Wow, this place was excellent!…read more It is located across from the church and has a Belgian flag out front. The owner is super nice to talk to and very knowledgable about the beers, the food and the area. It is definitely very Belgian and there are many Belgian beers in bottles you can have with food or to buy. The food here was delicious! We only had a snack but it was amazing! We shared the large charcuterie plate between four people. There were three different types of meat, all very fresh and delicious. It also came with bread, cheese, small pickles and the most delicious pate I've ever tried. This place is well worth a stop!

Thirion is a very special place. Though directly across the street from The Church of our Saviour…read moreand within a few blocks of Christiana, the lack of Americanized neon lights, pulsating music, or a gorilla spinning a "great eats here" sign, made it nondescript. I cautiously followed my coworker down the steps into this basement gem and it was lifechanging (maybe a little exaggeration.) Eric specializes in charcuterie and wine. He also must have a side business of converting lapsed vegetarians/sometime vegans into full on carnivores. The combination of his quaint shop with classical music, "try this" samples, great deals on exceptional wine, and probably the best (if not most memorable) sandwich I've ever had, made Thirion one of the high points of my week in Copenhagen. Sheer simplicity with great ingredients-crusty bread, Dijon mustard, arugula, salami, and a cornichon pickle, washed down with some red wine made for quite a memorable afternoon. Make that 2...Liked it so much I made another trip the next day for a repeat performance. Eric is just a nice guy with great knowledge and products who you want to see do well. Highly recommend Thirion.

We absolutely loved this boat tour during our time in Copenhagen. They offer three different tour…read moreoptions depending on how much time you'd like to spend on the water. We chose the two-hour tour, which felt like the perfect balance, not too short and not too long. While it is a bit more expensive than some of the larger boat tours, the experience is much more intimate. With a smaller group, it was easy to ask the captain questions and have meaningful conversations throughout the journey. One of the highlights was a brief stop at a historic military base, where we learned even more about Copenhagen's fascinating history. Along the way, we admired the city's stunning and unique architecture and, of course, made a stop at The Little Mermaid. Our captain, Aske, was one of the best tour guides we've ever had--friendly, entertaining, knowledgeable, and full of great energy. If you're considering a boat tour in Copenhagen, we highly recommend this one. It was an unforgettable experience, and we learned so much about the city. You won't regret it!

The perfect combo of social interactions, enjoying the company and great commentary and guiding. Very comfortable in the boat, we were blessed with a little sunshine so it was perfect. Drinks available to buy if wished and water readily on hand. There was a couple on board who were less interested in the social element but the Texan lady also on the boat was a delight to be with too. Our captain managed the dynamics very well. Easy to book, great comms beforehand and a warm welcome. Highly recommend this great boat ride which gives a wonderful perspective on this lovely city. Great value for money. Thank you HeyCaptain team.

The Canal Tours trip was better. But they ARE different and both are included on the Copenhagen…read moreCard! I had a full week in Copenhagen. The city is full of canals. I like being on the water. Put me on a boat so I can explore the city while also sitting for an hour or so and I am happy gal. So on my next-to-last day in the city, needing to kill a little time before a museum opened up, and wanting to rest my feet for a spell...I hopped on a Netto boat tour. Also...because I had already done the other boat tour included with the Copenhagen Card. The boats are a little dingier and dirtier than some other tour companies. And they pack the boats full. You may not have much personal space on a busy day. But you get a full circle tour of the city from the water and you get to be on a boat for an hour. So...*shrug* So I stand by the Canal Tours being much better. But I think as long as you get to do a boat tour during your time in town, any one will do.

"Look ma, I'm on a boat!"…read more No, it's not that kinda boat, but it serves its purpose and floating along Copenhagen's canals on a clear, crisp day is really romantic. SIGH. It's so romantic, we decided to kiss every time the boat goes under the bridge. And people! there are MANY bridges on this tour, over 20 in fact, but who's counting? If you're not a romantic, the practical purpose of this tour is to catch your bearings. Whenever I'm somewhere new, I always opt for the best mode of transportation to see the city. And here, it's best seen on the water. You'll pass the famous Little Mermaid, the impressive Opera House, the upscale Christianshavn neighborhood, Vor Freslers Kirke, etc. The tour lasts about 60 minutes and costs 60 Dkk (that's only $10!) and it's the best tour given in Danish and English. Don't go to the DFS company, they charge twice as much for the same exact tour.
