The Cooperstown Distillery was such an amazing time and experience! My husband and I went to their distillery tour which only happens on Saturdays at 2PM. It last about an hour, they take you back into the distillery to the mechanicals, warehouse and even where they age the barrels of liquor. the tour guide provided so much details of the distilling process, answered everyone's questions and even gave us tastes and feels of the liquor through the various steps of the distilling process. You could tell that they not only take pride on their spirits, but that they actually love their jobs! It was incredible and I have never had such a good and educational time doing a distillery tour and I cannot recommend this enough. After the tour, you go into the main bar area and you get to try literally every single spirit they make and the tour guide even stood there and answered all of our questions. Because of this tasting I found a new love for gin, specifically their Fenimore gin which doesn't taste like the normal floral gin. I bought it at the end of the tour. I cannot recommend this distillery and tour enough. You will be sure to be mind blown at just truly hospitable they are and how much they want you to enjoy and learn the process of distilling spirits as well. Make sure to visit when you're in Cooperstown!

A must stop and see when visiting Cooperstown. Sports have won lots of awards and there are some great and unique gift items. Great chance to taste test the different spirits and tour the facility. Most sports are cheaper at local liquor stores and at the actual distillery or their location in town.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but there are a whole lotta goodies inside.

Before visiting Cooperstown Distillery, I had no idea that the distillery had received a bunch of awards for its spirits. Since Cooperstown is the birthplace of baseball, one can definitely observe the mingling of spirits and baseball. For example, a couple of the liquor bottles are baseball-shaped. The guy behind the bar (unfortunately, whose name, I've forgotten) was pretty knowledgable about everything relating the sports. You could tell that he was really into and involved with the process of making spirits from start to finish. He was pretty generous with the tasting offerings and answered pretty much all of my questions. One small thing. I wish they had a couple of folks working at the bar to field (no pun) questions on the day of our visit. I did have a few more questions about some of the products, but I did not want to "hog" the man working because there were other folks waiting to be helped. *I guess that I can always get more information about the distillery's offerings online.* I did take home a bottle of Glimmerglass Vodka, which is distilled SIX times, and Fenimore Gin.

Excellent local distillery in the Catskill Mountains of upstate NY…read more My girlfriend and I visited on a Saturday afternoon in May after hiking for a few hours. Business was slow so the woman serving drinks offered us a free tasting of their four main liquors: vodka, gin, maple spirit, and rye whiskey. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to give us detailed descriptions of each one. I'm no liquor expert but the gin and maple spirit were both delicious. We bought a bottle of each and can't wait to tuck into them later. We stayed for a few cocktails as well and really enjoyed their pleasant tasting room. If liquor isn't your thing, they also offer a few local wines and beers. Highly recommend checking this place out when you're in the area!

They offered free tours AND tastings, created seasonal cocktails, and even possessed a full event calendar. Their tasting included the Vly Creek Vodka, Drie Brook Rye Whiskey, FirGIN, and the Catskill Mountain Maple Spirit. The vodka was uniquely composed from wheat and apples, giving it a hint of sweetness and making it smooth enough to drink straight. The rye was excellent and not overly harsh, and the gin was packed with various herbs. The maple beverage was 80 proof and resembled a sweet rum or bourbon. I was not the hugest fan of the gin, but the others were all terrific! Also, the woman that hosted our experience was a complete sweetheart! There was a bar where you could order cocktails that included their products and a lounge in which to enjoy them. I opted for a seasonal blend of vodka, lemonade, and watermelon that was freshly-pressed by the owner. It was strong, but also tart and refreshing. The Union Grove Distillery provided a highly engaging and informative tasting, as well as a comfortable environment in which to enjoy their crafted liquors.

When we arrived back at our daughter's home, our son-in-law asked how it was. Her response was, "It was great." That sums it up well. There's a variety of mixed drinks using their on-premises gin and vodka as well as a small assortment of local wine. A sign says that you must order food to purchase drinks. Fine with us. The food choices at this time are snacky: chips and guac, brie bites, chips and salsa, nachos, etc. Everything but the brie in pastry cups was gluten free. The building is very nice and the family owners are as friendly as can be. I also visited a couple days ago and bought a bottle of gin. It's different from my normal preference but since they offer a small taste, it's easy to tell if you'll like it before purchasing. Finally, I like that they bring a chip/contactless credit card machine to you. It's similar to units that are common in Europe. I like that so much better than handing over my card. Receipts can be printed or emailed. It's very slick tech and very secure. I like supporting small, local, family operated businesses and this is a good one. It would have been 5 stars with a more extensive menu.

To me, there's something special about a visit to Yankee Distillers. There's a sense of "We know…read morewhat we want to do, and we're gonna do it!" here that I haven't gotten from many other distilleries. Being off the beaten path, it's not someplace that will get a lot of casual drive by's - they get the people who want to come here. I wasn't sure what would be of interest to me here. After the tastings, I was very pleasantly surprised to find it would be their vodka! I'm not normally a vodka person, but there is a very short list of distilleries that make a vodka I can actually sip, and I just added their Eleven Lakes Vodka to that list, most likely right at the top. Finishing a very close second was their Rye. By the way, the ingredients for these come 100% from New York State. And with so many distilleries in NY shortening their aging, I appreciated that all their whiskies age a minimum of 6.5 years. The people here definitely love their craft and appreciate conversation with folk who have an understanding of distilling. If, of course, you can make it past the very effective guard dogs, Basil and Barley - though it's not so much they're protecting the place, just making sure they get their much deserved attention from you before, during, and after, your drinks. There's almost always something new going on here; when we arrived today's list had just been freshly laminated. Visit often.

This review will be short and sweet…read more The Yankee Distillery is making their own booze on site and serving it at a simple bar as soon as you walk in. They are going the extra mile by making authentic mixers made with real ingredients. Take one look at the container of bloody mary mix on the bar and you will see what I mean. I ordered the Manhattan and it was fabulous. Every sip was perfection. The owner is a very warm and happy fella who clearly loves his business. The other draw at Yankee is the team of pugs that meet you on arrival. They look like loaves of bread with smooshy faces connected. One will sit on your lap with out any coaxing! This is a happy place serving happy things. The bottles of booze are a bit pricey but the drinks are reasonable. Definitely get out and enjoy one soon!
