I worked out with Kommunity six days in a row while I was on vacation in Vancouver - and wow, I am…read moreso glad I found this gym! The workouts were challenging, fun and fast-paced. Coaches were great about making the rounds to give pointers and encouragement. I also appreciated the luxe amenities, like being handed a cold mint towel as you leave class. I highly recommend Kommunity for Vancouver locals, as well as visitors. If you're just dropping in like I was, I'd suggest having a solid basic fitness level and some familiarity with weights. Although the coaches are awesome, the class moves quickly and wouldn't be suited to somebody who needs a lot of support. Looking forward to returning next time I'm in Vancouver!

Kommunity is a community that I want to be part of. My friends and I went as first timers and are…read morealready thinking of going back. Classes are 50-minute circuit-style workouts with HIIT, strength, and cardio spread out across different stations. We did FIERCE (K-HIIT) with Ali Martinez, who gave us first timers a quick rundown of the gym before class. The class started with a warmup before we split off into our assigned stations, which included the SkiErg, rower, box jumps, weighted squats, ladders, and sandbags, among others. Most stations had two different exercises for some additional variety. Aside from the instructor's choice station, all stations had the respective workout playing on screen which made it easier to follow along. There were even motivational quotes and footage playing as you moved across stations! I also appreciated the end tables at each station because we could leave our water bottle and towel there, while also having a spray bottle readily available. The energy level was high throughout the class with the fist-bumping music and Ali's encouragement. I loved that there was a cooldown at the end with the roller to really target our sore spots. The mint towel at the end was the cherry on top! As Kommunity is on the pricier side (e.g. $435/month for unlimited), I would at least try the free first timer class and perhaps wait on a monthly promotion. That said, Kommunity takes the best parts of its competitors and meshes it into one sleek, modern gym - from F45 with its stations and video demos, to Barry's with its music and lights, to House with its lounge and merch, and to Equinox with its mint towels. Other amenities include lockers, a water bottle filling station, restrooms, and wifi.

They have a map for the studio ready with all the bike assignments right when you check in, which was super helpful. Classes include cycling shoes, a sweat towel, bath towels and shower amenities. Lockers are free and quite large. There was a bit of a bottleneck at the lockers and also in the reception, waiting for the studio to open. There is also a hydration station with two taps for water bottles, which is awesome because most gyms only have one and a line always forms. The studio itself has a good vibe. The lights are low and there's mood lighting. The decor is trendy and it's clean, with sanitizer wipes to wipe down touchpoint after the class. There are mirror on three sides so it's easy to check your form. The one con is that the studio itself is not that big and they definitely have crammed as many bikes as possible into it. The back row is tiered though, so that helps somewhat. The space only can become an issue during the stretch and also I think it restricts what can be done with the weights. The instructor was very approachable and had a school dance throwback playlist ready. She made sure to control the lighting so that it matched the class. She also helped people check their bikes. The class had a fun atmosphere. The change room has three showers. They aren't the biggest, but they are sufficient and have good water pressure. They also provide skoah shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Would like to see the ingredients for the toiletries though. Some good amenities in the changing area including razors, tampons, curling irons and a bunch of hair dryers. Lots of bench space as well that is tiled and built in, which is smart.

They offer free de-caf free at the front and plenty of room to sit and wait for your class. There's such a wide range of selection for types of dances that there is one for everyone. You can choose what level you want and the ones I went to were all intro/open so they were beginner-friendly. Every instructor has been very nice. My friend J went quarter before 3 and I showed up little late when the dance session started. I wish there was a clear instruction before walking in. I was confused whether to take shoes off to change to indoor shoes or go into studios without my shoes and turns out I had to change to indoor shoes after arrival. Next step was filling out application form and if there was any medical history. I was ready for the session once it was finished. There was so much energy and the 90's hip hop was so perfect for this. Everyone wasn't first timers except for me and J. My instructor showed steps from slow speed and then the pace became quicker. It was little difficult to follow the steps and which direction to swing or to bend my legs. I nearly fell for the first 30 minutes , and then fell on the floor because of my poor balance. My only way to catch up is to observe my instructor or other people to improve dance steps. It was a fantastic work out for sure. Because there was only 1 fan, I felt very sweaty and humid in the dance studio. I only paid $10 for the first lesson and it was so worth it. Staff were nice and friendly. **Note: bring your old runners for the dance. Make sure they're clean pair. They have small change rooms so you can change into loose clothes. Water bottle is a must to bring. They even have a water station next to reception desk. I found myself overwhelmed that some moves were more of advanced level. Everyone else moved so fast I couldn't follow their speed. I found myself with a small bruise the next day.

Equipment was always clean, and if it was ever down, it was never down for over a week. Maintenance and cleanliness were top-notch were a gym. There were more than enough accessories such as foam rollers and workout bands, etc. as well. The staff are incredibly friendly and always greet you if you're in during their hours. There's always personal training available to you and my favorite part is that they're busy, but never ABSOLUTELY packed like other gyms have been. I've since walked into many, many Anytime Fitness locations and this one is by FAR the cleanest, best-run location I've ever seen. I would come back here in a heartbeat. I really can't complain about anything at this location! Even the clientele at this location is super respectful, which made my experience at the gym a lot more comfortable. The ONLY downfall is that it's a bit pricey, but this isn't exactly location-dependent; the entire chain charges $50~/month+.
