SD Nails is in the same lot as easy does it, Spicy Lao Kitchen, and Pho Duyen Mai, so parking is a bit fraught. Thankfully, I nabbed a spot and made it on time to my appointment. The nail salon is spacious and clean. I came in the early afternoon and there were very few customers at that time. They play music in the background and have TVs if you wish to watch something. I was given a binder with Diva brand gel nail polish and pursued through, looking for a red. Once I made my initial color decision, Christina got started with nail prep. She is very quick, careful, and precise with the filing and cuticle trim. She has such a light hand! I had no pain, redness, or swelling. She kept her work super neat and brushed nail dust off as she went. She listened carefully to what nail shape I wanted, and checked in with me to make sure I was happy with the shape before proceeding. When Christina applied the first layer of my chosen red to one of my nails, I immediately felt that it was too bright for my tastes. I felt bad speaking up, but Christina was very gracious about it and gave me more time to choose. When I was not happy with any of the reds in the Diva collection, she pulled out the swatches for another brand of gel polishes, and I found a red I was happy with there. I forget the brand but the code was 046. She applied it to another finger for me to see, and I was happy with this darker red. She cleaned off my first finger and started applying thin, neat layers to all of my fingers. I was really impressed by how clean her gel application was. I never felt the brush touch the surrounding skin, and she made sure to clean around and under the nail as she went. I also feel like the UV lamp was not too harsh. Sometimes, I feel a little sunburnt in the fingertips after getting my nails done, and even though I always apply sunscreen prior to a nail appointment, it is still not a pleasant feeling. The lamp here was definitely warm but not irritating. The time was also set appropriately and I never had to re-cure a layer. After the manicure itself, Christina did a super relaxing hand massage, not just half-hearted hand squeezing, and applied cuticle oil. The whole process took 50 minutes, cost ~$30, and I felt well-cared for the whole time. I have been to nail salons that leave me with streaky polish, messy skin, or nail dust under my nails. This is NOT that type of salon. I am super happy with the service and manicure I received here, and will definitely be back. I highly recommend Christina, she is excellent!

The prices are transparent, and you won't be surprised with random add-ons at checkout. One time I was accidentally overcharged, but they immediately refunded me and apologized, which I really appreciated. The salon itself has a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. They take their time and pay great attention to detail, especially with pedicures. They also offer complimentary drinks, which is a nice touch. I brought a friend with me during my last visit and she loved her experience as well. The color selection is something I appreciate because I always have such a hard time finding the perfect shade. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a reliable, affordable, and consistent nail salon.

My boyfriend had a business meeting, and I had some time to kill, so I decided to treat myself and…read moreget my nails done. Based on Yelp reviews, I chose this place for a little self-care on my day off. I booked a gel mani + pedi combo ($80, 1 hr 30 min) online to make sure I'd get in on time. I arrived about 15 minutes early and told them I had an appt for the gel combo and they were able to seat me right away. The salon wasn't too busy and just a couple of other clients. I was asked to pick out a color and directed to a spa chair for my pedicure. I noticed a younger female employee sitting nearby, watching a male technician work on another client's pedicure. It looked like she was in training, which I completely understand because everyone has to start somewhere, and I appreciate that she was eager to learn. However, she ended up being the one assigned to me. She was very kind and polite, but it quickly became clear that she was inexperienced. I have a manicure license myself, so I can usually tell when techniques aren't quite there yet. Sometimes I just want to relax and be pampered rather than do my own nails, which is why this was especially disappointing. Unfortunately, the results didn't meet expectations. My big toenail came out crooked, and my cuticles, which are usually my favorite part of the service were barely cleaned up if even touched. It felt like I paid close to $150 just to soak my feet, polish, and a massage. The service took almost two hours, and at the end, she offered a complimentary shoulder massage. While I appreciated the gesture, it felt a bit awkward as I was seated facing a printer while she massaged my shoulders and also felt like an afterthought. When I went to the front to pay, I was expecting the $80 I had booked. Instead, I was told my total was over $100. I politely asked why, since I had scheduled the gel mani/pedi combo, and was told it was because I received a "spa" pedicure, which costs more. However, this was never explained during booking or before the service started. The website didn't mention any upgrade or price difference, and I wasn't given an option to approve or decline it beforehand. That lack of transparency was frustrating and honestly added to the disappointment. I genuinely feel bad leaving a negative review because the girl was very nice, but overall, I left feeling disappointed and unsatisfied with the quality of the service. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Sorry in advance for toe photos!

This time I got a Gel-X set with the shade Bubble Bath, and my nail tech was Jesse. He was great throughout the entire appointment, checking in during the process to make sure I liked the shape and length before moving forward, which I really appreciated. A year ago I mentioned in my review that the fills didn't work out well for me, so I stopped doing fills altogether and now just remove the Gel-X and get a fresh set each time. Since switching to that routine, I've loved the results. The quality has been consistently great and the whole service usually takes about an hour, which feels efficient without feeling rushed. My nails always come out clean, polished, and exactly what I asked for. Overall, it's been a really positive experience and I'll definitely keep coming back.

Back in September, I came in to get my wedding nails done. Susan did my toes, but another nail tech worked on my hands. I don't remember her name, but I explained that I have shorter, wider fingers, and I immediately noticed she was applying very small nail tips. I mentioned my concern before she continued, but she dismissed it and assured me she knew what she was doing. Once the acrylic was applied, it became obvious to everyone that the tips were far too small. I was then sent to another tech to try to fix them. They did the best they could, but because the original tips were too small to begin with, the final result still wasn't what I had hoped for, especially for my wedding nails. After that experience, I honestly started questioning whether the 30-minute drive was still worth it. A few months later, my friend and I decided to come back for birthday pedicures because I really did want to see Susan again. However, once my pedicure was finished and Susan stepped away, my friend's nail tech, Rena, told me to put my socks and shoes on and get up to leave, even though my friend's nails were still being done. It made both of us feel rushed, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. I've always loved coming here, which is why these experiences have been so disappointing. Sadly, it's made me reconsider whether I'll be returning in the future.
