My boyfriend and I came here as the last effort to find a postcard to bring home from our visit to upstate New York. Once we were in the store I almost forgot about the postcard because of all the great local produce they had. I snagged some peaches and apples and they were delicious and fresh. They have a ton of great options here including a lot of local options. If you're looking to make a charcuterie plate or have some snacks for guests this is a great place to visit. The staff is great and they were super helpful and they ended up having the perfect little postcard with a great drawing of the general store itself on it! It has taken me a long time to write this as I am a local and I support local businesses, but, After many years of going to the general store and not being acknowledged, I just had to speak up. Every time I go into the store, NO ONE greets you or even smiles. With the exception of a very sweet girl Natalie who worked there years ago, the service is embarrassing. Every time I go there, I say to myself, this is the last time. I spent many years working in retail and I know that friendly service is so important, especially when you are the only grocer in a small town and are charging the high prices they charge. What ever happened to small town hospitality? You won't find it here. The other day I went in to see if they had a certain bread a friend had requested because they don't like to go to this store for the same reasons as I. There were no other customers in the store. The sales girl was sitting on a chair behind the counter and the owner was talking to her while on her phone. They knew I had entered and could see me as I was near them. They did not look up, they did not say hello or say can I help you. I walked out and it was as if I was a ghost. I know the simple things one can do to make a place welcoming, a simple hello, a smile. This time I will NEVER go back. I don't support rudeness. read more

Ignore any reviews pre-2017, this place was re-launched!!! Copake? Bougie, gourmet grocery? Those things do not seem to go together - and I'm glad that they do! I need to be in Copake often, and the Copake General Store is a GODSEND! Delicious coffee (Irving Farms), fresh scones and muffins (best blueberry muffin ever), hot food (took home two pot pies for dinner the other night...should have taken home four), and sandwiches to order. In addition to all that wonderousness there are plenty of higher end supplies for your grocery needs. Everything is made fresh, so there may be moments when your arrival does not coincide with availability. The staff is super friendly, and welcoming. A real gem to the community! read more

Over priced groceries and produce. The owner is extremely ANGRY, unfriendly and rude. Went twice, both times had a negative experience. I'll drive the extra 10 minutes to Random Harvest where their store and employees are much nicer in all aspects. I hesitate to leave bad reviews for small businesses but this one is so deserved on so many levels. read more

The food is so good you might move to Copake after eating it. I am big on the creamy clam chowder, the banh mi sandwich, the butter nut squash soup and the chicken pot pies. There is a lot more, give them a try. read more

Do not confuse this with the previous review. This chic updated classic stylish general store recently re-opened under new ownership. Great high quality products and lots of local provisions. Organic meats, fresh produce, homemade baked goods and foods, delicious coffee in a beautifully renovated historic location in the town of Copake. Can't say enough good things about this great local grocery. Found everything we needed to make a delicious meal having arrived without much preparation or planning. Came back the next day for a delicious lunch. Loved chatting with everyone at the big communal table. Staff are friendly too! read more

They have pretty much anything you'll need in terms of food for your hiking or camping (even charcoal and fire wood bundles). Prices are reasonable. Just make sure you use cash as I suspect I got my card information jacked from their plug-in card reader. read more

Lousy grocery selection, all meat is local but frozen. I mean really frozen. Got a steak which when defrosted was inedible. Expensive. Better selection across the street at Sunoco. Veggies look like they have been sitting there for a week. Fresh made sandwiches are good. Salads ok, but again, too expensive. Cash register is an IPad which is really upsetting.. Worried about that Got my credit card copied, not blaming them but not going to be a victim anymore. Pay cash, don't use a credit card. So yourself a favor and go the IGA in Hillsdale. read more

We live in the Copake area and have found the Front Porch to be a great place to go for coffee, lunch and to pick up grocery items. There is a nice country feel to the place. People are friendly, service is good. I definitely recommend the sandwiches and paninis - especially the Iron Works! read more

Such a wonderful sweet place to find in the middle of the rural Hudson Valley. It's super rare to find such an excellent selection of local products including cheese, meat, milk, etc. Lots of affordable basics too.
