There was no way I was going to leave Rome without trying one of Italy's popular Maritozzo buns…read more Since this spot was close to our hotel, we stopped in here one morning for a quick brekkie before heading over to the Colosseum. It is also across the street from Roma Termini. O...M...G!!! These popular Maritozzo breakfast buns are to die for. It resembles the shape of a football. It's imitating at first. How do I hold and eat it without making a mess? Heck, just open wide and stuff this baby into your mouth. And if it gets all over your pretty lips, just lick it off with your tongue. I'm not one for whipped cream but these are incredibly light, like eating a cloud. The bun is pillowy soft. I didn't feel guilty eating it. It's perfect with a cup of hot coffee. Here, they come in two sizes. It reminds me of those Chinese Coconut Buns but BETTER!!! I'm surprised that I have never seen these buns since we have a huge Italian population in NY/NJ/PA. I have to see if I can find these back home. Busy place for locals who have their coffee standing up at the bar before they go on with their day. Lots of bad reviews about their rude service but we had a very friendly and attentive server.

Only real I don't give 5 stars, well I'll explain later. 1st day we walked up super early and it was bustling with business and workers. We were greeted to sit outside and a waiter came to help us with coffee and food. The service was outstanding and the food was superb! We loved it so much we knew to come 2nd day, grab coffee and breakfast and sandwiches for later as we toured Rome. #greatidea We come again, 3rd day early and everything was perfect--breakfast, coffee, to go sandwiches and the service. We came day 4 a bit later in the day after a big tour event and it was very different. Server didn't want us sitting inside. Server was rude about my younger family member basically falling asleep on the table from the heat and miles of touring. Mind you, she is a little girl and very exhausted from the beauty of Rome touring all day--actually all week in this crazy heat. Anyway, we order drinks, food and that's it. Server seemed to hate us. I won't hold that against the amazing proper who helped us every day the week we were visiting. We really did like this place. Just not that guy I guess. Love the food, the quality and 99% of the service.

A great place to recharge and get a sweet treat after a long day of travels - including charging up the phones:) Pictures don't do it justice! Reminiscent of a coastal coffee/pastry shop in Cinque Terre. Pricing is reasonable, staff is courteous and they play music that could lull you into nap mode! A worthwhile stop one level above the train platforms.

The croissant is incredibly light and fluffy but packed with flavor. I also love how the interior is decorated with lemons to make you feel like you are sitting in a villa. The coffee drinks have thick milk in it which actually tastes pretty light because they froth the coffee like crazy making it taste even better. I normally don't drink coffee with milk but this place has converted me to craving this. Hands down the best coffee I have had in Rome so far. This place is always packed with people which is testament to how good this place is and how much Italians need their coffee in the morning. This area of the train station is incredibly warm and cozy (perfect for the cold January weather when we visited Rome). We honestly could have sat here for hours to people watch and indulge in their various kinds of croissants. Overall the ambiance is very classy and makes you feel like you are sitting in a villa even though it's 30 degrees F. Would recommend if you have a few mi to spare at the terminal.
