I have been seeing Dr Sawyer for many years. I am always greeted warmly, seen quickly, and have had charges explained up front. I am always asked about any issues or problems with my eyes. Dr Sawyer is caring, thorough and spends the necessary time for a complete eye exam. I recommend this office highly. read more

I have been a patient for over twenty years but when I called to schedule an appointment I was told that because I had not been in for three years ( I doubt this. I bought a second pair of glasses two summers ago) that I am no longer a patient and can't be scheduled for an appointment. They use to call me or send an email annually to remind me to call them and set up an appointment which I always did. I hadn't heard from them which I attributed to COVID. Now they tell me I'm not a patient and that I can only be put on a waitlist for new patients. This is no way to treat someone you've doing business with for over twenty years. I had my eyes examined by Dr. Walker at Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, Outlook Optical, located within their office suite, did a horrible job in providing me good frames and a good fit. Following repeated attempts, I demanded a refund and went to Conway Eye Care. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The optician listened to my concerns and quickly found a perfect pair for me. I had a very difficult and potentially dangerous experience with Conway Eye Care. I returned to Conway Eye Care after an absence of several years . As expected, my prescription had changed. I got new frames and prescription. After a couple of weeks use, I returned because I was experiencing difficulty with focusing. It was suggested that I have a reexamination. Dr Reese did my initial exam and the reexam as well.. she was impatient with me and very disrespectful. It was found that my difficulty was just getting adjusted to my new prescription. The frames I had chosen were also interfering with my eyesight so I changed frames.. when I picked up my new frames, I still had some difficulty.. I hesitated to return because of the unprofessional attitude of Dr Reese. After experiencing headaches and not being able to read well, I did return on,y to be told that the incorrect lens had been ordered and placed in my frames. For several months, I had been given the wrong glasses putting my life in danger as well as others. I am so angry and really upset about what could have happened. I haven't decided what to do yet. I called for an eye examine to renew my contact prescription (my first and last appointment). I was seen by an assistant (I presume) for initial tests. She Dilated my eyes and sent me to the waiting area for what was only to get 15 minutes. I was sitting the a lot longer! The eye doctor finally took me in to continue the exam. She proceeded to tell me I had oily eyes. I asked about my contact prescription. She said (in a condescending tone) we'll need to set up another appointment for a fitting. I explained that I have what size I'll need at home, can I just bring that in? Why do I need sizing? She informed me that your eyes change sizes. I thought this is really odd. Upon paying $184, the receptionist said when we get your records from your previous eye doctor we can see you in three months for the fitting! I said never mind, I don't want to wait that long! I asked how much the sizing appointment would be and she said oh anywhere from $100 to $200! I left not very happy with the service. A few weeks later, I call my previous eye doctor and asked about my records being forwarded as well as the eye changing sizes. The receptionist said they had sent them out a while ago and NO your eyes don't changed sizes! I call Conway EyeCare to inquire about my records and what I had learned regarding eyes changing size. I was told that she didn't see them but she would call the eye doctor who was in Berlin. She said she would call me back. She called me back to tell me she had called to get my records from my old EyeCare doctor. She also told me that the doctor (from Conway EyeCare) said she'd need to do a sizing because I had dry eyes and she needed to be sure my contacts fitted properly. I said so which is it...size change or dry eyes? Different story. At this point in time, I informed the receptionist I'm not happy and the eye doctor had an attitude with me. Long story, I'm going elsewhere! I'm collecting my records from Conway EyeCare and not returning!!! I've never had such lack of customer service from an EyeCare facility. The doctor could have explained things better and lose the attitude! The receptionist should have informed me what was entailed to obtaining contacts with them. P.S. now the receptionist said that I didn't mention that at the time of making my appointment! Well when I was sitting there with my eyes dilated, I heard the same story being told to another patient. read more

I am giving them a poor review because I feel they did not explain their charges and prices when I had my appointment. I had a thorough exam, and bought a pair of glasses, plus had new lenses put in another pair of glasses. I paid $945. Two months later I get a bill for $145, which is the cost of the eye exam. When I called I was told they submitted the charge to Medicare and my insurance, even though I'd told them I am not covered by either. When I paid the $945 it was with the understanding it covered all charges. I never received an itemized bill; if I'd seen one before I purchased the glasses I never would've bought them. Interestingly, the bill for the $145 came two days after my 60 day "satisfaction guarantee" expired. read more

I saw Dr. Sawyer today for a posterior vitreous detachment. My visit was outstanding, she was very compassionate, articulate and was very intuitive and patient as I very anxiously described my frightening episode of flashes and floaters. She spent a lot of time with me, completely educating me on what a PVD entails, what to look out for, when to call back, and when to know that it would be an immediate need to come to the office. Dr Sawyer performed a thorough examination and put my mind at ease that my vision was going to be OK. I have never been to an eye Doctor Who spent so much time with a patient to alleviate my fears and to confirm based on her thorough examination that I would be OK. Sarah her ophthalmic technician was pleasant , efficient, and kind. Kim at the front desk was amazing and got me right in for an appointment. She was very informative on the phone to alleviate my fears and I was seen in a timely fashion, all the while alleviating my anxious demeanor with her calm, direct and helpful eyecare information. She is an absolute pleasure to deal with! And we all know how challenging front desk people can be when calling or checking in. She represents and presents a very level headed demeanor and is incredibly compassionate and smart! and Jill in the optical shop was an absolute pleasure, she worked with me to find New eyeglasses based on my significant prescription change and was very honest on what looked good and did not look good on me. She did not up sell or hard sell me into something I could not afford and I was grateful for that !!and for my new, updated glasses, they are super! I highly recommend Conway Eye Care and their staff especially Dr. Sawyer,!Sarah, her technician and Kim at the front desk. I went to Conway Eye Care for prescription glasses, specifically, progressive lenses. This was my first time with a progressive lens, and they never told me that this particular type of lens does best with a larger frame. I selected a smaller frame, and the woman said how lovely they looked on me. After ordering them, I noticed that I had to tip my head way back to be able to see people clearly when talking to them. I was told this was something I'd just have to get used to. After I insisted that they change the lenses twice, the problem persisted, and they refused to make more changes. Basically, I paid $600 bucks for glasses that didn't allow me to see correctly. I then went to another eye care center, and they told me the problem was the frames, because they were too small to properly handle a progressive lens. AVOID CONWAY EYE CARE (AND THEIR SISTER COMPANY, COOS EYE CARE, IN BERLIN LIKE THE PLAGUE UNLESS YOU LIKE THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY! read more
