I'm honestly shocked that Cooking with Love/Taylor is listed as a top-rated business on Yelp. That's how I found her and I truly expected something elevated and professional. That turned out not to be true. I am not writing this review to be mean, but I do want future retreat hosts like myself to not be misled by the otherwise glowing reviews (as I was). I was excited to hire a plant-based chef for an emotionally charged retreat. We were a small, intimate group of seven, many of us mothers or grieving or simply managing a lot in our everyday lives. I wanted the food to feel healing and supportive. While most of the dishes she made were very good, the overall experience was tense, uncomfortable and absolutely not worth it. From the moment she arrived, the tone was off. She walked straight into the house ignoring multiple signs and a clear area full of shoes. This was a luxurious home with beautiful carpets and she mumbled something about "safety" and "not stabbing herself in the foot" before just walking straight through. I decided to just let her to her thing because she looked flustered, but she immediately showed how little respect she had for the environment. The guests were arriving at the same time and she said something about it being chaotic. Again, everyone is just arriving. I am setting a tone for the retreat and the Chef's energy should contribute to that. She made a big point of saying I should "just tell her whatever I needed." When I did, asking her to please set out plates and water glasses with meals, it somehow turned into a long, awkward text exchange and in person conversation about her not offering housekeeping service. It was such a simple, reasonable request and we are talking 6 people. The whole point of bringing in a chef was to make them feel special and cared for. Eventually, she did do it and it really wasn't that big of a deal - I'm not sure why the tension and extra stress was required. There were countless moments like that. She lectured me about "retreat leaders buying too much food," and insisted several times that I didn't need to purchase anything. She then showed up with barely enough supplies. Only three small boxes of sparkling water (gone by day two), no orange juice because "they don't need orange juice," and a general attitude of resistance whenever asked for something. I am so glad I ignored her here because I would have been screwed without the additional groceries I shopped. I really wish i could tell you where the money went but that's not something a retreat leader wants to be thinking about. EVER. We had planned the menu ahead of time, but she decided on her own to "pivot" from the agreed-upon eggs and potatoes to frozen bagel sandwiches (which took forever to heat and left breakfast and subsequently our schedule, late). Several guests told me afterward how little they enjoyed that meal. She will likely blame the oven but the food was rock solid when it went in. Worse still, I later learned from retreat participants that one guest was repeatedly asked to scrape her own plate and another guest was misgendered multiple times during their stay. For someone offering services in a healing, inclusive environment, that level of insensitivity is shocking and unacceptable. She mentioned that people really love her singing bowl blessing. I really wanted the first meal and the last meal to feel celebratory so I opted for that before dessert. Before going into playing, she gave a tone deaf speech about digestion. It was awkward at best. I opted for no singing bowl on the last night. To top it all off, when setting the table (on the very first night aka celebratory night), she used paper napkins. Now here we are at a gorgeous luxury property with every possible beautiful table item at our disposal. I quickly replaced them with cloth napkins. At a retreat meant to be healing and gentle, her energy was the exact opposite. It was easier to just ignore her and quietly take care of things myself, especially given how difficult her personality was. By the end, I was simply trying to get through it. For a retreat environment, or any setting that requires grace and sensitivity, I cannot recommend her. Great food means nothing when it's served with bad energy. read more

Awful experience. I totally understand the negative review left by the retreat host. Taylor was not mature. I honestly regret hiring her she caused me so much stress towards the end of our interactions. In the end, not considerate, professional or kind. Her food is good, but the lack of consideration that happened in the end, made it not worth it. I do not feel she would be mature enough to handle being the lead chef at a retreat or wedding or anything of that nature, unless she has gone through some real growth in this area, but reading the other review it seems perhaps not. When you are in the service industry you are there to serve graciously and keep to agreements. Bringing a positive attitude and energy, being respectful, kind and considerate are paramount. Especially when you are being payed very well. In response to Taylor's reply: I am a real person and this is a legitimate review. The service provided was over five years ago, but is still my experience and honest review. I don't have time to come on this app to write a bunch of amazing reviews. There have been a select few, exceptionally bad instances that warrant a review to help spare others what I experienced. read more

I had the pleasure of having Taylor making me dinners with friends. Everything was spectacular! Taylor is super sweet and in detail. Everything is organic and try to be as local as possible. The dal is my favorite- I can seriously eat the whole pot hahahaha She also have the MOST delicious Chai you would ever taste in your life. She roasted herself . Chef Taylor (affectionately called "Coach" by us all on Retreat) was amazing! She not only made the most delicious and nutritious plant based food for our Retreat group of 8, but she was such a integral addition to the entire group. From start to finish she made sure we had all we needed for our retreat. She brought snacks, continually tidy'd our kitchen, and cleaned up all meals so we could focus on our guests... She was professional, respectful, discrete, and her energy paired with our group so cohesively. She shared a short blessing before our first meal where she played a singing bowl and shared the intensions behind the food. It set a peaceful and appreciative tone for all our mealtimes during our Retreat. Meals became our favorite moments! She was truly spectacular, she even recommended a BEAUTIFUL local hike. The only "con" I can think of is that we can't take her to ALL our travel retreats all over the world! Guest favorites: We all FELL IN LOVE with her "snickers", (chocolate dipped dates), Southwest tostadas, Soba Noodles (she made to-go style for us to enjoy out on the land during a hike!), and the Avo Toast. We also went GAGA over her Berry bowl on our last day. We LOVED the tasty flavors of the spaghetti squash dish and she specially prepared an Italian soup for our last Retreat meal, and it not only nourished our bellies, but our souls! Chef treated our group of 7 to a amazing 3 course dinner. I don't like vegan food. I am a meat eater ! But the group loved the food. It was a last min booking but chef was able to serve our group after our other chef canceled last min. Thank you chef! If I could eat food like this everyday I would definitely go vegan. I'll start by saying that I never used Taylor as a chef. But, I called her and we spoke on the phone and she clearly quoted me one price then jumped up the price on her email. She specifically said it would be 50 dollars per head, either for dinner or cooking class. I had 8 guests. So that would be 400. Then, I get an email saying her minimum is 600. I brought it to her attention and asked if her price suddenly changed, her response: "yes, that is correct." Very unprofessional if you ask me. Such a bummer because she had nice reviews regarding her food. On the phone she want very professional, and her email was all over the place. I would advise to be more professional and consistent. read more

Taylor is an incredible chef! I went on a wellness retreat in beautiful Sedona and had the pleasure of being nourished by the vegan cuisine of Taylor...let me tell you it's life changing! Taylor's vegan meals have inspired me! I'm not going to lie I was ignorant and thought vegetarian/vegan food was tasteless boring and uber expensive...after Sedona I admit I was 100% wrong! I have never ate better which led to better sleep feeling more energized nourished satisfied and just better internally/externally! It's just clean eating with simple ingredients that don't cost that much more ...amazing I am really inspired and love how these meals not only made me feel better but brought to light more mindful eating, really taking time to enjoy the food,seeing where it comes from, and the prep work and love that Taylor put into these dishes! I've been doing this more at home now and I have to say I am really loving this feeling! It's simple and satisfying and yummy! It's so funny too because I was that girl obsessed with cheese and chocolate milk so when I got home from my retreat I got a veggie taco salad and completely SPACED about the dairy cheese that came with it and felt so weird afterwards like I was so used to Taylor's meals (vegan cheese) I didn't feel like I was going without anything...so when I got the salad my mind was still on Taylor mode ( she did all the work and even served and cleaned up, how amazing is she!) and I ate it and instantly was like wait a minute...lol I didn't realize how much dairy doesn't satisfy or agree with me until I didn't eat it for a week lol My retreat would not be the same if Taylor was not there. Taylor is awsome!! she's been bringing her homemade cookies and granola into our store for almost a year now people love them, and we enjoy being able to offer some of our customers some homemade vegan options (which may I say are super good- people really appreciate it. Taylor is friendly and so easy to work with so glad we have her here helping us with our smoothie menu and offering her baked cookies for sale. Chef Taylor was an absolute STAR to work with; we hosted a 7-person bachelorette party in Sedona and had Chef Taylor come out to our Airbnb on our first night as a surprise for the bride. Not only was Chef Taylor a delight to communicate with leading up to the dinner, but she was full of love and passion. Her vegan meal was PHENOMENAL, and we were overly impressed with the personal touches she added to the experience. She also provided us with a TON of local recs, and we even went to visit her at Sacred Elements the next day to buy some crystals! What a huge upgrade to our time in Sedona. We were fortunate enough to stay in a place that had a great kitchen and space to enjoy a home cooked vegan meal. I was with friends who were in the mood for healthful conscientious food but who were not vegan. I found Chef Taylor and she was available to make us dinner in our place. She produced and served a meal that was so incredibly tasty-home cooked flavor with high quality produce. She made a Mexican style dish with tofu meat crumbles and the most amazing guacamole ever. My non vegan friends totally enjoyed their meal and especially the experience of being served in our comfortable surroundings. If Chef Taylor is available to cook for your gathering while you are visiting, I would highly recommend making her part of your itinerary. read more

We were so lucky to happen upon Taylor while searching for a health-conscious chef for our yoga retreat in Sedona. Honestly, I found Taylor here on Yelp and am so fortunate that she was able to accommodate our group of 11. Taylor is the epitome of a caring and hardworking chef. She took time with us to build a menu for 5 days of breakfasts and dinners. Some of our participants had strict dietary challenges that Taylor happily worked around. Her meals (all vegan) were delicious and filling. Her desserts were super yummy (make sure to request the chocolate-covered strawberries, and have her make the coconut whipping cream)! She was punctual, always arriving early enough to get her meals prepared, and understanding when we arrived late to consume the meals. She cleaned up after the meals, leaving us to enjoy our retreat.
