I went in asking for a 3 paged double sided print and was told it'd be ready for me sometime next week due to holiday orders. I asked if there was any way I could get it any sooner, for their website says same day service for most orders and I was only needing 3 pages and he said he'd try and squeeze me in and have it ready tomorrow. I was coming from out of town and wasn't going to be in the area the next day and had to find another printer. What's frustrating is that a peer of mine printing the same amount went in the next day and got her project trimmed, folded, and stapled in 40 minutes. I was looking forward to receiving amazing service after reading all the reviews, but I guess I just showed up on the wrong day and was helped by the wrong guy. TALK ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I feel GUILTY! I got a print job done there. I don't live in Portland and was going to be passing through and pick up the job when I was able. They got it done quickly, efficiently. The staff people were friendly and helpful on the phone, always accommodating. Here's the guilty part: Something came up and I could not pick up the job until after they closed. In fact, I would only be passing through Portland around 12:30 A.M.! THEY REOPENED THE STORE AND MET ME AT 12:30 A.M.! Guilt. Except it wasn't 12:30 a.m. It was 12:52 a.m. Guilt guilt. They had also perfected the imperfect not-so-camera ready files I got them. I am concerned that posting this review will heighten expectations for future customers. I called the next day to complement to the boss the employees who helped me out. Turns out it was the owner and his wife who came out in the middle of their night on a Tuesday night to accommodate me. Copyman is the go-to place for all of your Passport photo needs. My husband and I were trying to get non-standard passport photos done (China, along with many other countries no longer use 2X2). We had tried three of their neighborhood competitors with no success. Their competitors were ignorant of the change and still managed to charge us for pictures that did not meet the requirements. The staff at Copyman were up to dat eon the requirements which was such a relief. Staff assisted us straight away, and provided the service at a better price than their competitors. These people! They are soooo helpful, accommodating, reasonably priced, easy-going, fast, high quality--the adjectives go on and on. I called them at the very last possible minute (40 minutes before closing on Friday for the weekend) to get a poster-size photo printed for a shindig on Sunday. My boss was counting on it and I FORGOT to do it earlier in the day. These WONDERFUL people said no problem. I sent them the photo and 20 minutes later they let me know it was ready. I couldn't believe it. Not only that, they had mounted it on a foam board--which I was going to buy separately and mount myself because I thought that was way too much to ask at the last minute. I almost cried when I picked it up finished. Thank you, Tyler and Josh and the other worker. Nice enough guys and reasonably priced, but awful service! Dropped off my items to be laminated (15 8x11" sheets of paper, nothing crazy) and the guy told me to pick it up in an hour... Went to run a couple of errands and came back in an hour - they have not even started on my lamination. The guy asks for 20 more minutes, so I leave, pay for more parking, then I come back in 30, and they STILL didn't even start them. He says, "Sorry, I'll do them now" and starts. Then he STOPS my lamination as I am sitting there and helps another customer do something on a screen... I tell him that I'll just come back if he needs me to (because I don't want a parking ticket) and he acts like he didn't just waste an hour and a half of my time with nothing to show for it. Do you ever go in for copies to a national chain (not naming any names, but I'm thinking of one that starts with F and ends in X) and you see several people looking busy behind the counter, and none of them looks up to make eye contact with you to help? Well, that definitely does not happen at Copyman. Nice background music, very attentive staff, carefully explaining my options for a large job with special paper, reasonable price, and have I mentioned great customer service? Also, look around the edge of the store. They have a lot of funky looking and very specialized printing, labeling, folding, laminating, etc. machines that are pretty interesting if you're into that sort of thing. :-) read more

The best print shop in Portland. You will not find another company who gives you this level of care and professionalism. Martin and Lilly are masters of the trade, I wouldn't trust anyone else to execute my important projects. I will never go to Kinko's ever again. I love Copyman, I am customer for life! It was the afternoon of Memorial Day and I had a job interview the next morning, but the perfect bound portfolio Arc made for me had dark colors and the craftsmanship of the binding was horrible. I call Copyman and sure enough they were working on the holiday. I go in to discuss my project with Martin, who is the kindess, hardest working man, and show him the unsatisfactory job that Arc did and he says he can do better. Then I tell him how soon I need it. At first he says it's impossible to print and bind my 82-page, 11.5"x11.5", perfect bound portfolio with a printed cover on card stock by tomorrow morning. But Martin and Lilly didn't want to disappoint. The plan was he was going to hustle to finish it just in time for my interview in the morning. But to my surprise, Martin calls me three hours later saying he finished it and it was ready for pick-up. WHAT?! Not only was it lightning fast but the craftsmanship was immaculate and colors vibrant! My PDF did not give him much room for error, but his experience and tricks-of-the-trade allowed him to execute my project with masterful precision. Martin and Lilly saved my interview!! Due to icy conditions, my neighborhood copy store was closed. I decided to visit Copyman. First of all, wonderful location. Very close to PSU, right by the Portland Art Museum. The store was clean and looked like what a copy store should look like, tidy and organized. I needed a couple documents printed, and the friendly young man working helped me pick out the perfect paper. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The only negative aspect I did notice was the two dollar fee for printing something off a thumb drive or from an email. Both of the documents were formatted in PDF, and were exported off my thumb drive. Other than that, lovely place that offers all your printing needs. Thank you Copyman! read more

Nice folks running this place. I'm guessing they are husband and wife. Got my passport photo taken and processed inside of 15 minutes ($10). The husband (?) photographed me and seemed to genuinely care whether I thought it was a flattering shot. I assured him, "As long as it looks like me, it doesn't really matter." Love this place - they are very fast and very nice. They can fold paper that Kinko's turns down as being too thick as well.

Well, I guess I am going to have to buck the trend, and say I did not have a good experience with Copyman. Really bummed, because I had heard great things about this place, and was hoping to take my business here, instead of a certain Cooperate Art Store. When I first called to ask about doing art prints, Martin answered the phone and was super helpful and friendly. He said it would be no problem at all. It seemed like things were going good, until I came in today to bring by some files I wanted prints of. It may have just been the luck of the draw who ended up helping me at the desk, but the woman just wasn't helpful. In fact, she kinda just stood there and stared at me for a few moments, which frankly made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I realize some of this may have been a language barrier thing, which I completely understand, but I just did not feel very welcome, or have any confidence that they could help me with what I needed. The woman did finally show me a binder of available papers, but there wasn't a big selection there, and when I tried to explain that one of the prints I wanted done was a blank greeting card, all I pretty much got was a blank stare in return. (Martin, however, did tell me they could very much do greeting cards). It was just...confusing, to say the least. The woman then told me I could bring in my own paper, but at that point I was just ready to leave. Again, maybe if I had been helped by another employee things might have been different, I don't know. I have a lot of prints I want done, and I guess I will be going back to that certain Cooperate Art Store for them. Bummer. read more
