Service was horrible. Specifically, we ordered three drinks. While two drinks were decent the watermelon drink was overly syrupy and when we asked them to fix it, we were denied. The manager told us that if we had them remake the drink then they would charge us for it. I don't think I've ever been to a bar where they stood by such a poor drink and sacrificed the benefit of having additional drinks ordered and food ordered. Poor management and service. First off look to the more recent reviews. The place has been remodeled in the last 5 or 6 years. Any time a restuarant is part of a hotel, it usually reflects the hotel. It's a nice spot to hang and watch sports, have a brew or mixed drink. The food is average and the service is hit or miss. I've been to banquets and meals and it's conistent. Exactly what I expect. Had a pizza most recently and it was good. Here's the thing, if you want food, and you are there already, great. Just as if you were at a hotel and the only food option nearby was the hotel. However, there are so many great choices within less than a mile. It's certainly a matter of convenience, more than anything else. read more

Had an amazing time on Friday evening for karaoke. Sat up front and got there a bit before the crowd showed up and was able to have a table next to the DJ. Our server was great with the recommendations for drinks and Wong flavors. Karaoke was amazing, we all had a great time and it was a great vibe with no drama. After leaving Spare Time, my friend and I decided to stop here. It was around 11:10pm on a Sunday evening. It wasn't busy at all. We sat ourselves. There were a couple open booths but they were dirty, whether that be the table or the ground underneath. We ended up sitting at a table. Our waitress was Myha, who actually introduced herself! Omg. Kudos to her!! This isn't something I've experienced in a while at a restaurant! We needed time and ordered drinks around 11:15pm. We each got a Jamaican shaker, which was tasty. At 11:28pm, we ordered Wilding Out Chicken as an app. It was a good sweet/spicy mix. I don't like spicy foods, but this was tolerable. Service this visit was very timely and Myha gave good customer service. Coopers close at midnight. Before we knew it, time had flew by and were the only ones there around 12:20amish. We became more aware of the time when we noticed a song playing on the juke box. It was essentially a closing song. We got the message and left lol. The bill had already been paid. read more

So late night in Greensboro this is the place to be for good music and good snacks. Drinks are OK (the bartender didn't make our drinks correctly). The bar service was not so great. But the waitress that helped us when we were ready to order food was great! Because of her this place gets 4 stars for me. They have pool tables & you can do karaoke (at least when we went. It was a Friday night) they also had a great DJ. Security is in front so please don't act a fool. There's also a nice outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice. We ordered Spinach dip and crab dip. Both were really really good! The spinach dip had a little kick to it so beware. The crab dip was my fave out of the two. Creamy and delicious. Especially the pita bread that came with it! MUST HAVE! I'll be back again on another drunken night in Greensboro lol. read more

It is a bar/grill, they have TVs around for sports watching, a private area for cigar smoking and what seems to be a dance floor and karaoke. BUT, for it to be a small place there were 5 very well built security guards, scanning everyone coming in, made me wonder, but I enjoyed myself, my meal, loved the company of my co-workers, then left. read more

While in town for the Nationals Track and Field Championships, we were denied entry due to the players being under 21. All of the youth players were with parents and chaperones. The establishment is connected with a Hotel. I strongly recommend not patronizing them. We met one of parents there on Saturday for lunch. Without the players, the food d was okay. I ordered the Philly steak and cheese sandwich, fries were delicious, but the sandwich lacked the meat. Cobb salad was good and the nachos were good. read more

Had lunch at Cooper's Ale House in Greensboro. Won't be back. They brought me the wrong wrap, I said please take it off my bill, I don't want it. She brought me out the right one and said she couldn't let me not have lunch and brought me the right one. Well that's apparently because they didn't want to take it off my bill. Then looking at my itemized receipt they charged me a gratuity for 2 people automatically! The service didn't warrant the gratuity they decided upon. If someone says remove it from my bill, I don't want it. And YOU as the establishment decide to make the right one and bring it out- that's on you. Don't charge the customer for it. Horrible, horrible experience. Won't return and I hope this helps others who are debating on visiting this establishment. Just don't. Save your money. read more

Me and my friend (party of two each paying separately) were charged 18% auto gratuity despite it not being after 5 and despite not being a part of 5 or more. I was in Greensboro for business recently and this bar was conveniently connected to my hotel. Typical bar food menu with various wings and fried food selections. I went with a salad, Chicken Philly and onion rings. All were decent, though the chicken could have used some seasoning. My server was personable and efficient and everything arrived quickly. We arrived at Cooper's Ale House around 7:45 on a Saturday night. We were greeted by two armed security guards at the front carding everyone before you could even enter the establishment. I'm not too familiar with this part of town but it seemed necessary. We were able to be seated immediately and out our drink orders in which came out relatively quickly. We placed our food orders and began to wait. It took about an hour for all of our food to come out on a night where the restaurant was not crowded at all. My water glass stayed empty once the food finally did arrive until we left. I ordered traditional bone in chicken wings, half with Thai Chili sauce and half with Mesquite seasoning on them. Some of of the wings were large and a great size while others were very small. Both the seasoning and the sauce tasted great and the wings were still crispy even with the wet sauce on them. I also ordered a side of onion rings that came with some sort of zesty sauce that were also delicious but kind of cold once they finally arrived. At about 9pm the juke box cut off and a DJ on the other side of the restaurant started playing music. We had no idea this was scheduled to happen, and I wouldn't have minded it at all except for the fact that it was so loud I couldn't hear anyone that I was with unless they were practically yelling. Here's what ruined the experience for me. I didn't notice this, but someone in my group with a keen eye noticed I'm very small writing on the menu that it says on Fridays and Saturdays am 18% gratuity is added to all checks no matter the party size. I thought that was strange as I've seen automatic tips added when you have a large group, but not automatically on the weekends. And I wasn't complaining because I always tip a minimum of 20% and frequently more than 20% depending on the service. When we got our checks it was not an itemized receipt. It had the bare minimum amount of information like the date and time, server name, and then just the total amount due and the tip line. It said nothing about the automatic 18% tip on the bill and I did the math based off what we had ordered and sure enough the extra tip was already included in the total. The issue I have with this is if you don't see the area where it states they add a tip automatically on these nights and do your usual 20% tip on the check then you're giving almost a 40% tip on your check. It just seemed shady and pretty dishonest like they're trying to squeeze a little bit of an extra tip out of you. Not to mention I didn't look at the bar menu so I don't know if it was stated there or not. It would be especially difficult to figure this out if you're drinking and most people inside the place that night seemed to be at the bar. Overall food was good, just the experience in general put me off. I might come back if I'm in the area. Definitely not if it's a weekend though read more

Hadn't been to Coopers since before the virus took over and I wanted to stop in and show some love. Super glad I did as they were doing their standard Karaoke night. They had security at the door, checking people as they entered and you had to wait to be seated by the hostess. The DJ running it, did not disappoint and kept the crowd going with all genres of music/past and present tunes. My only thing I was displeased with was that they didn't do social distancing. This is slowly becoming my go to spot. I decided to try the portobello mushroom chicken and is it delicious. The chicken is always perfectly charred on the outside and tender on the inside. The roasted veggies are always great with the chicken. I have not had fish and chips in a very long time and I really wanted to indulge in some. I was very impressed, the breading is absolutely delicious and so is the fish! I have had errors made on my order in the past, but they were quick to rectify the situation. So we eat here on occasion and absolutely love the food but it's hit and miss with the service. My wife and I had a date here a couple weeks a go and everything was wonderful. The young lady that waited on us was great. She checked on us several times, constantly making sure everything was good, food was wonderful and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, our visit today was not the same. We chose to eat here because we knew the new menu had come out and we were excited to see what had returned and what was new. There was four of us this time and as we walked in and sat down a young man came over and said I'll be right back with you. Well, he came out of the back several times but after 20 minutes of waiting and never having him return with even the menu we got up and left. There was three ladies at another table complaining about the same thing. Typically it's no big deal if we have to wait and it's understood when a place is busy but there was only people including us at three tables and two at the bar. It's unacceptable.
