Metro Market. So I arrive, and go through the produce department. I'm a date checker. Anyway, I noticed the celery hearts had a BEST BY date on September 3. It's the 25th. I very nicely mentioned it To the guy setting out produce. He responded that those dates arbitrary, and that it's just celery. I opted for the other celery, get home, and notice a bad smell, and it's a stalk of celery that's absolutely ROTTEN. Arbitrary, fine sir. At the checkout, I appreciate that my groceries are bagged. However, I do have the expectation that they are properly bagged. 1. Keep the frozen stuff together. 2. Keep the produce together. 3. Keep the refrigerated stuff together. 4. Don't put eggs on the very bottom of a bag, with heavy stuff on top. Then throw the bag in my cart. Not only do I have broken eggs, my bread is smushed and I had sandwich meat shoved between a bag with cereal bars, oh, and one of the three frozen pot pies in the bottom of the bag. The other pot pies were out in the bag with bananas. Bit the biggest deal, but a huge nuisance, especially given the attitudes from the produce guy and the bag boy who asked why it mattered about keeping frozen stuff together. As I was unloading my groceries, I feel like such nonsense should be recognized. read more
