is culturally sensitive and supportive of healing

I have supported Yoga Soup even before it was Yoga Soup in attending the founders classes, and then, participating as it grew into what it has become. I have decided to break up with the community, which is the best, for both of us. For individuals on a healing journey, I have come to the conclusion, while there are many amazing teachers at yoga soup, one bad experience can be a huge learning experience. In the Yoga Soup culture, it is not defined as a place to support healing, and I now see that, which is totally fine, spiritual businesses are gonna be spiritual businesses.. BUT, if you are on a healing path, my experience has taught me that it is not a safe place for those processing historical trauma. I had a very disturbing experience, where I arrived early, for an indigenous cultural practice to prepare for class, and the teacher interrupted the practice to ask what I was doing when arriving at the park. The next class, there was a story told, that, in my experience, was a put down to this culture. There was repeated imagery of someone being thrown into a volcano that was told over and over in the class, which was disturbing imagery in itself. I asked many individuals, if I was off, to experience this as painful, and they agreed, it was culturally insensitive, as well as, culturally ignorant. So, if you are working through indigenous cultural historical wounds, I would not recommend this place, in that, it doesnt seem safe to me. For the historical trauma I am working through, indigenous practices were illegal, and were also shamed and demonized by Christian beliefs. I feel it important to speak out against cultural insults, especially for businesses build on land that once was land that was stewarded by the local indigenous, the Chumash. I imagine a world free from harm, and own, also, that if I am seeing this in another, it must exist in me, and will "tend my pono" with this. If you are caucasian I imagine this is a safe space, so please disregard this. I looked for the mission/vision/value of Yoga Soup, and it wasnt discoverable. Lesson learned! I break up with Yoga Soup, with gratitude for the teaching!

Thank you for making me and my stiff one dimensional workout body fall in love…read morewith Yoga , your lovely team and the powerful Power of Your OM yoga studio in Santa Barbara. Dear Adrienne, you are one of the nicest, coolest, most accommodating, solid ( and very flexible- yoga humor ok my attempt at) business owners I have met. You have this beautiful natural way of connecting with all and making this bum who resisted yoga his whole life a raving fan. You welcomed us both so warmly. It is not a surprise that 37 diehard fans showed up for your 6 am class on Wednesday October 8th. You found a way to make us all fit( photo) and ensured every one got a great workout. You remembered both our names a few minutes after meeting us and addressed us in the class. I loved your heart, your honesty and your spunk about how you and your husband moved to Santa Barbara 14 years ago. I loved the real, human and personal communication from the stellar Lindsey, the excellent Emily and the very nice David who really took the time to come by and relate to me as he suggested slight and actually very helpful shifts in my Warrior and Bhujangasan poses( yup my vocabulary increased beautifully). No one treated me like a newbie- they all wanted me to learn the fundamentals the right way. Loved it! LOVED IT!!!! The vibe in the studio be it at 8:15 pm or 6:00 am the next day was LOVE. Power to the Om and yes huge props and 5 stars for " Power of Your Om." Any one and everyone in Santa Barbara, you have got to go to this absolutely tremendous Yoga studio. Can't wait to be back.

I took a surge class at Power of Your Om and overall it was a very good class. Flow was about low to mid level, a little bit slower and more fluid than most C2 classes at Corepower. The main difference between Power of Your Om and Corepower is the heat. Corepower is hotter because of the increase in humidity and temperature while Power of Your Om uses dry heat. The space is on the small side and there is no dressing room or shower, but it makes up by being less pricey than Corepower.

I then went through a challenging twin pregnancy and my practice was completely interrupted, not to mention a failed move out to the East Coast that prompted me to move back home to the Best Coast ;) At any rate, I was dying to be in an atmosphere again where people are really serious about their yoga practice, and where I would feel welcome. I have an athletic practice and was so excited to be getting back into my practice in a real way now that my uterus is closed for business. I really found that here. You'll find all levels at CorePower and teachers who really know their stuff and have been teaching for a long time because they love it. The yogis who come all want to be there. I never feel like I can't pull back or step up what I'm doing in class, and that atmosphere can be hard to find sometimes at yoga studios. I do miss ashtanga and will add that back in when my season of life with Littles changes, but I'm so glad to be back in my practice surrounded by people who feel dedicated to yoga. There's something here for everyone who likes a hot practice, from sculpting with weights to a slower, gentle flow to a more rigorous vinyasa. Come get upside down with me! Sorry, I don't have a bada$$ pic to upload, you'll just have to come and see for yourself.

Since then I have had classes with other instructors, but I haven't liked any of them quite as much as I like working with Emilee. She is a great trainer, watching every move, changing exercises to suit your needs and moods. Some days she pushes you hard enough to be sore the next day, others are more focused on working the really deep core. You never get too much into a routine--always pushing different muscles in different ways. I discovered just how effective Emilee was at crafting bodies when I found myself in a contest at a pub--who could hold the stein of beer at arms length the longest. I assumed I would be hopeless. I was as surprised as any when I outlasted all these big muscular dudes! I'd built core and back muscles to balance and support my arms. Huh! I also gained half an inch after doing Pilates for a few years--I stand straight, which I had never done previously. Thank you Emilee. Emilee is wonderful fun, with an infectious personality.
