Here's why: integrity, methodical and careful approach to the problem, they are both very knowledgeable and capable, they are both extremely helpful and generous with their time, and their excellent character! Yes, I said character and integrity. These qualities quickly became evident in a few minutes of their friendly conversation about what I needed. I was greatly impressed by how genuinely they cared about me and my computer problem, and the obvious pride they take in doing each job right and doing it well. You can trust these gentlemen to do the best job possible for you. And if you need it fast, they will do their best to accommodate you. All this at very competitive prices! Here are the details: My old Toshiba laptop crashed, and it had been weeks (months?) since I had backed up my work. I know, no excuse, but you're in the same backup boat so don't judge me. Until COVID, I had access to a rather extensive company IT department, and with that option now gone, I was stuck. I began looking around, asking around, Googling, Yelping, etc. I even asked the T-Mobile guy who was facilitating my migration from Verizon, just because he was such an obviously tech-savvy guy. Good thing I did. Without hesitation, he recommended the Copy Center. I balked at going to a copy place for a serious computer repair, but the T-Mobile guy said they refer all of their phone repairs over there, and they repair computers, too. It was only a block away, so no harm in checking it out. Here's what I learned: first of all these guys GROUND themselves when they work on your stuff. Generally speaking, only old guys know how critical this is, but I'm one of them. Most techs today do not do this, so a slight misstep could fry your system and you would never know why. Kevin and Justin had me right there (it was obvious that their knowledge base and skill set were exemplary), but the good news continued. Rather than assuming anything from my description of the symptoms, they began by trying to start my laptop to see what it did (or didn't do). From there they explained to me each of the parts that could be causing the issue, and the remedy for each. They determined that the battery was indeed dead as I had said, then they tried a static discharge (a simple fix if that's the problem). When that didn't work, they tried their universal variable power supply to see if all I needed was a new power cord (another cheap quick fix if it works - it didn't). At that point, they knew the problem was the motherboard - not worth fixing. I needed my data from the hard drive, so they pulled out the drive and scanned it for viruses. After eliminating any viruses, they determined that the drive was still good and readable, and then they inserted it into this neat little box which allows me to use it on any other computer as an external hard drive. Kevin showed me how to access all my data on it, and I was good to go. I had all of my data on a now useable external hard drive. And the price was very reasonable! Wait - there's more! I had purchased a brand new laptop (BTW, if you're wondering what computer to buy, talk to these guys first!), but was having trouble setting it up. Kevin told me to bring it in and they would help me. He walked me through the set up process, which took a long time, but he was patient and saw it through to the end. Then he downloaded Spotify and Mozilla for me, and then he downloaded the virus scanner he recommends and wrote out the instructions for using it. I had brought with me the latest version of MS Office which I needed to install. Kevin walked me through that, too! The version I had purchased was the "one-and-done" single use version (as opposed to the subscription version). Microsoft makes a big deal about only being able to install this product on ONE device and NO other device. My old computer had a prior version of the same thing. After inputting the unique code, we got to the download page, and there were TWO versions of Office available in my MS account. One was the previous version from my old computer which I supposedly could not use again. We tried downloading that one and it worked just fine. I didn't need the new version of MS Office. Kevin suggested that I try to get my money back for it. Even though it had been over four months since I bought it, and even though we had scratched off that weird stuff covering the unique entry code, I got my $125 back! So, after over two hours of computer set up and software installation, I had my new computer all ready to go. Kevin even started the backup process for me, transferring all of my files from my old (now external) hard drive to my shiny new computer. Again, what he charged for all of this was extremely reasonable. I left feeling like part of the family, confident that I now have a friend who will help me with any future computer issues that may arise! Thank you Kevin and Justin!! read more

Amazing customer service! I can't say enough about the copy center. My laptop died and the amount of time spent to try to revive it went above and beyond. When it was determined it was beyond hope they made some recommendations for a new lap top and when I purchased my new one at Costco they transferred all of the information from my old hard drive into a neat little package and restored it to my new laptop. They also cleaned up all of the fluff that accompanied my new laptop! They were very reasonable and I will refer them and use them whenever the need arises. I bought a defective connector but didn't know it was defective until I was some distance away and was unable to return for over one month. I called and said that I would be back in town in about one month and they said if it was defective they would refund the purchase price. After checking it out and determining that it was defective they immediately gave me a refund. DO NOT GET YOUR PHONE SCREEN REPAIRED HERE!!!! They use the cheapest, turd screens money can buy. You can't view it with polarized shades (blacked out) so you have to take your sunglasses off every time you look at your phone. The image quality is pixellated and degraded. It also has a ghosting effect where you see the keyboard on top of other images (video/photos). My friend also got his screen repaired here and has the same issues. As if that wasn't enough the phone dropped on carpet 2 weeks later and the new screen cracked. I had to go to Reno to HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM and they did an excellent job with a high quality screen repair. When he removed the screen installed by Copy Center he was blown away at how poor the quality was, showing me it was "cheap real glass" which is why it fractured so easily and "Should never be used on phones". Don't let these people near your hardware. I took my I Phone 6(with original factory screen) for replacement because I dropped it but good! Upon return: 1. Touch screen ID no longer work. 2. Speaker phone sounded like a old time radio,not clear or loud like before. 3. The screen would go black and flash on and off making the phone unusable. In order to have a usable phone I decided to order a new screen and replace it myself. Upon opening the phone I realized that the light diffuser and front camera lens clip were missing,I won't bore you with a screen replacement tutorial- bottom line is the other problems can be attributed to shoddy workmanship. My computer recently locked up on a permanent basis. I took it to Kevin at the copy center and he confirmed that the hard drive was cooked. We discussed my options and I decided to have Kevin install a new solid state hard drive. He went so far as to re install some programs on my computer, and was able to access the old hard drive to save some of my files. Do not get iPhone screen replaced here. I have gotten my phone fixed twice here, costing me a total of $200. Both times, my phone has shattered from minimal impact. I took my iPhone 6 plus in to repair my front screen because it was cracked pretty bad but still worked perfectly but it was getting embarrassing. As soon as I left the store I noticed my touch screen acting funny and unresponsive. Called to tell Kevin what was going on but it was after hours that day 5:30...the following day was traveling for work but went back in the very next day only 48 hours later to get it fixed. In that time a pressure crack formed at the top where the speaker line is and the only thing he could tell me was this is the reason the touch screen isn't working. Obviously not the case because it was happening immediately after and not to mention my screen was Shattered! when I took it in initially and it worked just fine. This was a installation error and or faulty glass and he will not do anything for me. I don't even care about the new crack, I told him I just want my touch screen to work like before but he said sorry it's not his fault. I spent $165 with a local business because it was convenient to fix my fully functional iPhone and now I have a cracked iPhone that doesn't work at all. Thanks Copy Center. I'll gladly head down to Reno from now on and go to Apple for any additional issues because I'm sure they would back there product and installers. BAD ATTITUDE AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I found out that they could replace my cracked iPhone 5c screen at the Truckee Thursday event. First, they were part of a very fun community event that benefitted the community, local businesses and schools. Second, were very friendly. I arrived to their shop on Monday with my phone. The person I talked to was finishing up a phone conversation so I waited about 30 seconds for attention. The transaction was straight forward. Filled out the form, left my phone and returned about an hour later to pick up my repaired phone. They charged $110 and the charge is $125 in SFO Bay Area Apple stores. The state sales tax is a little less up here. I was greeted pleasantly, the work was done efficiently, and was a bit cheaper than the Bay Area. What's not to like about this place? While on vacation in Truckee, my iPhone developed a large crack across the screen. Although I contemplated waiting until after vacation to get the screen fixed, the crack continued to expand and worsen. A quick Google search revealed Copy Center in Truckee. I called and was relieved to know they could fix my phone efficiently and effectively. Right from the beginning, there was a no-nonsense approach and a level of expertise beyond my best hopes! Not only did they replace the screen but they fixed missing hardware from the last time my screen was replaced by one of the largest names in iPhone repair.
