Huge fan of this studio. The teachers take care of you and 99% of the guests are super friendly. I love the variety of classes, but wish they had a few more standard times early in the morning. It's hard to make the 5:45, and there typically isn't another sculpt class until 10 am. I love yoga sculpt! C2 is also great, but sculpt is my favorite and seriously changes your body in just a few sessions. Love Jessie and Jane, but really all of the teachers are great! read more

I was really excited to try CorePower Yoga, and tried various classes but ultimately left so frustrated and disappointed that I won't go back. My biggest complaint was how crowded the classes were. We were packed in like sardines, so close that mats had to overlap to get everyone in there. In order to do a pose you had to coordinate with the person next to you. I also couldn't see the instructor to see what the pose was (excuse me for not knowing the names of the poses but this WAS a beginner's class). When I called later to give my feedback, the woman I spoke with told me that there were on 48 people in the class and that 50 was the capacity for the room. Really, you think 50 people is reasonable for a yoga class?? With that many people, no way is anyone getting any sort of attention. I'm a beginner so I expected at least some hands-on individual pose instruction, which I didn't receive. Attitude was also a little snotty, again not making a beginner feel very comfortable. The space is beautiful and the facilities are nice, so if you already know what you're doing and are just looking for a yoga class, this is a good place to go. But for the price I have higher expectations, and as such will seek elsewhere. read more

I'm not sure what to make of this. Is this yoga? It's more like cross-fit or weight training. Yoga is supposed to be a healthy exercise for body and soul, with an equal emphasis on both. This place has you sprinting in place while doing lift work with weights in your hands, all while listening to hilariously bad "workout" music that is basically just terrible nightclub music played so loudly that I literally couldn't even hear the teacher, let alone where she was half the time. At one point I actually just stopped and laughed because of how ridiculous I felt literally jumping up and down (JUMPING UP AND DOWN!) and how hilarious it was that this place calls itself a yoga studio. I felt like I was in a Jane Fonda workout video from the 80s, except the music was worse and Jane Fonda was super aggressive. They also pack you in like sardines so be very careful because you might trip over someone or your weights, or their weights or slip in your puddle of sweat, or their puddle of sweat. The ceiling tiles were yellow too. I think they were once white. Plenty of free parking, women's locker room was small. I'll be going back to my regular studio, where the physical aspect (which is still challenging, but in a much different way) of the class is also designed to help you find peace of mind (i.e, actual yoga) instead of adding to your stresses and anxieties (i.e., this place). read more

This is my go-to corepower studio! I'll start off with my only complaint, which is the size of locker rooms. It gets tight in there! I usually grab my stuff and leave. On the plus side, there is plenty of covered (and free!) parking in the centennial lakes complex. Also there are other amenities nearby - notably Whole Foods and Jamba Juice for your after-yoga fix. This studio has also started selling juice from Cleanse So Good. I haven't tried any yet but I did sign up for a cleanse at the end of May. Recently, I've been looking for ways to relax and destress. Yoga has always been on my mind, because I've heard plenty of people talk about the wonders of practicing Yoga. However, it seemed intimidating since I'm not a very active person with poor balance. I decided to try out CorePower Yoga because of recommendations I heard and the free 1 week trial they have available (which is a great marketing tool!). I started a week ago, and since then have gone about 5 times. It definitely has made a difference so far, and I want to go to yoga everyday to relax. My first yoga class was at the Edina location. The instructor (Lindsey) was great! She knew we were new to the class, so she helped us a long the way. I've had a different instructor everytime, since I've been bouncing around the different locations. Each one I have has been equally good. They each have their own style of teaching and personalize each class to fit them. Even though they are a chain, it doesn't really feel like it when you're there. The facilities are kept up very nicely and is always clean. I've been to the Edina, St. Paul and St. Louis Park locations. All the locations have impressed me. My favorite has to be the Edina location because it's roomier and it has the spa. St. Louis Park location is a little smaller than the rest. They have a variety of classes you can take, I've tried quite a few, and they were all equally challenging. I've done Regular Core 1 classes, Hot Power Yoga, Heated Yoga, and a Core 2 class. The Hot Yoga classes are really fun. You sweat a lot but you can feel that you are getting a really good work out. I can say I'm already addicted. I signed up for their membership yesterday. They have another awesome promo going on. You get a free massage at their spa and a discount on the first month for signing up using auto-pay. read more

Clean, friendly, zero egos, no camel toes, awesome atmosphere and amazing place to do yoga. I've been to yoga studios of all kinds and this one has the best features all smushed into one zen place. I met two instructors and they are so supportive. Locks are provided on the lockers that pair with a wrist band for when you're in class...okay, I love that! Normally I'm not a fan of wearing spandex, but this place makes me so comfortable I'd chill out in a hot pink cat suit if it helped with a few poses. A must stop in! Namaste! read more

Wow, what a great class! I went to a morning core power 1 class with Colleen as the instructor. The room was large, clean and heated. The lighting wasn't too bright or too dim. I haven't been to a yoga class in years and since I was on out of town I needed a break from the hotel elliptical. Core power gives a week free for new members and since there is one in Denver I can continue my free week there when I get back to town. The poses that were done are all poses I remember on my wii fit, so I assume they are the basic poses. All poses were held long enough to free the stretch and keep your breath engaged. She shows modified poses along the way. Her voice is so calming and welcoming. And she has some awesome arms! I highly recommend this class. I am totally relaxed and ready to conquer the day. read more

This is it. This is the greatest place to down dog it. I bought a groupon almost a year ago and was hooked, instantly. I have had an unlimited membership ever since. The place is great! The instructors are phenomenal, the facilities are always clean, and the yogis are kind and always say "excuse me" when everyone rushes into the shoebox of a locker room. I come here to get my heart pumping with a sculpt class, to wind down with a vinyasa, sweat it out with a hot fusion, or relax with some candlelight yoga. I like this studio. They have a class called Yin Yoga, which I haven't seen anywhere else in the twin cities. Here is how Yin works. You are on the floor the whole time. Not like fall down drunk on the floor, but just not standing on your head or on one leg. So no balance poses. AND you hold these seated/reclining positions for 4-6 minutes each. So class breezes by and you don't even break a sweat. But don't be fooled - this Yin is no joke. It can be really really hard! But if you do want to sweat, they have classes for that too. Not part of the general CPY network (it's a franchise) but you would never really know. They have tea too. And massage. read more

I hadn't been to yoga in years, but I missed it. A friend of mine teaches at CorePower and has been telling me to get in there for a few years, so I finally listened to her and went. Amazing. CP does yoga in a way that I haven't experienced elsewhere, and it was great. I took a C1 class first (with Patrick in Uptown), then did a sculpt class today (with Rita in Edina) - kicked my butt. Got a great sweat going and still felt amazing at the end of my hour during each class. Don't forget your towel - you'll need it - they heat the rooms (as you should). It was enough for me to go ahead and buy a 10 pack of classes, because the yoga you experience here is SO much better than I have ever seen at a gym. I liked both locations I visited... Edina has the spa, though, and I hear you get a nice discount on spa services if you have a membership there :) It's a little pricey but totally worth it. New students get a free week to try it out! I'm so excited to practice again at such a fabulous studio. read more

Love this location. Most CorePower studios in the city have difficult parking situations but this one, located next to centennial lakes, has plentiful parking and a gorgeous studio. So far, I'm stuck on Sculpt and can't seem to get myself into another class! Every Sculpt instructor I've had is excellent and motivating. I have yet to try out any of the spa services but they offer 50% off your first service for people who have never been before, pretty good deal. The only thing I would gripe about is how crowded the classes and locker room are, which I guess they don't have control over. If you don't get to a popular class after work at least 15 minutes early, you're most likely out of luck on a spot in the studio. Overall, awesome place. read more

CY Edina was my 2nd stop during my intro week. I again took an entry level class as this was what fit my schedule most. I got the workout I needed but would have liked to see some different class arrangements and music lists. The locker room is large, clean and well equipped. They also and large boutique full of accessories and yoga attire. **I attended the Friday Night Candlelight flow and will say this was the best yoga class, instruction, music I received of all the classes I took in my entry level. the edina corepower studio is more than deserving of the 5 star rating. Every instructor is prepared, kind and more than helpful to the beginner student. the studios are large, clean and fresh. the spa offers SPECTACULAR massage options and i am sure that the facial and waxing services are just as deserving of five stars. Jason and Jane stand as my favorite instructors for the morning C1 courses, although all of the classes that ive taken have provided me with calm and thorough instruction from patient and educated teachers. read more

A year ago, I loved my free week experience so much that I waited until Groupon had a deal last week :) I had to pull the trigger because if you're not attending a private island this time of year, you get goofy. I'm always in need of a deal, like any other person, but this is one place where I would recommend paying full price due to the mind stabilization it provides. We can all use a weekly tuneup. I may be promoting Yoga instead of this establishment, but outside of college yoga classes, I've never attended a studio. For my first time, I was so happy. Calm, relaxing, and a staff that provides an uplifting energy. There are a few cons, crowded being the worst of them, but the benefits outshine. I was a bit shy initially but when I walked into the studio and saw a 300 pound shirtless man, I embraced the no judgement atmosphere. I've been going to this studio on and off since it opened in the summer of 2008. Facilities- The facilities are typically clean. Although in the winter, the area where people leave their shoes can get wet and sloppy. They have lockers at this studio but you will need to bring your own lock. Parking- The parking used to be fabulous. Now, I don't know what happened. It could be the new Whole Foods but I can't be certain. I can't seem to get a parking spot by the studio to save my life. I have to park by Old Navy and walk over. Classes- Not a lot of variety here except Yoga Sculpt and Vinyasa. The heated Vinyasa classes are supposed to be heated to 95-100 degrees. However, when I've actually brought my thermometer into class and the temps have never rose above 91. Music played during class can be loud, distracting, or annoying. Sometimes, the music is so loud I can't even hear what the instructor is saying. I like the Yin Yoga classes that are taught by Valerie and Victoria. Yin Yoga is calming and will compliment someone with a serious yoga practice or a high endurance athlete. (Probably why I love it so much.) Instructors- I like a couple of instructors (Corrine, Erin MH, Valerie, Ken, Victoria) but most are poorly trained, have bad people skills, and are in serious need of diversity training. One instructor asked, "What are you?" at check-in and then proceeded to announce to the entire C2 class that I was taking that my hands were a different color than the rest of my body. There are also some instructors who, how can I put this mildly, need to get off their high horse and get over themselves. I've been doing yoga (Iyengar, Bikram, Yin, Moksha) for 10+ years and know a thing or two. They can't answer the most basic of questions. The CorePower 2 class (also known as C2) can be truly bizarre. Not only is the room cold (see above), the instructors will sequence their own class and put asanas in places where they simply shouldn't go (a deep bend like Camel at the beginning of class) or advanced asanas that the instructor can't even do themselves. Also, some of the instructors will forget the sequences in some of the classes with a fixed sequence (C1, Hot Power Fusion) or call asanas by their wrong name (Bow Pose is not Wheel and Standing Bow Pulling Pose is not the same pose as Dancer's Pose). There seems to be loads of unnecessary and inappropriate touching (or within mere centimeters) of students' crotches, inner thighs, breasts, and buttocks. I've also had instructors press their bodies against me as well as yank my limbs in order to "adjust" me. I'm not sure if these instructors' ineptitude is ignorance or stupidity because their training was a quickie, Bikram/Baptiste/Ashtanga rip-off, and designed to speed customers through a sequence and get them out as soon as possible. Retail: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING AT THIS STUDIO OR USE YOUR CREDIT CARD AT THIS STUDIO. In November 2011, I bought a gift card for myself because they were having this deal where you could get a $100 gift card for $80 or so. I thought, "Cool! I'll treat myself." Well, I used my gift card when they were having their Thanksgiving Black Friday sale very early in the morning when most of the merchandise was supposed to be 20, 30, 40% off and they proceeded to charge me FULL PRICE rather than giving me the discount. Please note that this was very early in the morning (7:30 am) so there wasn't a line or pressure or possible confusion. Not to mention, they didn't give me the receipt. When I checked my purchases in my online account, I saw that they did not give me the discount. So, I went back into the studio and explained the situation. They tried to be apologetic but put money back on my account (which could only be used at their crappy franchise studio and not at any of the other real CorePower studios) and not on my gift card. I don't know. This seemed shady to me. Students- Again, hit or miss (and I know the business can't control the clientele). Some students don't know basic yoga etiquette such as be clean before coming to class. (I know we sweat, but I shouldn't have to smell your body odor throughout class.) Some of the students will block someone's view of themselves so you can't check on your alignment (thus the purpose of the mirror). Or, not making room for someone in a crowded yoga class is kind of rude in my opinion. The dressing room can be a nightmare after class. I still can't figure out why some of the women wear full makeup to a heated yoga class. A few men (both old and young) seem overly lecherous with their comments, smiles, and glares. A young dude once followed me into class, put his mat behind me, huffed and puffed made a bunch of obscene noises, and left half way through. If you're a person of color (POC) like me, also expect to hear some random "ghetto," "you people," and "what are you"? read more

Update..I've gotten a couple of emails from fellow yelpers on this topic about the shoo-ing and the snottiness. That I should be more specific... the shooing only occurs with certain instructors after the last class of the evening.. they really want you to leave, don't matter if you're hair is still wet and you're not ready to go. Also, not all of the staff or instructors and experiences have been bad. Even though the majority of the times I've been there, it hasn't been comfortable, I have had good experiences with three of their instructors, who are just as noble as their teachings. Notable teachers: The Yin class (w/Victoria) , Yoga (w/ John) and Yoga sculpt(w/ Lindsey) have been wonderful and these instructors do not treat you like a number, no matter how crowded or busy. If you go here, definitely take a class with one of these instructors and you can't go wrong. So like with many places this studio does vary with instructors. It's just not a place for me. read more

this was easily one of the best facials I've ever had. Ask for Anne, it's fantastic. first of all, walking into a wonderful smelling, clean, welcoming environment is a great start. We discussed my skin, my thoughts and concerns, but mostly i just trusted her and it was well-deserved. She's also a massage therapist, and you can definitely tell in her arm/hand/face/head massage that she incorporates into the facial process. she asked the right questions and told me exactly what she was doing and what she was using on me and why. I'm very interested in healthy skin products but often find spas to be pushy on the sales end. Not here. She told me what everything did and provided extra information when I wanted to know, but left it at that. Though the products used smelled fresh and wonderful and felt just as great, making me actually want to buy it all. Not to mention that my skin felt and looked amazing and refreshed. The facial room was clean, relaxing, and warm. the facial, the products, and Anne made me wish i could be back every week. Not sure if that's possible, but i'll definitely be back. read more

I came in via the Living Social deal for a Present Moment Facial & an Om Rejuvenation massage. Toni did both services. We started with the massage. She applied the perfect amount of pressure, so while it was relaxing, I could tell she was still working out the knots in my neck. Next up was the facial. The products she used smelled amazing, which made the experience even better. Not only did I come out glowing, but also with samples! She gave me 3-4 sample bottles of the products she used on me. All in all, it was a great 2 hours spent at CorePower and I plan to go back soon! read more

This is my favorite CP studio, which stinks because it's not in my area. This swanky studio has a really nice facility and free parking, which you can't say for all the corepower studios. This studio also has a good pilates and restore classes, which aren't available at many other studios and I really wish they were. This is a great place to do yoga, especially in winter because most of the classes are hot classes meaning the room is hot and humid. The locker rooms are really nice and there are lots of products available if you forgot your own. I like how most products they have are also free of artificial fragrances because I'm allergic. My only complaint is the water tastes awful here. Definitely fill up your water bottle at home first. Lastly, MPR/student discounts and insurance discounts also make this studio somewhat affordable. read more

They really need to clean the Edina corepower, I have a friend that used to work there doing some cleaning for a discount on her membership, she said they didn't use any cleaning products, just old dirty towels...it shows. I like the sculpt class, but people get really sweaty, I watched them clean the floors after a class...they just used dirty water to wipe the floor, not disinfectant like at the other locations. The locker rooms also need some repairs, I've even mentioned it to whoever is at the front a few times...they still haven't fixed anything. One of the toilets is leaking water on the floor, they just wipe it up instead of actually fixing the leak... & its water from the bowl, not the tank, seriously gross & it's been over a year!!! I've actually stopped going to this location because of the cleanliness, broken lockers & maintenance issues. Also, the weights for sculpt class stink really bad. At the other locations I've seen them clean the weights, not once at the Edina location. I think I got pink eye from the weights the last time I went there, I'll go to the other locations from now on. If cleanliness is important to you...avoid the Edina corepower!!! read more

As my back became more problematic with age I made the change from a Boot Camp class at LTF to a Yoga Sculpt routine at CorePower in Edina. I couldn't be happier with the change. My back issues are less severe and the level of intensity in the workout remains high. The people are second to none as well! read more
