We had Terry remodel our 1940s bathroom - electrical, plumbing, tile, tub, painting, toilet, sink,…read morelighting, cabinet, exhaust fan, grab bars, counter, plaster repair - the works! It's now been about 4 months since he finished the work and each day I look at our new bathroom and think "wow!' He did a great job! He was patient and always responsive to any questions or issues, and cleaned up each day. Great workmanship too. He started out by measuring and answering any questions we had, offering ideas here and there but letting us make our own decisions. Unlike some other contractors, he did not give fancy 3D architectural renderings, nor did he accompany us to each supplier to pick out products. Here's what his process was, which was perfect for us. We received a proposal contract which listed each item or task, along with a cost allowance for each item. If we chose something more expensive than its allowance, the final price would reflect the increase. If what we chose cost less than the allowance, the final cost would go down by that much. So we had a bottom line price from the start and would have the final decision on expenses. He then also gave us a list of his suggested suppliers from which to pick out all of the products. We worked with those suppliers to make selections at their respective showrooms (they work with TLC regularly), and they forwarded our selections to Terry. A few selections we made were from suppliers not on his list, which was fine, but the places he suggested were where most of the items came from. When all selections were made, he provided us with a revised proposal contract reflecting our selections and revised costs. Then he - not us - did the ordering from each vendor to insure that all of the parts and pieces fit together and would work, plus that way his contractor discount was applied. His final contract to us was transparent and showed all prices. No additional markups, no change order fees, no nonsense. If someone wants computer-generated architectural renderings, having him present at each supplier meeting, one central showroom where every needed product and samples are all in one place, then this type of contractor isn't likely for you. If however, you want a remodeling contractor that not only provides the quote but also does the actual work himself, with reliable suppliers that work with him, with a fair price and a minimal amount of stress (if that's possible lol), then TLC's a good choice. Would we recommend TLC Contracting? If you haven't it already guessed: the answer is absolutely!

Every step of the process was handled with care. He provided clear communication, thoughtful recommendations, and a level of craftsmanship that's increasingly rare. He didn't just "fix" things; he restored them with precision and pride, making the final result even better than the original. The team was punctual, respectful of our home, and incredibly organized. They kept the project on schedule, maintained a clean work environment, and made sure we understood what was happening at each stage. We wouldn't hesitate to hire them again or recommend them to anyone looking for top‑tier restoration work. If you want quality, integrity, and beautiful results, this is the contractor you want.

The top part of the deck, made from teak, is still fine, but all the rails (aside from the main supports) and bottom of the stairs were pine, so many of those parts needed replacement due to wood rot. Additionally, the slats that framed around the porch weren't attached properly, so Marcus took them all off and reattached them correctly and securely. He also removed an electrical outlet that wasn't working and capped off the wiring. The baseboards were also replaced with PVC. It was a full-day project, and these guys worked hard. I can't say enough for their professionalism--from the quality work they did (plus explaining everything to me), and beginning and ending the day with cordial words. Such politeness is not a give in these days. The day began with a friendly greeting and ended in the evening with, "Have a nice night," not to mention polite interactions throughout the day. They also cleaned up perfectly, removing all the old wood. Even though they went beyond what we discussed, and Marcus did the extra work (wooden slats that weren't attached properly and a piece of wood behind the stairs that was replaced with PVC which we hadn't talked about initially) Marcus stuck to his original estimate. ***I would recommend these guys without reservation.*** I will also add that their pricing was very fair with an estimate given ahead of time. It was an stress-free day. Thanks Marcus and Devon.

Worst paint job ever…read more They 'completed' the job when I found they had 'lost' a piece of siding from the chimney...never told me or replaced it until I complained. The roofer who came out after told me that the side of the chimney that isn't visible from the ground was never painted at all. That has been verified in photos. They put the primer on when rain was scheduled...it ran off and they didn't redo it. Many places on the house were just not painted, you can see that the underside of each piece of siding is still the old color (beige). Neighbor who watched it done said they sprayed but didn't back brush at all. They did it in July 2019 and the paint didn't last, starting coming off in sections after two years. Also, they are just rude! Stepped on my drainage gutters and wouldn't replace. Put my front door rugs on top of my shrubs, killing one of them. Clean up was poor. Called me at work and yelled at me when I wouldn't tell my 10 year old child to open the door to give them some paint and then wanted her to write them a check? Told me it would be no problem to come back out after the roofers to do touch-ups but they didn't and they never came back to fix all the spots they missed (despite my documenting and sending photos.) Put drainage pipes on the 2nd story back crooked (it's in the front and very noticeably crooked.). They came back to 'fix it' and it's still not straight. Many other gutter downspouts were never properly re-attached. Never saw Brent after he took my check. Just don't.

(Also, I know my profile says we stil live in FL, but no, we are here in Milwaukee and had work done here in Milwaukee.) FIRST THINGS FIRST: The greatest proof that a client is happy is if they plan to come back...and WE PLAN TO COME BACK! We have a room addition we've been dreaming of, and as soon as it's in our budget, we're calling Mark Brick and getting this going! We want no one else. SECOND: The actual project they did for us: We have a very small little stone cottage-style home that had only one bath. There seemed to be no place to add a second bath without uglifying and shrinking a bedroom. But no! Mark found the perfect solution and B&E built us a private main-suite bath using space from three hallway and bedroom closets, and the result is SO SEAMLESS, people cannot believe that this bathroom wasn't ALWAYS here. And (I don't know how they did it), but we managed to not lose much storage. THIRD: It's gorgeous--prettiest bathroom we've ever had--and the work was precise and pristine. Everyone from carpenters to plumbers were top-notch professionals. FOURTH: How does this company respond to extra requests, questions, or issues? Again--perfection! Bob was our Project Manager, and no one could possibly be better. He always came over to check his people's work himself and even rolled up his sleeves once when he was not satisfied. We love B&E. We will use no one else next time. P.S. We had an independent inspector come afterward, and he approved and asked who we used. They took NO shortcuts.

It's not a "fixer" but it's old, and needs a lot of work to get things current. I already have an HVAC tech coming tomorrow to repair the existing unit until I'm ready to replace it and another guy coming to replace galvanized pipes throughout. Money isn't the issue, timing is. I have to spread tasks out, but I need to get everything done. I found B&E via NARI, which should be vetting the contractors. Apparently they didn't vet these guys, because they sent me an email back telling me to go to NARI to find a contractor to do what I want. Seriously? A contractor that DOESN'T want money? I suspect it's just Milwaukee, but I have to find another contractor. Meanwhile, it was important that I leave this review AND, if NARI takes negative feedback, I'll do that too. Anything and everything to ensure these guys go out of business.

First of all their own people are designers and project managers, all labor is done by sub-contractors. Unless you are assigned their "A" team be very concerned because we initially were not and spent 4 miserable months under poor project management and poor carpentry work which had to be torn out twice. Nothing was installed to code twice and the railing was only held in place by three nails. During these first 4 months there was not one minute of work done one whole month. Finally executive management visited our home and immediately said to tear out everything and proceeded to change the project manager and assigned their No. 1 project manager, carpenter, painter and carpet installer. In just over another month because of minor problems we have a finished project. Total project took 98 days (only Mon-Fri counts) so we asked for price concessions since it exceeded the contract of 90 days and we are paying over $30,000. They conceded like $300 and said the delays were largely because of scheduling sub-contractors through a very busy 2022 fall. Of course there is wordage in the contract they can quote. It would have been a big risk on our part to go to court and possibly shelling out even more money to cover that expense. Definitely a terrible experience.
