Spontaneously booked a CorePower Yoga 2 class an hour before the class. This was my first time doing CorePower but I've done hot yoga elsewhere before. Parking was not too difficult to find considering it was mid day on a weekday. All meter parking outside costed $1.50 per hour. Studio was clean and had a relaxing vibe. Locker room was bright and clean, with 2 showers and plenty of lockers. The instructor is the one who checks people in at the front counter. Ashley was friendly and I loved that she provided demos to us throughout the class. Great first experience with CorePower and I look forward to trying out their other yoga classes offered! read more

I have been to this studio a few times now since it's the closest one to me and it's great! It is located in downtown San Mateo so parking may be hard during busy hours but I have been lucky to find nearby parking so far. Definitely allocate some extra time so you're not rushing to get there before class. I recently tried out Yoga Sculpt and I loved it! I may prefer it to just regular hot yoga because I like the sculpt exercises we do. It's intense in the heat but it's crazy how much you sweat. I thought I sweat a lot already during the usual class, but WOW! It felt great after to get a good sweat in. Sometimes the music got a little loud but it's easy to either look at the instructor or look at people nearby to see what they're doing. One thing is that most classes are pretty full so you will be right next to each other. I guess that's pretty typical during their popular classes. Either way I will definitely be back for another class soon! read more

I absolutely love and adore this studio. After getting certified back in 2020, I wasn't planning on actually teaching until I came to this location. The community here is unmatched. Everyone is so warm and welcoming, it's so fun to take class and say hi to everyone that comes in, whether they're new or a regular. I've been teaching and taking classes at this studio since 2021, and I still have the same love for it as I did then. I love taking a mix of YS and C2 classes and there's other class types as well! Be sure to come before class starts, as teachers close the doors on the dot and are the ones checking people in. Lots of street parking and a parking structure right in front of the studio. Don't forget to pay since they do check! Download the Pay By Phone app or use the machine in each structure. The water fountain tends to break down, so be sure to bring your own water, especially since classes are heated. There's only 2 showers in each locker rooms, so remember to bring a towel, otherwise you'd have to rent one. There are mat rentals as well. Such a clean and home-y studio!! read more

Love taking Yoga Sculpt at Corepower and the San Mateo location is my go-to. My favorite instructor is Krish! The Club Krish class is so fun and kicks my butt every time. I always leave drenched in sweat and feeling amazing. Music is upbeat and always on point. Oftentimes, especially if it's a Friday evening class, the class can get pretty full so be prepared to be in close proximity with your neighbors. If you're doing Yoga Sculpt, I highly recommend bringing a towel for your mat and a towel for your face as well. Also be prepared with lots of water for hydration because you will be sweating. There are showers available in the locker room. Parking in the area can be tough since it's in downtown San Mateo after all. Arrive early and give yourself time to find parking. read more

I'm so happy that they're now offering C3 classes (with Brooks H.) on the weekends! I've taken Brooks's C2 classes before and loved every single one. His classes are always super creative and challenging (in the best way), and I'm constantly learning something new. What I appreciate most is how mindful and intentional he is with his students. He adapts his sequencing and cues based on who's in the room and genuinely takes the time to get to know everyone. I've been wanting to take more C3 classes to dive deeper into inversions and have more room to play on the mat, so I was thrilled to finally take my first C3 class with him--and I loved it! Will you break a sweat? Yes. Should you bring a towel? Absolutely--maybe even two: one for your mat and one for yourself. Also, bring extra water--the refill station is very slow, and you'll want to stay well hydrated. The only downside, apart from the refill station, is that San Mateo parking can be tricky, and the street parking meters don't accept Amex. They do take Amex via the "pay by phone" app & site though. read more

new to the yoga scene and was introduced by my friend who took me here to do a yoga sculpt class which kicked my butt. it just made me eager to start from the beginning and work my way up to that type of class. the studios are clean and comforting. lockers, showers, and bathroom area is also neat and tidy. really glad this studio is only 10 mins away from me! read more

Wish I could recommend this studio as it seems to be the only in the area but I can't... the instructor was very friendly but music was awful and so quiet you could barely hear it so it's just people breathing the whole time. Bathroom and yoga rooms were not clean and smelled bad. I'm traveling for work so needed to rent mat & towel -- the only yoga towels they had available for rent were fluffy bath towels that shed fuzz all over you while sweating & the mat reeked. Unfortunately not a good experience -- studio needs freshening up /cleaning. People were super friendly though. read more

Tried out the studio for 2 classes. I would give it 3.5 and rounding it up here. I am told to do more stretching. So I am in the pool hunting for a good flow/alignment type of studio. I do see them offering a variety of programs including weights. My review is thus biased and limited to core 1 and restorative class. This is a very commercial yoga studio chain. It is modern and clean inside and out. Studio also offers complimentary wipes for your mat. Nice seating/waiting area with plenty of shopping options. People here are friendly. But it is difficult to see grumpy people in yoga studios so I guess it is at par. Programs offered are decent with overall nice music. But it somehow doesn't feel like a yoga studio but more like a commercial gym/pilate place. Not sure if it makes sense. I personally prefer non-commercial type of studios. I likely won't come back. The location of the studio is pretty awesome though. Plenty of street parking around and right opposite to a parking garage. But being in downtown San Mateo, parking could potentially be challenging during rush hours. read more

Terrible. Class started at 2:30 and I got there at 2:30 and the studio was closed and locked up. Usually most studios that I frequent have somebody to check you in and a five minute grace period. This place has absolutely none of that. I paid for parking which by the way is a horrible situation in this area. Give yourself some time and patience in finding a space and working with the meters! I would recommend Nandi yoga as there is parking that is free nearby and someone that checks you in and a grace period. Never tried the class or the studio and won't be going back. read more

Amazing Friday evening class taught by instructor Krishil. Tonight's theme was called "Club Krish" and it definitely feels like you're listening to upbeat music from the club! This class is not your typical yoga class. It is so much fun and the energy is incredible. Even though I consider myself quite active with fitness, this was a VERY challenging class and I got an amazing workout. It left me so sweaty afterwards and I definitely felt accomplished finishing the class. The music was great and Krishil is such a great instructor! I was definitely not expecting both yoga and a high intensity workout, but you get the best of both worlds. Now I cannot wait to come back again! read more

Love this place! I'm doing my first month of membership for $20 and i'm sad it's almost over! the instructors are great her, some of my favorites are Kayla, Alejandra, and Juliana :) they always play good music. just an fyi to anyone wanting to try- the classes are heated (the one without any heat still has residual heat from previous classes). C1 is usually way less crowded than the other classes. Also morning classes are way less crowded so I recommend going then if you don't like crowds! I wish there was a class capacity because some classes to get pretty crowded, and i wish there were mirrors on the side walls. Will definitely come back and bring a friend :) read more

I tried yoga for the first time and was very satisfied! It's great that they provide a two-week trial period, towels, shampoos and anything else you might need after class. The instructors are knowledgeable and explain at the end of the class from a spiritual perspective what the workout was about! read more

This studio has few things to recommend it. The rooms are excessively small, the location is inconvenient (no parking!) and the staff can be absolutely merciless (more on that later). The instruction is variable - some of the instructors are great! Others not. Stretching is not really included in the practice for the weights-based classes, which is a shame. The music is played too loudly - it is impossible to hear the instructor and sometimes the beats are so loud it makes one dizzy. The biggest issue, however, are the absolutely Draconian and inconsistent class start policies. Twice now I have arrived for class 1-2 minutes late (6:01 for a 6 pm class) and was turned away because "the class has already started". First of all, 1 minute is within the measurement error of most clocks. Second of all, for some of us it is not possible to set aside the extra half hour they suggest to be sure to be in class on time. I signed up. I arrived on time (I see some reviews mention a 5 minute grace period - I have received no such grace) - why not just let me in. I have never been to a CorePower class that started exactly on time and people started immediately moving (they claim this is for "safety" - at least they own the studios are too small for the number of people they pack in there). The instructors preach self care, and yet there seems to be no appreciation of what it takes for a working parent to find that one hour plus commute (in traffic and finding street parking) needed to go to one of these classes. Sure, the women who have turned me away these two times might have nowhere else to be, but for some of us, this hour+ is all we can spare for ourselves. Absolutely inhumane, awful attitude towards what could be a loyal customer. read more

WOW. I did not expect to love it here. I was super against hot yoga because I thought I would feel like I can't breath but Krish convinced me to try his class and I'm so glad he did. I tools the body sculpting class. And it was nothing like I imagined. I thought it was gonna be boring with meditation music in the background but he was so funny throughout the whole thing, and the music playing was like up beat hip hop and he even played some bad bunny! He gave instructions clearly so as a first timer I was able to follow along and move with the veterans in the class. He also gave instructions on how to do the easy version of the exercises we were doing, if we weren't able to do the normal one. At first I thought I wouldn't use them, but as I grew more and more tired I found myself using mostly the easy versions. And I'm kinda in shape! I workout at a gym and this session kicked my butt. This gave me a better understanding that I need to work on my cardio and I had fun along the way. 10/10 highly recommend this class. If you can, take Krishil's class, I know he gets booked up quick. Pro tip: bring a big bottle of cold water, and wear loose fitting gym clothes. read more

I'm a huge fan of CorePower yoga. This location is on the smaller side compared to the other locations I've visited. Parking here is a little hard to fine whether it's street parking or finding parking across the location in a parking lot. Did you need to pay for parking during the day and in the evening it's free parking. This place is very nice in their locker room there's two showers and two bathrooms stalls. Their overall pretty good at keeping everything clean and there's no funky smells. They have two studios at this location and usually two classes that lineup between 30 minutes apart. I love coming here and doing hot yoga because I think it's a great way to get all that sweat and gunk out of you. Front desk staff is overall pretty nice and welcoming. read more

I have been attending this studio for almost 3 years now. Instructors are great! 99% of the time I do yoga sculpt. Class is best when the heat is turned up. The best part is how you feel at the end of class and how you feel after a shower. You feel so good and you our body thanks you. That is why I Yoga for that feel. read more

I had only taken two yoga classes before today because yoga has never really appealed to me. When I saw this new location had opened up, I thought I would give yoga another try. This was a very different experience than the previous classes I had taken. I hesitated to even try this place out because most of the classes are heated and I am not a fan of exercising in any heat. Much to my surprise I actually enjoy heated yoga. When I walked in I was greeted by very friendly staff. The staff here are always smiling, welcoming, and helpful. I had already created an account on-line so all I had to do was give them my email and check-in was a breeze. One of the staff members gave me a tour of the facilities. They have a retail store in front selling clothes, mats and other yoga accessories, bathroom facilities which includes showers, and TWO temperature control yoga studios. The lockers in the bathroom facilities do not have numbers on them, so make a mental note of where you locked up your personal belongings! I entered the studio to take the C1 class (Tues 5:30pm) about 10 minutes to the start of class and the studio was packed! I was really surprised since they only opened 4 days ago. The instructor came in right on time and introduced herself. Based on their website, I had a mental picture of the studio as being open and bright. This studio has no windows (except the door) and is very dark with a black ceiling and gray walls. Though C1 isn't technically heated, the class before it was, so it was really hot in the studio. We started off in child's pose and quickly moved into flow. As a person with very little yoga experience, I struggled to keep up, but the instructors here are very helpful and encouraging. I could tell many of the people in the room were very experienced in yoga which was a little uncomfortable for me as I was just a beginner, but I guess everyone has to start somewhere. I was just expecting to be with more beginners than experienced people. After class, I spoke with a staff member, he asked me how I did, I told him my struggles and he did give some suggestions on what I could do to alter the pose and he did say it was okay just to skip it too. The website and written information indicate that in some classes yoga experience is a plus or a must; however, the staff advised me that all classes are actually beginner friendly, so I decided to try a second class. CLASS #2 Today I tried, Yoga Sculpt with Brielle (Thur 9:00am), at first I hesitated because the class description says yoga experience is a plus, and I have very little. I tried it anyways and was very happy I did. I liked this class and this instructor so much more than the first class. This class is a combination of yoga, weights, and cardio. It was challenging but the instruction was easy to follow. The instructor gave regular instructions in postures, poses, and modifications. This class had about 12 people and was a GREAT CLASS! After my free trial week, I signed up for a month to continue my yoga practice. I now take two classes a day - Yoga Sculpt followed by Hot Power Fusion! Forgot something? That is okay, they have mat and towel rental, water for sale, and $1 deposit for a lock for the lockers! Give this place a try! If your new to yoga, I encourage you to take at least three classes so you can really get a feel for this place and the instructors AND your first week is free, so take advantage of the trial week! read more

I don't think it's fair to charge $30 for a class taught by amateurs. Very few teachers are experienced or skilled enough to teach advanced level yoga classes. Most of their classes are beginner level. It's disappointing to see how some studios are using yoga as a revenue generating business. I suggest going to San Francisco or yogasource in Palo Alto instead. read more

This CorePower Yoga location has been open for about two months. It's in a great spot. The classes and layout are the same as you'd find at any CorePower -- modern space, clean studios and locker rooms, with lockers/locks and clean showers. I'll confess, I'm not a diehard yoga/hot yoga fan, but I think it's an important element in addition to regular workouts. But there are two classes that will give you more cardio (and not just hot yoga sweat): (1) CoreCardio Circuit (cardio, weights) (2) Yoga Sculpt (hot yoga plus some weights/cardio). Kick start your 2017 early and stop in to this studio! And be sure to check out Norma's Yoga Sculpt! She has great energy, awesome routines and bumpin music! Five stars. read more

I'm so glad that CorePower opened in San Mateo. I practiced frequently when I lived in San Diego and was excited to know one opened close by. The studio is really nice, staff is friendly and the classes are great. Good location and it is easy to find parking. The instructors are great, the classes are challenging and the schedule is flexible. The locker rooms are clean with showers and have cleaning supplies. I highly recommend anyone to try CorePower. The first time I stepped into the studio I knew it was home. I originally was looking into doing teacher training. I looked up online and decided to come into the studio. I had heard great things about the teacher training program CorePower has to offer through a friend who did it in the city. I had never actually been to a core before this moment. I went to a lot of small local yoga studios, which I still love. But there is something about this community and studio that is different than any other. When I came in, I started talking to the studio manager Laura, she is an amazing human. When we were talking I felt like I was talking to my future self. She was and still is understanding and welcoming. One of my favorite things about it is the variety of classes. I love taking bikram classes, intense workout classes, calming meditative yoga classes and anything in between. I used to have to go to different places to get the workouts I was looking for. Now, I get to come to my home and do what my body wants. The other thing that I have gotten out of the studio is the difference between a workout and a lifestyle. I used to go to yoga for a workout and not I go for so many other reasons. Thanks for all you do core smto, much love. read more

Had a really awful experience here. Booked in through ClassPass and will never be back. Issue #1 - the class (CP2 at 6:00pm on Sunday, 11/26) was RIDICULOUSLY overpacked. People were literally mat to mat with no space inbetween. Issue #2 - the bathrooms were gross. Dirty floors in the toilets, shower drains full of hair. Issue #3 - ALL THE CASH OUT OF MY WALLET WAS STOLEN. $80 in twenties and some ones. The studio doesn't let you bring your stuff into the yoga room (not that you could fit it if they did with the crowding), doesn't leave anyone to monitor the cubbies in the lobby, and doesn't have anyone monitor the locker room. There is no safe place to put your stuff. Wonder how much the thief made off with tonight. This was a horrible experience. Don't come here. There are so many better, safer yoga studios around. read more

First off I feel bad for writing a negative review b/c yoga is my zenful and happy place. The reason I'm writng this is that I love CP and am a regular yogi at the SF FiDi location. This studio is probably the worst one. It's bringing down the CorePower brand and here's why: - Staff coverage. Parking is difficult in San Mateo and if you show up on time or millisecond late especially on the weekends, they lock the doors on you. This has happened to several times while I stood outside with fellow yogis banging on the doors like the Mervyn's commercial. Hire a front desk person. - Schedule changes. I understand that with the Holidays, regular business hours change. They posted a paper schedule on their front door about the new Holiday hours but failed to make a note on their website. By the time I show up, its already after the fact. - Cleanliness. The bathrooms have a funky smell either unclean with hair strands everywhere or too much bleach. These incidents are enough to make me stop coming but purely because I can't rely on whether or not your doors are open or closed. On the plus side though, the instructors are good. read more

Really bad first experience. I was excited to try this place out because my friends told me about the free two week trial. I was really excited. I woke up at 8:45 to make it to a 10 am class...on a SUNDAY. I never wake up before 10 am on the weekend, it's the goddamn weekend. Anyway, I woke up early to take a body shower (not even a real shower) in order to make it on time to the stupid 10 am class. Once I got there around 10:12, the front desk lady aka the yoga instructor aka the jack of all trades (apparently) told me I couldn't get in because they have a 5 minute grace period (wtf). This was not listed anywhere on there website (trust me I spent 10 mins checking). The lady told me they also couldn't let me in because it was hot yoga and they had a whole warm up to get people used to the heat (bullshit). Anyway, they need to post explicitly on their website that YOU CAN'T BE LATE! It wasn't there or on the confirmation email. Do better, corepower yoga, do better. Simple communication is the least you can offer your members and guests. Without hesitation, I will not be returning. read more

I have been calling everyday for the last three weeks and get hung up on by the answering machine, I have emailed the studio over a week ago and have not heard anything. Overall Core Power Yoga is a great studio to attend. (Paid) parking is right across the street and the location is easy to find. The staff is extremely friendly, the instructors are helpful, and the studio is well kept. Why four stars? Simply put, the classes get pretty crowded in the evenings and you need to arrive early to get a good spot. Ironically it's pretty stressful rushing to a yoga class after work and not knowing if you'll have a spot. If Core Power had a bigger studio and/or a reservation system I wouldn't hesitate to give five stars. read more

I absolutely enjoyed doing yoga here at this location. I lived in Burlingame for a year and this was the only yoga place liked. It is clean and the amenities are like a sports gym. There are multiple showers and plenty of bath products so you never have to bring your own. There are always plenty of lockers. I really like the shop which was filled with yoga clothes I can't find elsewhere. If your are close by, come give it a try just once. You will be hooked on the different types of classes in the two large practice rooms, the friendly staff, the new and clean equipment, and the helpful yogis. read more

Corepower Yoga turned me into a yoga believer from a what-the-eff-is-yoga-and-why-do-all-hippies-love-it person. The instructors are really nice and approachable, and the studio is nice and clean. I also like the variety of classes they have (yoga sculpt which is more like cardio/pilates; corepower yoga which is vinyasa style; hot power fusion which is more hot bikram style). One thing I do wish is that they have better shampoo but it's not a deal breaker. It's just that I keep comparing it to Equinox so anyway... I love Corepower Yoga. I preach it to everyone. The first week is free so just try it for a week! Once the free week is up they email you ONCE about continuing the membership. That's amazingly not pushy - unlike the gym that starts with an e *ahem* which used to CALL and EMAIL to yell at me for not coming back. The receptionist who used to work at that gym told me they spammed her about joining the gym too even though she works there lol. Anyway, to end the rambling, I love this studio and I love that they give me space when I need it and offer me help when I want it. :) I hope you love it as much as I do! read more

C2 temperature varies widely depending on the instructor. Also the level of difficulty depends on the instructor. Some C2 classes feels like C1. Additionally, there are quite a lot of subs, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. Lastly, it would be great if they can provide face wash. The heat and bacteria after an hour of practice can really cause breakouts! Overall, I am very happy and I am a black tag member. read more

I've never been a Yogi. The furthest i've gone with my exploration of Yoga was beginner classes over at Peacebank in Redwood City and even then their beginner classes were very limited so I didn't have the option to go multiple times a week after work. CorePower Yoga makes it easy to decipher their classes. They have C1 (I would consider this their version of a beginner class) and then heated classes C2, Yoga Sculpt, and Hot Power Fusion. I stuck to C1 classes the first couple of weeks mostly because the website had scared me about Yoga Sculpt. Yoga, weights, and cardio in a heated room? Yikes! Plus all the sites I had seen said that you should have a few C2 classes under your belt and honestly I wasn't ready to go to a C2 class yet. Eventually I decided to put all my nervousness to the side and go to a Yoga Sculpt class! I'm glad I did. While we did hold poses in Yoga Sculpt it didn't feel like an ordinary yoga class. It was fast paced, rhythmic, loud, and fun! I find myself laughing at myself sometimes in the class (or a lot of Felicia is taking the class and making us practice our surfing or A-Z pushups). Their facility is pretty clean. Yes it gets sweaty and you may not see it but they actually have someone mop the classes after a sweaty session. Would like to see wet wipes or something to hold people accountable for cleaning their own weights after use. The instructors are great, so far i've taken Jackie and Felicia the most but haven't been disappointed with any of the instructors yet. From my experience Yoga Sculpt has filled the void I was feeling towards yoga. Their C1 class availability helped me practice the yoga poses while Yoga Sculpt helped me learn to enjoy Yoga! Highly recommend CPY if you haven't tried an experience like this before or if you're just hesitant to try Yoga. read more

In love! I joined as an early member before the studio opened and I am SO glad that I did. I literally crave it each day (and that's definitely not the case for every type of workout...). My favorite things about CPY are 1) the teachers - they have all been fabulous and they all have their own styles, so classes are always different and 2) the schedule - classes from 6am to 8:15pm! Having those times offered is the only way I can make it there regularly with a busy work schedule. I take CP2 or Yoga Sculpt classes and they seem to be great for every level - teachers always give options to modify a pose or take it up a notch, so it provides a perfect balance of being able to learn and notice yourself getting better, though still be challenged. The only downside is that the studios have large pillars in somewhat inconvenient spots that can block views of the mirror or teacher, but I guess the ceiling has to stay up somehow. Otherwise, it's a beautiful spot with clean studios and locker rooms and a lot of retail space! read more

I've been to many other Corepower Studios around the state. I was excited for this location to open, but there are a few things that I did not like on my first visit. 1. No room to blow dry your hair, other studios have long counters.. here you blow dry over two enclosed sinks.. not only dangerous but leaves no room for people trying to use the sink (or blow dry spends on who is there first) 2. Other studios have code lockers or take your keys/ID as exchange for a lock. This studio takes your dollar. I don't always have cash on me, so I thought this was an odd system. 3. The sculpt class I took had a good instructor. However, it was the least intense YS class I have taken. I understand it is a new studio with new comers whom this class may be too intense for, but that doesn't mean the class needs to be easy. I didn't feel like I had a good workout. We barely held any poses and had the lightest core work. 4. This location has a very limited amount of showers. I did not see too many people using them, but makes me wonder if there will be enough showers once more people relocate to this location/join. They seem to have plenty of space up front on both sides, not sure why the locker rooms weren't made bigger and the front smaller. Hopefully we see improvements soon. read more
