I didn't know or think that Cook Out was in Atlanta until we were driving past a place and they didn't have parking so my friend suggested Cook Out. I was so excited. When we walked in it was a bit overwhelming because of the many varieties and options they have. When we walked up to the counter the lady greeted us and gave us the run down of how to order. The inside looked like the average fast food place. Only thing I could say was the floors were very slippery. I ordered the tray with a Cheeseburger with onions and mayo, Cajun fries, white cheddar bites, chicken nuggets and a drink. The Cheeseburger was very good and made how I asked, The fries were good with the seasoning on it. The White Cheddar Bites were my favorite and I could have gotten 7 more of those. The Chicken nuggets werent my favorite at all. Overal I am a huge fan of Cook Out now. The pricing blew me away as it was so affordable. A fast food place I was kind of impressed by. I have a friend that eats it often in Raleigh so I wanted to try it in Atlanta. I got a tray with a cheeseburger with fries and onion rings. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it really blew my mind just how good that burger was. I think it was chargrilled. I ordered inside but they have a drive thru as well. The cashier answered all my questions and corrected my order when I got it wrong trying to understand what a "tray" was. Very fast service and well drinks. A TON of shake options. There are tables to sit at inside. The only fast food I eat is Wendy's, Chic-fil-A, and Zaxby's. Most others make me sick. Feels good I can add Cook Out to the list when I want a quick and easy cheap eat. My meal was $9 with a drink. I tried some cherry drink they had which wasn't bad either. I'll be going back for sure. On vacation & heard of this place from a friend of a friend. The experience was above and beyond what I expected. The menu was a little confusing and took a minute to look through. The staff was patient and didn't rush. There was no line inside. We ordered and the girl at the front (I think her name was Deasia) was so kind and down to earth. She brought us our order and shakes & really made the experience next level. The food and shakes were very tasty (& came out fast!). The real shake shack! Apparently this is the spot late at night in Atlanta. When we stopped by after a show, the cars were pulling up non-stop on a Friday around 10 pm. I was cautioned against getting food here, but if I wanted something sweet, the Cook Out Creamery is where it's at. They got all the typical chocolate, vanilla, strawberry flavors plus things like Walnut, Orange Push-Up, Peach Cobbler, Peanut Butter Fudge, Banana Fudge, and Banana Pudding. I got a Banana Pudding shake and for $3 it tasted just like banana pudding in a cup. To me Cook Out is like Sonics with no marketing budget but I can see how a no frills menu with burgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, and shakes has its appeal, especially when it's open late at night. Came here last night with my old college pals and ordered 2 chicken strip trays with Cajun fries, a chicken quesadilla and the new peppermint milkshake. The red hair lady with a tattoo on her neck, I think it was a butterfly was so nice. She was so welcoming and even though it was busy, we got great service. I love a good Cook Out hot dog and the ones here are just as good as I remember them growing up (unlike other restaurant food I've revisited from my youth). When it comes to fast food, Cook Out has almost always been enjoyable to me. This Cook Out on Northside Dr was the chain's second location in Atlanta (Moreland Ave was the first). It opened December 2014. In December 2015, a Chick-fil-A opened next door. These stores, along with the nearby longstanding Krystal, Burger King, McDonald's, and Five Guys, are making sure there is no shortage of fast food near Atlantic Station, Georgia Tech, and Westside. They're all within about a quarter-mile of each other on the same street. For those that don't know, Cook Out started in Greensboro, North Carolina (coincidentally, the city next to the city where I was born and raised). I had my fair share of Cook Out burgers, hot dogs, onion rings, and milkshakes in high school from various Cook Out locations in the Piedmont Triad (mostly, in High Point and Winston-Salem). The chopped pork BBQ and coleslaw they serve is considered Carolina-style. The Cook Out stores that started opening in Georgia in 2014 look nothing like the Cook Out stores I frequented in North Carolina in the late 90s. The new ones are bigger and look a lot "nicer," though they do have some sort of weird log cabin thing going on inside. Since this particular store is close to Tech, they've got GT flags up on the walls. Go Jackets! This Cook Out seems to be consistently busy, no matter what time of day. They've planned this location out well. There's adequate parking, seating for about 50 inside (guesstimate), and a double drive-thru. Unlike other Cook Outs, there's no outdoor seating here. The food is cheap. You can get a $4.99 tray which includes a main item (e.g. a burger, two hot dogs, chicken strips, etc.), two sides, and a drink. A la carte, no single item costs more than $3.99. Along with the aforementioned burgers, hot dogs, and chicken strips, Cook Out also sells chicken sandwiches and wraps, chopped pork BBQ on a sandwich or a plate, chicken nuggets, corn dogs, quesadillas, and more. They have 40 different milkshake flavors (including special seasonal flavors like watermelon and eggnog) as well as Coke and Cheerwine floats. Yes, they serve Cheerwine and it's available on tap at the fountain machines. Oh, and there are bible verses printed on the cups. I was wondering if that would carry over to Georgia. Looks like Cook Out and Chick-fil-A will get along just fine. I'm a fan of the "Cook Out Style" hot dog ($1.85) which comes with homemade chili and slaw, mustard, and chopped onion. Those same ingredients apply to the Cook Out Style burger as well. It's just delicious. Comfort food, I guess you could say. It's sloppy and messy to eat, but every bite is satisfying from the soft bun to the smoky chili. The chopped pork BBQ sandwich ($2.99) is tasty too. All burgers and sandwiches are compactly wrapped in foil. When you unwrap them, they'll be mushed, but they still taste good. I like Cook Out's flavorful chopped slaw (which comes on the BBQ sandwich). The pork is moist and savory. The burgers overshadow the BBQ sandwich, which I think is Cook Out's most underrated item. Sides are par for the course. Fries, onion rings, hush puppies... it's all deep-fried junk food. I usually go for the onion rings or hush puppies. They're not bad. I once tried the fries with chili and cheese and they're about what you'd expect. I think the fries taste best with Cajun seasoning. Try it. The milkshakes ($2.79) are wonderful. They are smooth, creamy, and not too thick nor dense, which I like. You can't go wrong with a classic vanilla, chocolate chip mint, or Oreo shake. They have other interesting flavors like banana pudding, cappuccino, Hi-C punch, peach cobbler, orange push-up, chocolate cobbler, and different cheesecake flavors. Service is fine. Whether dining in or taking out, all food is served in sturdy Cook Out-branded styrofoam containers. read more

But if I had to compare it to most fast food chains in the Atlanta area, it's definitely one I would prefer. It was around 10/11 PM, and this place was hopping on a Monday night. Location is key - this is super close to Georgia Tech. We were visiting Atlanta our flight came in late and we were starving. We were staying near the aquarium and needed a place that was open at midnight. We went driving a bit and everything was closed then we came across Cook Out. There was a huge line so we figured we would give it a try. Talk about a great surprise, first off the prices... coming from California the prices were shocking to say the least... very affordable and a TON of food for your dollar.
