I've owned horses for 50 years, did years of self care and a few years boarding, I have NEVER seen such unprofessional behavior from the owners (Dawn). They also recently had 2 horses die on the property!!

While there I'd made several friends and we all can still have an occasional laugh and shake our heads about our experiences with the owners. I just checked to see if those original owners are still running the place and came across the reviews. Amazing the same scenarios are still taking place and I just wanted to validate the comments and feel compelled to make this post to warn others against considering boarding there. Good facilities are scarce on the Front Range and you don't want to be in the position of having to leave suddenly and scramble to find a place for your horse (as many have had to) or have your horse "impounded" for back payment of outrageous add-on fees. (Yes, that happened.). Please take the time to seek out emotionally healthy and ethical folks to entrust your horse and yourself to by asking around and talking to other boarders as can be so hard to know this on first contact with these folks.

We requested the prorated balance of our funds returned, the trainer or stable refused to find an alternative space for the filly. Now the filly is injured and cannot return to the group pen. I've tried to suggest multiple different alternatives, now we are subject to next steps. Our filly was at the stable specifically for training, 2nd day we received a call from Ms. Hug and we are calling the vet for an emergency for colic. It ended up being a hematoma from being kicked by another horse, mind you this filly has never colic in her life. A couple days later Ms. Hug said the filly could not be worked outside pen and the farrier needed to trim her feet inside the group run, meanwhile my inexperienced husband has her outside the pen with the farrier doing her feet without a problem. Present condition on day (4) she has a new hematoma on her other shoulder, her eye is wounded, covered in bite marks, she scalped all the hair on the inside of the back of her leg. At this time I tried to work with Lucas (barn owner) and Ms. Hug to find a new spot. Lucas told me there was no other option, but we were first on the list. Day 10, I meet Lucas (barn owner) in-person, he apologized that the filly had lost so much weight, at this time the filly had lost at least 40 pounds. Lucas told me he was now supplementing her feed with some alfalfa. On this date the filly had opened up her back leg at some point and cut through her flexor tendon, she was also lame on her front shoulder. We took her to the vet again, mind you she's only been there for 10 days. Due to so many injuries in such a short amount of time, it was recommended by our vet we take her home until better accommodations can be made. I messaged both parties, asking again for an alternate stable options, bringing her back at a later time, lessons, haul-in, or working with her at our home. The answer was "no", and since we didn't provide a 30 day notice they won't prorate the services either. I assume by the way we were treated this isn't the first time this has happened with Ariel Hug or Mountain View Stables. It's an overall disheartening situation, and we expected better.

I have over 30 years of experience at boarding barns and have never experienced a more kind or conscientious barn owner. An added bonus is that she does a wonderful job of keeping the community that boards with her drama free! I found Autumn when my incorrigible thoroughbred needed 6 months of stall rest. Edens Aspens took wonderful care of him and then Autumn helped me rehab him from the injury. She also helped me start a young horse of mine. She is patient with both horse and rider, uses pressure and release methods but also takes both horse and rider's emotional state into account in a way that truly deepens the relationship between the two. She is a gifted horsewoman and her insight extends to people as well. I would recommend Edens Aspens to anyone lookin to expand their riding skills (beginner or skilled rider) or for a safe home for their equine!

I have boarded my horses at EAH and been a client of Autumn's for over 5 years, and I can't say…read moreenough positive things about my experience!! After all this time, I still see her ranch as the pinnacle of boarding facilities. She treats the horses as they were meant to be treated, with daily turnout (REAL turnout! not in dry lots, but legitimate pastures!), and the horses get to be in a herd environment where they create friendships and learn boundaries from each other. When they're not in pasture, the horses have continuous access to hay, which is what horses are meant to have to reach ideal health. If anything, my easy keeper mare needs to lose a couple pounds, lol - but she's happy and chunky! The best part? Autumn does an excellent job of keeping her facility positive, peaceful, and devoid of drama. A very difficult achievement when it comes to boarding facilities! As a trainer, Autumn is very in-tune to the horse and handler's needs. She teaches horse owners how to form a relationship with their horse that is built on the foundation of mutual respect and appreciation for one another. The liberty work and obstacles give you fun and challenging goals that often blow the minds of horse and riders during the process. After working with Autumn, you'll find that your horse genuinely seeks their human out for leadership and love, rather than begrudgingly going to work. It is an enjoyable experience for everyone involved! Highly recommended!
