I'll say that the management group leaves much to be desired. In our year here there have been 3 directors, none of which have been able to answer the most basic of care questions. There's zero communication from management. While I prefer to communicate with nurses as they're the ones who interact with residents everyday (good luck catching managers out of their offices/meetings), there have been situations that required the help of managers. For instance, my mother does not see facility doctors due to insurance, however, a facility doctor prescribed her a medication for a condition she doesn't have. Mind boggling! I am still waiting for an answer as to how that happened. It's been 7 months now. With that being said, I do realize the difficulties facing facilities like this. I know there are horror stories out there at other facilities and I'm thankful to have the good staff members close by.

We had to call over and over to get answers. And the weekend nursing experience was terrible. While I was visiting him on a Saturday, he rang for the nurse to help him go to the restroom. He rang again after 20 minutes. When no one came after another 10 minutes, I went to the nurse's station. I was told to tell him to go in his diaper. I was shocked and said the only reason he is here is to get strong enough to walk to the restroom himself. The response was, well it's safer for him to go in his diaper and then we'll change him. I was appalled. On another occasion, I found him laying in bed with no sheet. He was laying on a plastic mattress. But I think the absolute worst thing is when he was taken to the hospital from Hollymead and the ER nurses immediately masked up when they heard where he was coming from. Then when he was placed in his hospital room, all visitors had to gown and glove up to enter. I was told that Hollymead is known for communicable diseases and I did not want what my father came in with. He had C. Diff. - a severe inflammation of the colon with watery diarrhea - highly contagious. When my father was taken to the hospital, he had been on a pureed diet for over a month. Where did he catch C. Diff.? My father is now dying from double pneumonia and kidney failure. I feel the lack of care at Hollymead contributed to my father's death. I wish I could go back in time and place him in another facility.

When you call a place that makes you feel like they are genuinely excited to meet you, that's a great sign for me. When I went in for my first appointment, I was welcomed with a big smile and two very nice ladies up front. I shortly met Dr. Dan Wojnicki and he took his time while going over my every issue with my back pain. He took thorough X-rays and was extremely profession, yet personable as well. When I returned, I felt the same welcoming atmosphere from the front staff, the PA, the massage therapist (Ally) and Dr. Dan. He took the time once again and showed me, in detail, my X-rays on a large flat screen, then we decided on a plan moving forward. Joints in Motion is, far and away, the best physical therapy provider that I have ever used. I have been working with Eric at Joints in Motion for the last 3 months as I recover from rotator cuff surgery and cannot say enough positive about the experience. Rotator cuff surgery recovery is not fun, but Joints in Motion has made things immeasurably better. There are several things that set Joints in Motion apart from other therapy places where I have gone. First, it is clear during each of my sessions that there is a plan in place for my therapy. Unlike other places I have gone, I have never found myself standing around waiting for a therapist to figure out what I should be doing or waiting between exercises because a therapist is tending to another patient. It is clear that they respect my time and prioritize maximizing my progress without unnecessarily wasting my time. Second, Eric is great about explaining what I'm doing, how it helps, what my progress looks like, and giving advice on things that I can do at home. I have a bad tendency to be a control freak which invariably causes me to ask lots of questions. Eric has always patiently answered them fully in a way that is understandable to a layperson. Third, the facility itself is well-equipped and a really good size. I did not appreciate how important that space issue was until I went to Joints in Motion. At other therapy places where I have been, it was often hard to work around other patients who were operating close by. At Joints in Motion, there is plenty of space to spread out so that patients don't impede one another during a therapy session. I live less than 5 minutes from another physical therapy provider, but it is a no-brainer that, despite it being a 25-minute drive from my house to Joints in Motion, that the extra drive well be well-worth it the next time I manage to injure myself.
