Awesome studio. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Being a guest from out of town they offered me a free first time class. Mat and towel were also free. Very cool, industrial space with awesome views of the city. Clean and large, full showers and lockers, mats were clean and odor-free. Room was nice and hot and moist. Adam gave a great motivational Hot Power Fusion class. I'll definitely consider going to some classes at some studios near my home. This is a very professionally-run business.

GREAT STUDIO! I am normally a member of the Gold Coast studio because it's in my neighborhood but due to scheduling i found myself at the South Loop studio. I read the views were great and I was stunned.....it's a gorgeous place to do yoga! Panoramic views of the skyline to the north and east. This location has 2 studios so no need to worry the room is too hot for a cool class or vice versa. The retail area is larger with lots of lululemon items to purchase. The instructors are really enthusiastic here and after class even pull you aside to talk more about perfecting your individual technique. (I know they always are "available" but I've never been summoned for discussion before!) One of the great parts about this studio is the parking! Access the parking lot off of Jefferson and take it allllll the way up to the 5th floor. You can park right outside the doors to the studio for free! This studio is awesome and I will definitely be back---worth the drive over!

I've been taking classes at CPY since about 2 weeks after they opened in September 2008, and I really like the studios, the classes, and the instructors. Both of the studios have amazing views, especially studio 1 which faces the loop. It's very pleasurable to take an evening class and watch the buildings light up as the sun sets. The classes vary in difficulty and in temperature. Classes that are heated are in the 90-105 degree range and even unheated classes are typically warmer than room temperature because of the residual heat. CPY instructors lead a secular practice which focuses on following your own intention and listening to your body's needs and abilities. The classes can be quite intense; you can certainly get your workout for the day in a class. There are classes for all skill levels, though, so don't worry if you're just starting to practice yoga. As one of the studio members who participates in the Yoga for Trade program, I can tell you with great certainty that the studio is kept very clean, because I am one of the people who clean it! The staff is super friendly, as well as the other students. I really enjoy C2 classes taught by Sheri, Lewis, Eliza and Margo (who's super perky and always gets me to try a new pose), and Chris and Cynthia are both awesome in the Hot Power Fusion classes. The instructors all really seem to enjoy leading practice, and it totally shows. If you are looking for a yoga studio that will lead you on a spiritual journey to enlightenment, this is probably not the right studio for you. But if you are looking for a studio that lives up to it's name (your core will certainly get more powerful) and combines familiar yoga vinyasas with challenging strengthening exercises, this is the right place. As other reviewers mentioned, you get your first week free (so there is no excuse not to try it)! They also offer discounts for full-time students, teachers, military personnel, seniors, and yoga instructors.

The best…read morepart of the retreat is that I still feel relaxed and have carried the energy and lessons from the weekend into my daily routine. I'll preface it by sharing that prior to the retreat, I meditated maybe a dozen times. I went on the retreat because I wanted to incorporate more meditation into my life. Now, meditation is not only something I do, but I look forward to. The entire retreat beat my (always high) expectations. Chill's retreat included two nights at the Marina Grand hotel, five meditations, three yoga sessions, a class focused entirely on breathing, a gong bath and wellness sessions on goal setting and mindful eating. I can't say enough about Laura, who ran the retreat and runs Chill; Cari, who led the yoga sessions; and Darrell who led the meditations. The hotel was lovely - our room had a fireplace and two Adirondack chairs on the marina-facing patio - perfect for your morning coffee. The retreat also included two dinners and breakfasts - all were very good and catered to all dietary needs. We had time on our own for lunch on Saturday and my friend and I wandered into town for lunch at Beer Church Brew Co. We capped off our weekend perfectly with meditation and yoga focused on loving kindness before saying goodbye to our new friends. The retreat was perfect mix of spiritual and wellness guidance and also provided necessary time for us to reflect on the lessons of the day. I'm so happy I went and I'm already looking forward to going back to Chill and to the next retreat in the fall.

The staff and instructors are so welcoming and friendly, and they have such a calm and cool vibe. I like that they like to check in/chat with students before/after class, and they are just so nice. I've taken the Wednesday and Thursday evening Zen Vinyasa classes (unheated room), and it's exactly what I was hoping for! It also was populated but not crowded which was great (though I can't speak to other days/times). I had Angel as an instructor both times when they were subbing for someone else and I really enjoyed it! Angel has a simultaneously soothing and strong voice (in the best way for a yoga class) that is great for motivating students during class and I love their inspiring words and playlist that begin and end our classes. The studio itself is cozy yet spacious enough to have multiple rooms for various classes and a lounge area in the center with lots of comfy pillows and a coffee station. I see people hang out there and it makes it feel like a community vibe. I like that there are lots of hooks, hangers, benches, and lockers in the front and back of the studio and in the actual bathrooms/locker rooms so it feels like there's plenty of space to place your things. It's also very clean!

Unfortunately, both times I have come here there has been music playing throughout the entire session. Not ambient instrumentals but whole entires songs with lyrics and bridges and choruses and stuff. And not very good ones. I personally cannot focus on the words of the instructor or my breath and body with tacky lyrics being pumped into my ears. I come to the mat to cultivate focus and presence, and I find it impossible in this space. This place is definitely for someone, but not people who are sensitive to noise or enjoy a more traditional yoga practice. Much love.
