I cannot say enough good things about copper springs east. I'm in their IOP program and, although it isn't inpatient, it's still really, really helpful. The staff are all really super nice and I always feel incredibly welcomed when I walk in. The therapist is kind and knowledgeable and I trust him completely with my mental care. I would absolutely, hands down recommend coming here for help if it's needed. read more

After reading all the negative reviews I am very afraid for my granddaughter that Banner had transferred her last night. The facility will not allow you to talk to your in patient family member, you have the option of leaving a message is all. My granddaughter left me a message "sue the life out of the hospital and be here ASAP". Well as Banner can tell you, law suits are my specialty. I am not apposed to go before a judge and if there are any issues, we will walk away millionaires. I'm so tired of the pathetic help provided by all of the medical and rehab facilities. They seem to think patients have no rights. So far from what I'm reading and seeing and after the note from my granddaughter I will be filing a law suit. I show up to talk to my granddaughter, only on Saturday and Wednesday is anyone allowed to talk to a family member. She called me crying saying they're fabricating the hospital notes from banner which is quite opposite of the truth. Once again minimum wage employees are determining their care. She's not received any of her meds. She has severe neuropathy and they refuse to let her use her walker. What they've told her is total opposite of the truth. Lying to keep her longer to get more insurance. She's not on a petition yet they're treating her worse than prisoners in maximum security. This was voluntary and they're threatening her to make it non voluntary. This is a horrible place. Going to see about filing a class action lawsuit with all the others that had issues here. Called the attorney and just waiting to hear back. My intent is to remove several licenses and getting millions $$. Now they're threatening to petition her because she is asking to be discharged. She came to the facility on Thursday and won't be seen until Monday. read more

Do not send your loved one here unless you are prepared for frustration, stress, and a lack of accountability. My brother is autistic and requires clear verbal guidance and assistance with paperwork. He went to this facility for an outpatient therapy program but was mistakenly processed into inpatient care. He clearly told the front desk he was there for outpatient therapy and even asked them to confirm. Despite this, staff instructed him to continue filling it out without clarification. What's even more concerning is that his therapist, Eddie who has seen him before continued the intake process without recognizing or correcting the mistake. Meanwhile, staff called my mother saying my brother never showed up for outpatient therapy, causing panic when he wasn't answering his phone. An hour later, they called back to say he had been admitted as an inpatient. My mother asked for an explanation, Eddie eventually said that if my brother is checked out, he would call the police and that he could be placed somewhere worse where we wouldn't be able to find him. That kind of response is completely inappropriate and unacceptable, especially given my brother's condition. We went to the facility in person and asked for a supervisor. He was the only staff member who showed any compassion, but ultimately said there was little he could do beyond reporting the situation. When my mother spoke with the director, she saw nothing wrong with what had happened. There was no accountability, no resolution, and no corrective action. This experience was deeply upsetting and handled with a complete lack of care, communication, and professionalism. read more

Whatever you do, don't go there. Their actions cost a man his life. They screw up by not just giving a man the incorrect medication but also at a lethal dosage. They discovered his body 3 hours later. They could have gotten him help in those 3 hours, but even when they realized that he was given the wrong medication, they did nothing. read more

If I could give a zero I would. This place is the WORST for responding to medical record request!!! CBI told me they couldn't even get through. It told them their mailbox is full and they are not able to take any more messages. I personally went over there to request the paperwork myself. No response. My son's records took them 6 months to get to me! My daughter had to have her court date pushed back because they STILL haven't received her paperwork! She was discharged with no prescriptions. When her clinic called they were informed that the doctor was on vacation!!! Horrible place. Needs to be shutdown!! read more

I was there for a involuntary mental health hold. I was in worse condition after being there only 24hr, I was shipped off to another facility. I was stalked and harrased by staff, they were trying to get me to confess to child abuse to enter into my file. Staff are cliques of gang members out to do more harm than good! I felt like I had a target on my back! I have never been so humiliated in all my life! I did not need this kind of mental abuse! read more

Everything needs to improve. I didn't feel safe working there as an employee. No real protection for the workers. The patients can harm you in any way shape or form that they want to. The "nurses and PCs" won't help they walk away. All sorts of alarms codes many times a day. Not a safe place. Can't even talk to a receptionist or the human resources department because nobody answers their phones or are "away". Human resources is a joke with this place. Would never recommend this place to anyone I actually care about. read more

I was referred to this facility by my therapist after telling her how much I was struggling to cope with the recent loss of my uncle. I was overwhelmed with grief, anxiety, and survivors guilt and said something that I shouldn't have said. My therapist told me that coming here would be a nice little break, and I can take some time to focus on myself and get my head on straight. She also stated that I would be released in 24 hours. This sounded pretty good to me at the time, so I decided to give it a try. Giving it a try, was one of the worst decisions I've made in my entire life. Intake took FOREVER, and after getting settled in, I quickly realized that this was not the place for me. I was on the same floor as patients who were detoxing, just left jail, and experiencing EXTREME psychosis. It was also co ed which I was not aware of. After 24 hours, I explained to the doctor, psychiatrist, and all of my nurses that I was ready to go home. I was crying because I missed my family deeply, and being there only seemed to make my anxiety worse. However they did not listen, and I ended up staying for two more days. They kept trying to give me meds that I didn't need, and I refused all except for the Trazadone to help me sleep. Even after taking it though, I still barely got any sleep. As soon as I would fall asleep, one of the patients would have a huge outburst causing me to wake up. This was super frustrating. The pillows and beds also suck, and they kept it freezing in the rooms, and only gave ONE blanket. This place is not voluntary as advertised! They will hold you there for no apparent reason, even after speaking with your family and hearing how safe your environment at home is! They make it seem like leaving AMA is an option, but when you bring it up they scare you by saying you could possibly get sent somewhere worse. Gym time is non existent even when there's a group of people that want to go. They will have it listed on the daily schedule, but will not take you. Smh! This experience is why I will never do in patient again. A few positives: Group therapy was helpful, I learned a lot, and I looked forward to every session. However, music therapy was my fav! My roommate was amazing, and her kindness and support got me through this experience. I also connected with a few other people from different walks of life, and they also helped me get through my stay at Copper Springs! The techs were awesome, and I could tell that they really cared about the patients. Curtis and Brin were my favorite In particular. Curtis was so understanding, and he took the time to actually listen to me. He was supportive in every way, and I felt safe when he was there at night. Brin, would come and sit with me during the day and we talked about The Walking Dead lol. These conversations made such a huge impact because I felt like I was back at home. If you are thinking about coming here for whatever reason, I highly recommend doing research first, and taking the time to really think about it!!! read more

I gave 1 star because they don't have anything lower. I arrived at 930 am voluntary, did the assessment then waited for 8 hours so they could find a bed. I told them just give me my stuff and I will come back some other time. They told me outright I couldn't leave and if I insisted on leaving they would petition me for a 72 hour psych hold. They made my anxiety go through the roof. And they proceeded to send me to a hospital that made me feel like a prisoner. Stay away from this "Mental Health"facility!!!! read more

Staff are amazing and actually care about you as a person, not just a number. They answer questions no matter how obnoxious you are they still help. They have a set schedule so you know what groups or breaks and food time is. The patients are welcoming and diverse. There haven't been any physical fights between anyone which is rare in this setting. I never want to go back obviously but if I did, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. read more

i would like to start my review by highlighting the amazing care of Fatima the recreational therapist, the BHTs Raul and Misty, & Dallas the nurse were amazing!! they are genuinely dedicated to mental health and improving patients lives. most of the other staff though, are clearly there for nothing more than a paycheck. during my stay patients were subject to physical & sexual abuse. patients were not believed when telling the staff what had happened to them. patients were repeatedly lied to and told forgetfulness is common in the mentally ill despite having witnesses who heard them say the same things. i had to see multiple naked patients, patient shitting on the floor, period blood on the chairs and the floor, fights, abuse, and so much more. during a lesson on forgiveness, the therapist Angel said if you were sexually or physically abused you should forgive them and think about what made them do that to you, and show compassion towards those who violated you. those were her words. absolutely disgusting when so many patients are admitted for their trauma of dealing with things like that. there was an instance where a patient started throwing up multiple times outside and many patients had to yell for help and ask to get him water. they just stared and another patient had to go get him water, and while she was doing that the BHT's (i remember Mia specifically) started laughing at the patient who was red all over vomiting and never even asked him if he was okay. there was a patient with special needs i was left to babysit half of my stay, she needs intensive one on one care and i was forced to babysit her and focus on her instead of getting the help i needed. the staff would continuously bring her to me to help her and do things for her. i had to find empty patient rooms to hide and cry to get away from her because the staff would not pay attention to her when she desperately needed that. it wasn't until the very last day her & i were that that she was given a tech to be with her. her roommate begged the last night for one of them to be moved so she could get some sleep as she would flicker the lights, go in her bed, and scream at the top of her lungs during the night. this patient also assaulted another by dumping hot coffee all over him and the staff did not care. i was also left with another disabled patient who was not being taken care of as a roommate, who would leave used diapers on the floor and diarrhea all over the toilet seat so i had to wipe it down every single time. (shit & piss on the floor as well). a patient was badly sexually assaulted within his first couple hours of being there and his people on the outside had to fight to get him out. during intake i was in the waiting room for 12 hours and when they finally did my intake i was repeatedly sworn at by the BHT Priscilla and she told me "im so fucking stressed" when i walked into that office with bruises on my face after being assaulted and my soul gone just trying to get help. It was so discouraging. during intake as well, a BHT left his keys directly next to me and walked away. that could have been so dangerous. they would also leave us alone in the intake room without any supervision. one night, they entirely missed my dose and i woke up at 2 am asking why they didn't give me my meds. patients have contraband left and right, every drug you can think of!this place needs to be shut down, and we will make sure it is. do not come here. do not send your loved ones here. it will only break your spirit more. read more

Every single person that works at this hospital is treated great. Nurses are very helpful and so are the Patient care advocate or pca run around all day to help with ANYTHING anytime. I have been to both units both Maple unit and Laurel unit. This is the only place I can or will go if I need to detox and my mental health! read more

Took my son here today on the advice of a police office and the crisis line! For severe alcoholism and mental issues! They did a 2 and a half hour assessment and then told us there was nothing they could do! AND it's because he has no insurancethey are in it for the money only! Not to help people! I called earlier and told the receptionist that we had applied for Access but I am fully aware they they are in it for the money only! Sad, horrible, non caring place!!!! read more

A great place to go if you want to add to your mental distress. Reception staff was non existent for over 30 min, when one shows up, is quick to have you fill out the insurance paperwork then you'll be taken into the "back". There you'll find very small waiting rooms full of poor sobs in various states of withdrawals/mental crisis left alone for hours. You may also notice the 2 doors covered in plywood, where some poor fool fought to get out. -When you decide to leave thats when the real fun begins, its easier to cancel a car warranty. As a US Army combat veteran and 20 year law enforcement officer with a bit of experience with mental health facilities how this place is open and legal is beyond me. Unless you want a taste of escape and evasion training. These places need to learn the paperwork can wait, you got people in a bad spot looking for help! Get that sorted then worry about the 8 forms. I hope the kid laying on the floor for 3 hours got some help eventually.... read more

Outstanding facility! I was initially very nervous because I'd spent a few days at a place up in Scottsdale and didn't have a good experience. Copper Springs East was completely different. I was warmly greeted by Michelle, who was simply fantastic from the get go. She was the perfect representation of this place. One of the patients, Anna, was really welcoming as well and I was initially confused until I realized how genuine and amazing she is as a person. Ciara and John Nathan, my besties, you rock!! Ayiesha was the best roommate ever! Absolutely did not expect to feel so much love, support, and hope and definitely didn't expect it from the get go. If you're at home and feeling all alone, just pack a bag and head on over. You'll find your people here. Don't continue to feel alone. At Copper Springs you'll walk with your people. You won't feel alone. First days were difficult, but that was quickly replaced by the love and caring of the patients and staff alike. Initially, I regretted my decision to go there and wanted to go home. However, I was surprised to find nurses who obviously cared so very much about their patients. Ellen, Michelle, and Gretchen were people who truly stuck out as devoted and caring members of the staff. Thanks also to Soi, Destiny, and Sam. So many others i would like to thank as well, but I have a tendency to forget names. Apologies as I wish I could single many others out as well. I wasn't sure about Gretchen at first, but quickly realized that she takes things personally because she genuinely cares so very deeply for her patients. Gretchen is awesome! The patients definitely helped me as they were so supportive. I left with a phone tree of people I now see as supportive friends despite my only sharing a week with them. You really get to know the people here in a short period of time. If you vape, know that you can't have them here, but smoking cigarettes is allowed during most of the outdoor time. Bring them with you so you don't have to bum off of others while you wait for family or friends to drop them off. There is also a non-smoking break for those who want to practice mindfulness but avoid the smoke. Food was just okay but soda is available during meals. I felt like a kid again with mealtime and snacks as well as recess (aka smoke breaks). I say this, not in a condescending manner but, rather, in a happy and hopeful way. It was a child-like free spirit feeling that you take away from your time here. Prior to Copper Springs I hadn't smoked or laughed in a long time. I was downright giddy at times here. I can finally find sleep, which had truly been elusive prior to my time here. I'm a veteran so I have to get the VA to refer me to their outpatient services so that I can continue to make positive strides. I am looking forward to chatting with the friends I made here and receiving continued support on an outpatient basis. Will definitely come back if I need my meds adjusted in the future. There were a few issues with other patients and I suggest you let the staff know so that it can be resolved immediately. The staff here wants to know about those things so they can help. However, as a vet, I struggle asking for help. I only wish I had sought it out sooner, but I now know Copper Springs is there to help. One more super duper loud shout out to Michelle!! Do not take a loved one to this place!!! I repeat do not take a loved one to this place!!! They hold your family member for longer periods of time to claim the insurance money. My 18-year-old daughter has been at this facility for more than 2 weeks, since she been there she has been attacked by a man who grabbed her and tried to kiss her and the staff did nothing to him, even though it was the second time he has done this. When I spoke to the nurse Hazel only excuses were made and when I spoke to my child I told her to contact the police and file assault charges against him. Then I heard no more about it. The doctor is keeping my child there on the pretense that she has an eating disorder, which is untrue. in the year and a half that my child has been in counseling and in two different hospitals and there has never been any documentation about and eating disorder. When I ask my daughter if she had an eating disorder, her response was they say I do. I now haven't spoken to her since Monday February 13th. I call and leave messages to have her call me and that I want to know how she is doing, how her day is, and to just let her know I love her, and I don't get any calls back. I believe they are not giving her my messages. I feel that this place is holding my child as hostage and trying to brainwash her into believing what they want her to believe. I know I sound like a lunatic, but really, I'm not. I am a concerned Parent, worried about my child. This place should be SHUT DOWN, they are not helping anyone only lining their pockets. Not happy! Wish it was possible to give zero stars. Copper Springs was referred to me for my daughter who has been having some mental health issues. My daughter has been at Copper Springs for 3 days and she has learned new negative behaviors since she's been there. My household is a Christian based household and there are certain things we don't believe are acceptable. Without getting into all of them, one thing that irks me is smoking. My daughter went outside with a group of people unmonitored and was smoking. My daughter does not smoke, this is an influenced behavior. I spoke to a nurse tonight and she told me that my daughter is an adult and that she can smoke if she wants to. My daughter is a disabled adult who functions like a 7 year old, She cannot take care of herself and will never be able to live on her own. she is a vulnerable adult and should be protected. I am now very uneasy with my daughters stay at this place. Beware if you have children that are vulnerable or impressionable. read more

My daughter, a 45+ old adult has suffer with mental health issues since high school was a patient at Copper Springs East for 2 weeks. When she said she needed help I had very little time to get it for her. I looked on Psychology Today web site and they recommend this location. I thought I have to trust someone as she is new to the area. I drove to the location and found a newer building that appeared to be clean and secure. She was admitted that afternoon and it took a few hours but my instinct said that she would be safe. ......not once did she ask to leave ( which has been her past practice) and she was very pleased with her psychiatrist . She has a plan and is going back as an outpatient. I truly believe that God was leading me to this facility and both my daughter and I are very happy we found it. Thank you Dr. Lee and staff for all your help...now she has to continue to do the work towards healing. read more

This whole process from intake, impatient care, to discharge has been a joke. I was lied to initially when they told me that this place was a 30-day treatment facility and it's not, it's a "stabilization facility". My loved one was in a psychosis and coming off an addictive "run" on pills etc., couldn't even really speak and the intake person said, "it was against the law" for me to go back there which is another law. If the patient doens't want the person to go back then yes, if the intake person feels they can get more honest answers interviewing the patient one on one great IF they come out and also speak with family as well which of course never occured. My loved one doesn't even remember the intake process! This of course led to his week there being counter productive. This place actually put him back on a medication he had already detoxed from! I mean what kind of treamtment center puts patients back on the substances they were abusing? My loved one was not ready to be discharged and needed a 30 day impatient facility, the lady I spoke to since its was his dischrage date told me that since they were a level one facility they couldnt' transfer the patient directly from a level to another level one BUT if I came and picked him Scottsdale Banner which is a 30 day residential facility would take him. So I picked him up (so Copper Springs has now washed their hands which was the intent come to find out) drove him to Scottsdale Banner in Scottsdale to find out they are not a residential treatement facility either. After a full day of driving to multiple locations, the person at the last place I stopped at said you need to take him back to the facility that just discharged him. I was out of options! So in less than 12 hours I took him back, and they told him they were going to charge him another $1900 co pay! (I think that was the exact amount could be off by a $100 or so but the fact remains) We had a family group meeting with a counselor there were we discussed all of these concerns, and she assured us that the transition coordinator would call my mother that day, and that the nurse would call me that day, and much more. That was 4 days ago and still no calls except for today. Today they finally called saying they are discharging my loved one at 1:30 and we can either pick him up or transport him to a homeless shelter. Are you serious!? There is much more that happened and didn't happen. One more instance when he was discharged the first time the doctor sent him home with Rx enough until he sees his doctor out here. They didn't call in two of the Rx that he was on his discharge paperwork, and they didn't give him his blood pressure Rx he was already taking the whole first week he was there. My hope at taking the time to type this is to spare your loved ones and your family from experiencing the nightmare we have gone through. read more

This place is deplorable. My therapist called ahead for an evaluation; Just a second opinion. It turned into them taking my things, lying on the intake paperwork and a weekend stuck in an institution I shouldn't have been in, let alone afford. They told me I couldn't bring my stuff back or coffee, fine. I was under the impression that I'd get it back later. On the paperwork they said I had suicidal intent by cutting my wrists.. I NEVER said that. They manipulated the system. Not only that, but they have no one on call for weekend stays in case you can't afford it (my situation). They need people staffed 7 days a week for such occasions. I was given the run around by literally 10 different people. Once the psychiatrist learned I couldn't afford it, he was on the fast track to getting me out, but said he couldn't until Monday. I don't fault him for it. He can only do so much. Understaffing isn't his fault. Fights broke out over the weekend, people argued and with me as well, bottom line I didn't feel safe and felt this place did more harm than good, both mentally and financially. Not only that, but the therapists threatened that the patients would have to pay for 100% of their stay if they didn't attend. Talk about unprofessional. The only saving graces were the techs Summer and Ashley. They didn't baby me, they were no bs, and they actually took the time to explain things I didn't understand about the facility and helped, what I feel, was to the best that they were able. Without them, I'd have lost my mind in this facility. Please make sure they get recognized for their aptitude here. Already spoke with patient advocacy and I appreciate being heard. I just want to make the public aware to NOT. GO. HERE if you're having mental health struggles. All they care about is money. read more

My son entered Copper Springs for an assessment appointment. My son suffers from severe anxiety, panic disorder, severe depression. He was referred to Copper Springs by his therapist because he was in distress and not responding to treatment. Upon his arrival his cell phone, and all personal belongings were taken from him without explanation. He was then transferred to another waiting room with other patients. The waiting room had no clock and the television was turned off so my son felt very isolated without access to the outside world. He said it felt like a prison. Staff ignored the patients for over 2 hours after which time my son had a full blown anxiety attack and he begged to leave. While he waited another patient badgered him about how all immigrants should be killed. Another patient begged to use the bathroom and was told someone would come take her to the restroom, they never did. My son is now unable to even entertain getting help elsewhere. He has been so traumatized he has withdrawn into himself. His treatment and the treatment of the other patients was inhuman. These people went for help and were abused at their very first appointment. read more

This facility did a great job with my loved one. They are short staffed just like every other place, but they were transparent and the nurses did exactly what they said the would. The Psychiatrist works 7 days a week and really listened to what my daughter was saying. No place is perfect and mental health help is slow going, but I appreciated Copper Springs. read more

Nightmare of an experience. If you're not a regular and it's your first time seeking help in the middle of a crisis, DO NOT go here. Had to wait 5 hours in a freezing cold waiting room. Asked to leave because my anxiety was sky high because of feeling imprisoned. To which they very angrily answered, "No, you signed yourself in, you can't leave." Finally got to the unit. They expect you to know the ropes. They just assume everyone is a repeat. They asked questions like, "didn't you talk to the doctor?" To which I answered, "what doctor?" There was literally no guidance on anything. Therapist? Lunch time? I even had to seek out my medication every time. Also, they didn't have certain medications that I take at home to which they answered, "well, sorry, you just won't be able to take those meds while you're here." If you're in a crisis, plan on this place making it 100 times worse. If you assume you'll be given some guidance, some empathy, some help. Think again. If you're expecting a nice, relaxing, quiet place. Think again. This place is full of people that use these services over and over again. I ended up leaving AMA. read more

My sister was struggling with depression and was advised to seek help at Hospital from her doctor. We brought her here, they took all our possessions and locked them away while we waited for hours. Finally after being ignored for so long we decided to leave to seek help else where. They told us we couldn't go. My sister wrote down that she had thought about hurting her self on the inpatient form and once you do that you basically lose all your rights. They called the cops on us when we tried to leave and forced us out while they took my sister against her will. We are still fighting to get her out and of course all of this is only making things worse. I am literally sick to my stomach knowing that is legal kidnapping and there is nothing you can do. For you or your loved ones own well being please do not go here what ever you do. read more
