My in-laws live in the area and I have to get a Pool Room Chili Dog several times a year. When I was younger, women didn't venture into the smoky pool hall but were served hot dogs through the exterior window that still exist. It has been cleaned up since those old days when the Southern Railway Trains would stop on the tracks so the crew (including my dad) could get their chili dogs. They would block traffic for a mile in order to get their fill. The buns are streamed soft, the hot dogs are crisp to the bite, and the chili is meaty and the perfect thickness for a chili dog. My only gripe is that the chili is very mild, but they do have bottles of hot sauce everywhere which you shouldn't skip! Service today was friendly immediate but I was there in the mid afternoon and there was only one other patron. You've got to try it! read more

This place is sketchy but beautiful. It gets 4 stars because of the Americana feel. It opened in 1939. The pool tables look nice. Was there at 7:45 on a Saturday night and 3 tables were available ($4.50 an hour). Got a chili cheese hot dog (2.68) cause they were out of slaw. It was good. Friendly service. Cordele Recreation Palor better known as the Cordele Pool Room has been around for a very long time in downtown Cordele Georgia. The Cordele Pool Room has many sitting areas for the customer and their family to come in to enjoy a very nice lunch such as Chili dogs which is what they specialize in. They do offer beer, soft drinks, plain milk and chocolate milk in a beer glass which is pretty cool. They have different kinds of ways to make your hot dog such as chili, all the way or custom to your order. They do have pool tables both upfront and back side of the pool room keep in mind at times swearing does get ruff in this place so keep that in mind when bringing in the little ones for a hot dog. They do have a restroom but it's a one stall only which means guys and ladies share it and the bathroom door does NOT lock! If you don't want to go in the pool room you can stand outside and order from the outdoor ordering window which people still use when I come here to visit family in middle Georgia where my father's side of the family lives. This place is one of the best places for a hot dog and a nice cold drink either when your passing thru. The staff are very nice they always greet you when you walk in the door. Some of the guys have known my father for a very long time when my father grew up in Georgia before leaving for the Military boot camp. So if your looking for a nice hot dog to have for lunch and near by check out this place it's delicious and they prepare the hot dog in front of you. read more

Best chili dog I ever ate. Easy to eat two too. If it's not too hot I could see eating four. Cheap weenies taste great. Nothing about all beef on the packaging I guarantee. They boil em up and serve em up hot n wet. Chili is thick, meaty like your momma made. No beans, never met a rabbi, never been to Texas and got enough cyclamates to open a mecuracrome factory. It's the kind of hot dog you could eat in one hand in three bites while riding a bicycle. Bermuda's are cold and crisp chopped that day or cooked see through dealie bobs. Either way they dance to the same tune well with the chili. It's a grocery store hotdog. Bun is fresh and has a deep enough pocket for the chili to set the weenie good. Not deep enough for Chipper Jones to field a grounder but plenty deep to carry the generous load of chili. I don't think I had a single onion fall off. That's a testament to the goodness of the chili dogs here. They know what they are doing here. Let em do it to you. Smiles on both sides of the counter and the joint was clean. Me and my friends are on our way to Jacksonville for spring break. On out way there we stopped at a rest area and chatted with a man who spoke highly of this place. So we took exit 101 and stopped by to try the place. Incredible is all I could say. The employees are nice and I could not eat pork so I got the bean chili dog and was not disappointed. Prices are fair around $1.70 a hot dog. Now I have to stop here every time I travel to florida. O YEAH! We met the guy we talked to at the joint. Oh boy :) read more

Most of the reviews I read are a bit old. In 2017, I think they suffered fire damage. When they remodeled the size was almost doubled, and the pool tables are all in the back half of the open plan. There is more seating both at tables and at the counter. The exterior service window is still there. Scramble dogs have not changed. Addictive as ever. read more

When my husband, his parents, and I visited this pool hall it was a Saturday evening in the late spring. We are big fans of pool and like to play late. We showed up at 8pmish after dinner & we immediately ordered a pitcher of beer. Their beer selection was Bud Heavy, Bud Light, or Michelob Ultra. We chose Ultra, and the only guy working informed us that they woul dbe closing at 9pm so we had 1 hour to play pool. We were appalled that it closed at 9pm on a Saturday night in the heart of "downtown" Cordele. So we thanked the man & started playing & noticed the beer was flat and not cold - so the Tap system was outdated and old. It was literally a ghost town business. We stayed until closing and no one else came in. It's very old, but with the right staff and hours and a little spit shine it could be a great little pool hall, but as of now its not that impressive at all. read more

The Pool Room has always had the best chili dogs. I went by last night to enjoy a scramble dog but the fat jerk behind the counter refused to serve me. So I am on my way back to Atlanta from business in Valdosta and decide to look for a place to eat around dinner time on way back. At that time Cordele was the nearest town. I searched Yelp and nothing stood out in my criteria of casual, sit down place that was local and not a chain. I read the one review of this restaurant (if you could call it that) and decided to try it out. Let's be clear, this is really more of a pool hall that serves limited food items, particularly various chili-dogs. I could complain that they used chicken dogs - what restaurant does that? - but in reality the type of hot dog worked with everything else that went into the plate of two hot dogs (I added and extra) and bun covered with beans, chili and onions. Of course a good dose of yellow mustard is a must buy wanted to taste the homemade chili and beans. The food worked and was worth the stop as the chili and beans were really good and the chicken dog added some texture. The two guys working at the place were very personable and increased my experience. If you are snobby, don't bother stopping. read more
