Bartender was truly great ... like bartenders used to be... where he was handling multiple food and drink orders calmly and got everything right. They had Pims, which is hard to find and made me love them even more. We visited a few times during our visit and will be back on every visit... food is pretty good too. Go for the simple burger. Things to note- 1) there's not enough table space for any groups bigger than 5 people so keep that in mind if you're in a larger group. 2) I found the food to be so so. New Orleans does it right and this spot is the perfect example! I ended up coming here twice on my trip because it was that good. The first night was amazing. Service was on point, everything came out hot and super flavorful honestly... I already miss it. I ordered the jambalaya (absolute heaven), the crawfish poppers, and the crab-stuffed mushrooms. I didn't even think I liked crab, but those mushrooms proved me so wrong - they were packed with flavor. And the crawfish poppers? Crispy and dangerously addicting. Easily my fave. My friend went bold and ordered the peanut butter burger, and I'm so glad she did because WOW. I took two bites and immediately wanted to order one for myself. They are not stingy with the meat at all! the patty was thick and juicy and it was loaded with peanut butter. Sounds wild, but it was such a perfect, savory-sweet combo. The second time I came back just for the monkey buns, a little sweet treat I refused to leave without trying. They were definitely flavorful and packed with banana goodness and dusted with powdered sugar. Literal perfection. Only downside: we took it to go, and the bartender kinda forgot about my order for a bit, so that was the only bummer. The inside has a super chill vibe. I really like this bar. It's just the right amount of dive without being overly dirty hole in the wall. Been here on a trip before this one and the burger was so good I knew we'd be back next time. This was next time, and while the service and drinks were good, the burger wasn't the same. A little dry. Bummer. Just a standard, run of the mill dive bar with heavy drinks for cheap. This place is what Bourbon Street should be, cheap and quick fun. There are no frills here, which is good. The interior is nicer than most dive bars and they offer food which is definitely a step up as well. Since you're right off of Bourbon Street this is an excellent place to pregame or even escape from all the partying going on. They also have a cig vending machine if you need a smoke. All in all this is a great dive bar with a lot of versatility in your night out, making it an excellent choice for a stop when out on Bourbon Street. read more

A local bartender recommended this place to us for beignets. We came here for takeout one night after drinking on Bourbon street. My boyfriend got a blackened shrimp poboy and my liquid courage had me ordering something I wouldn't normally order- a peanut butter burger. We also got mozzarella sticks. We failed at getting the beignets. The staff here are so friendly. Especially the doorman. But really they're all great. We appreciated the good customer service and friendly demeanor. Inside is small but typical bar environment. We got our food to go and ate at our hotel. The mozzarella sticks were really good and the marinara was delish!! The peanut butter burger was surprisingly good. My boyfriend liked his shrimp poboy, although it wasn't the best he's had in NOLA. We went back the following day and got more mozzarella sticks and the beignets. The beignets were good. I have nothing to compare them to, but we did enjoy them overall. We also had wings, red beans and rice and Étouffée... I'm not sure how I feel about the food. I mean it was okay, but you could taste that it wasn't fresh ingredients. Think soup in a bag...the whitney was just okay. The potato was powdered mash, and the cheese was abundant and if I had know that was the amount, I would have asked them to go easy on the cheese. The chicken was good though...tender and flavorful. This dish has potential...if I was cooking this at home, I would mash fresh potatoes, used freshly shredded cheese. The wings and fries were good and surprisingly everything was priced decent considering we were in a tourist area. Would I go back, yes, but not for the food. Came in on a Tuesday. My family wanted to explore bourbon street and the dinner bell rang. Found this spot around the corner and popped in. Copper Monkey was right next door to our hotel, so we stopped there quite a bit. We had drinks there like once a day. All the bartenders (there's only 4 total) are so friendly. We had dinner there one night with Aaron as the bartender, I got the BLT wrap, and he got the club wrap. I regret not trying the gumbo, but I needed a break from all the Cajun and Creole on that day. Aaron was a cool guy to talk to. He has been to a ton of baseball stadiums, so we got to chat about that for a while, and the playlist was great. The ceiling is painted really cool. It's just pretty there. The next morning, I really wanted to try their monkey buns, which are beignets with bananas, and they are out of this world. I love the banana sauce so much!!! First of all, I have a biased opinion as I believe that, when in doubt of where to go, go to the adjective-animal bar. Second, this depends on what you are looking for. We were killing time before our night flight, and I wanted a bar with comfy bar seats, sports on the TV, and reasonable prices. This fit the bill. If it is cold that day, sit on the right side of bar (that is where the heater is). V (with complicated full name) was AWESOME as the bartender. Not only did we feel the great service, but everyone who came in also got the same service. She was on her game. We didn't eat the food, but everyone who did looked happy. Jacques was so kind and told us about the bar he works at (enter Copper Monkey Grill), and told us to swing by the next night before we headed back home. We said "ok!" and I'm sure he thought that was the last he'd seen of us but sure enough we rolled through the next day and I'm so happy we did! In a city where food and drinks are great everywhere, Copper Monkey does not disappoint. The peanut butter burger immediately caught my besties attention and she HAD to order. This place was very good and inexpensive. I had a very full meal for only 17 dollars which was the cheapest meal I had in New Orleans. I had a chicken quesadillas and that was the most filled quesadilla I ever had.
