Cookout has never let me down. Great shakes great food and is cost effective. Service is average fast food but who cares it's cookout

It's cheap and it's fast. Not so much "good", but apparently that's not the point. The regular sized burger is more of a slider. The cheddar cheese is the liquid sauce squeezed onto dogs; not burger friendly. You'll have to work to get full. I don't recommend, since I prefer taste over convenience. read more

Service was absolutely terrible, the girl who took our order talked to us like we where toddlers, was very snippy with us. We could hear one employee screaming about us ordering to the point another young man had to tell him to shut up, you could hear the screaming with the window closed. I usually love cook out. However, I would not recommend this location. I was visited home and haven't had cook out in a couple of months and was craving it. I was soon very disappointed. I ordered a burger plain with cheese and a corn dog. We were also the only people in line and it took a while to get our food. I was very understanding because I realize staff can't control how long something takes to cook. However when I got to the window it was apparent that they were playing around. They were also joking about illegal immigrants which is very inappropriate given the window is open. When I got home I realized that my burger had everything on it and no cheese and they gave me Cole slaw instead of a corn dog. I was highly disappointed. I would recommend going to cook out however I would skip this location. read more

Horrible!!! Went to drive-thru window at 6:50pm on a Sunday. The speaker was incredibly loud and garbled and the employee was hard to understand. Told him I was going to drive up to the window and he ignores me!! I had to ask him twice if he would take my order..he stares at me. I drove around to the parking lot and go inside. It's worse!! Trash flowing out of the trashcans, trash on the floor. Took pictures as proof. Went to counter to order and employee was rude! Placed order and she hands it to us..no thank you or any pleasantry. First impression, place was dirty and there was food all over the floor in the prep area. Customer service was non existent. We ordered a BBQ plate, Burger, Cookout dog, and some cheese fries, took 30 mins to get our order. Burger was delicious but everything else, HARD PASS. I went to the cookout on Indian River in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I believe the store number is 190. I ordered the barbecue plate and when I got home, I started eating, opened the container of one bite and noticed a roach crawling out of the container, a little baby actually crawled out of the container of coleslaw. Took forever to even get someone to come to the counter to take our order. The guy didn't say a single word. He just stood in front of the cash register and that's it. No greeting, no reading our order back, didn't tell the total, nothing. We waited almost 30 minutes for our food. Meanwhile we saw car after car after car go thru the drive thru getting their food and there were only 3 of us. When we finally got our food, 2 out of 3 orders were incorrect. They are not known for large portions, but only 3 onion rings? Really? And the amount of onion in the burger was more than the meat. We had been to this location before and someone was parked sideways in the 2 handicapped spots. We thought it was a one off situation but this time was the same thing. Everytime i've gone to this cookout there was something wrong (i went between 10pm-12am each time). One time i was missing half of my order, another time my quesadillas were cold and a third time my burger was almost all onions! Not to mention the staff are just rude most of the time and can't hear you half the time over the speaker.Definitely go to a different cookout during late night hours. read more

So this rating is for the accumulation of four people at lunch. Obviously, the opinions vary. The advertisement was for milkshakes and they had a huge variety of them including a watermelon shake. Now who has heard of that? Between us we had a mixture of shakes -- banana, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Most LOVED them. I thought they should have been served as a bowl of ice cream due to the thickness. You couldn't drink them -- too thick. Hamburgers were very good, fried okra was good as was the corn dog. We have been getting the BBQ plate from cook out for years. The food portions are getting smaller and smaller and the prices go up every year. BBQ quality is getting pretty poor. We bought 2 plates yesterday. Only 5 bites of BBQ in it, a little bit of coleslaw and 6 hushpuppies for $6.00. Won't be going back! read more

MISS ALICIA, took my order through the drive thru and was so RUDE. i come here all the time and spend hella money at cook out weekly and this lady had me repeat my order multiple times and had an attitude when i told her what i wanted on my burger and what i didnt. nasty ass attitude... when i pulled my car to the window to pay i overheard her shit talk about my "order being to FUC**NG WORDY"?! she must've not realized i pulled up to the window so quickly because she looked hella surprised at the expression on my face after her little shit talk sesh! she proceeds to sling my bag of food out the window, class act. i ask for ketchup and BBQ and she hands me ketchup packets that end up on the floor since she was in such a rush. Oh man... Usually I love cookout to death. Going to eat there is something I look forward to very much. It's one of those rare food places I just am HAPPY to eat at. It's very filling and tasty fast food for cheap prices. However, my most recent visit with my girlfriend left us both very disappointed. You can look at the pictures I took - In the first picture we have my Cajun fries ruined with WAY too much seasoning. There was actually so much seasoning in my tray that it got on all my other food, spilled out of my try, and also got on to my girlfriend's food which was in a DIFFERENT tray but inside the same bag. So the fries were ruined and the rest of the food in the bag was made worse by this "mistake." And most of the other food was obviously rushed and undercooked anyway. It almost feels like it was done out of spite towards me and my girlfriend because if you take a look at my cheerwine float in picture number two, you can see the beverage looks like clumpy dishwater... It tasted like that too. So disappointing, I couldn't even finish it. Again, usually Cookout is great, like a 4 or 5 star visit. But this was just awful. All of the food was BAD, so bad it actually felt like this was done on purpose by a resentful employee. Because I love you most of the time Cookout, I wanted to bring this horrendous and out of character occurrence to your attention to maybe make sure this never happens again to anyone. I love coming here for burgers and fries. I get the Cherrwine for my drink Everytime. Call me stuck in the past but I just think it's nice to get it for nostalgic purposes. I mostly go through the drive-through, I have been inside though. I'll write an update next time I eat in. The shakes are good too. When I get a tray I sometimes may upgrade my drink (for a $1). I received 3 chicken strips when it was supposed to be a big double cheeseburger and 2 chicken quesadillas. Someone else lucked out and got more food than they paid for. This cookout is like many other cookouts I've visited. They're always rushing you through to the order, Always has you re-repeat What items you want on your burger (no matter how slow you talk), And really lax customer service in the drive-through. Then when you come up to the window to pay they rarely greet you and just give you a total amount that you owe, they take your card, they give you a receipt, and literally throw your food out the window at you . The fries are good. That's about the extent of my positive feelings after finally having my first Cook Out experience in the 757. It was a little after 6PM on a Wednesday evening and my wife and I were leaving the neighboring Walgreens drive through and thought we'd pick up some burgers to take home. Not being familiar with Cook Out we opted to order inside instead of the drive through. Parking in the private lot was no problem. The lot is not large but seems adequate for the business. The lot appears well maintained and free of debris. I took a few minutes to study the menu boards then approached the counter to place my order. The young lady at the counter was polite and attentive. I got a Huge Burger, a Big Double Burger, double order of fries and a peach milkshake. I requested all the standard toppings and condiments on the burgers then paid extra for cheese. It took a little longer than I expected for my order to be prepared but not too bad. Looking around I observed a clean dining room with a few tables occupied by customers. Soon enough my order was ready and we were on our way home. The food. As I said at the onset, the fries were great. They were fresh and hot, well seasoned with just the right amount of crispiness. We enjoyed them. The burgers were a little subpar, rather bland and unexciting. The construction was pretty haphazard with toppings just tossed all over the place and the buns kind of smashed up. There was way too much mustard with only a trace of ketchup and no sign of mayonnaise. The mustard kind of overpowered the taste of the sandwich. Overall, the appearance was not very appetizing. The milkshake, everyone has always told me how great the shakes are at Cook Out. A few years ago I had a pineapple milkshake at a Cook Out in another part of the state. I remember it being okay but not being able to taste pineapple. Our peach shake was the same story, we couldn't really taste peach. It was a good vanilla milkshake with bits of what I assume was peaches but I just couldn't pick up much of a peach flavor. I doubt I'll return to Cook Out anytime soon as there are just too many better options in the area. read more

Look, let's be real....the food is great for what it is. Hot, fresh, fast and cheap. Don't come here looking for health food, organic food or anything else to feel good about yourself. This place is all about the self indulgence and high calorie goodness of extra sides, cheese, grease and bacon served with a Diet Coke. The chili dogs are excellent with great snap, the burgers are hot with just the right amount of grease to just start soaking the bun. The fries and onion rings are very good. Tonight I tried the food at Cook Out for the first time. I ordered the combo thing. Two hot dogs, fries, a bacon wrap, and a drink. I think this was around 10pm. It's now 1:00am and I've thrown up from it. And this was all I've had today. Yeah, I won't be returning. Not sure what is up but it didn't sit well with me. I'm not going to write a novel on Cook Out. The prices are good, their hamburgers are great, fries are kinda ok but more-so disappointing because I really, really wanted them to be better than 5 Guys all-around. The worst part about Cook Out (as I alluded to in my tip) is the customers. My favorite foods on Earth are cheeseburgers and fried chicken, yet I've avoided this delicious burger because being at Cook Out makes me feel like I'm trying to get a laptop at Walmart on Black Friday. Every time I drive by and I see both drive-thru lines stacked with cars, it just kills my taste for that burger.
