They sent us gift baskets both when they heard about a death in our family and when they found out we were pregnant with our first child. And last week, when we had a leak that damaged the kitchen ceiling, they came out immediately (within 1 hour of us calling) to investigate. Even though it turned out that the leak was coming from our bathroom and was unconnected to the work they had done last summer, LBK still covered the repair of the kitchen ceiling, drywall, and painting under the warranty. Jose, our project manager, was instrumental in getting this done. Less than a week later, it was good as new. We are so grateful to LBK for their service and generosity, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality work and excellent customer relations.

Even from the start of "sales" process, no one ever pressured us, and the team was completely understanding of and worked within our budget. The design process was really easy and enjoyable - LBK really got to know us and suggested designs and items for the spaces that really fit with our personalities and themes. Once that was done, the team was clear about when the project would get started and overall timelines. The Project Manager and on-site team were absolutely wonderful - they were always respectful of the space and our family when we were in and out and by cleaning up at the end of the day. The head carpenter for each of the jobs (kitchen and master bath) also took our space and family's tastes in mind for individual recommendations when looking at final fittings/hardwares, etc. Even all the individual contractors they had come in for the work (electricians, plumbers, etc.) were all very considerate. I could not recommend this LBK Design team more highly - you will be in such trustworthy and skilled hands throughout the whole process.

Since pictures speak louder than words- here are some photos of our ELEVEN year old deck despite the fact that we stained it and water proofed it every year as instructed. We haven't been able to use any part of our backyard for the last 2 years because it is too dangerous to step outside. Due to no fault of our own we had 8-16" holes, crumbling boards and sunken steps that are too dangerous to walk on. Imagine telling your children they can't go out back! The contractor we unfortunately hired has blamed everyone else but himself: the company he purchased the wood from, the company who pressure treated it prior to it ever being on the shelves, the company that manufactured the nails (they are supposed to use deck grade screws) it has been truly unbelievable to hear all of the excuses. During the removal (of course he refused to do it himself or help pay for it) we discovered just how badly rotten our "pressure-treated" support beams were. He also left all construction debris underneath since he knew it would be covered and we wouldn't know. Just terrible craftsmanship and use of inferior products all around, despite charging us for premium supplies. Please neighbors and friends - do not ever let Pat Johnston touch a project in your home. Luckily for us it's an exterior deck. I can't imagine if he made these glaring errors in a kitchen, bathroom or any other crucial place within the home. He re-branded and changed names recently. So please take care in your research that you don't accidently come across him.

The framing around the inside of the windows was altered so we had to drill new holes to re-install the window treatments. The window in one of the rooms whistles. And for the first time in 15 years we have water in the basement because of the poor configurarion of the new gutters. I can't get a response from them so I am forced to write this negative review. John gave us a competitive estimate in mid-2022 to renovate a hallway and half bath - a project delayed by budgets and the pandemic for about 4+ years. We set a start date of early January 2023 and John began his work. We found John and his colleague to be extremely professional, prompt and thoughtful in their work. What's more - John asked questions and verified details with us as he went. There was no assuming what we might want, and he offered helpful ideas and recommendations. Working in a fairly tight space, John and his colleague were respectful of the fact that I work from home and, although construction noise is unavoidable when tearing down walls and what have you, they were not intrusive or blasting loud music as they worked. I sincerely appreciated their professional manner and dress because my mother lives with us and I am keenly aware of how strangers in the house might make her feel uncomfortable. They were so polite and respectful of her and my family. That cannot be said of all contractors. Now, the work quality: I'd rate it excellent or better. John took great care to ensure the quality of the work and materials would meet or exceed our expectations. He even found a better solution for some cabinets for us that matched the style we wanted without impacting the budget. The drywall work was excellent. He managed to match and/or mirror some intricate moldings to exactly what we hoped for. John also stayed late once or twice because he wanted to make sure the quality of the work was also up to his high standards. Prior to hiring John, we had another company work on a basement renovation. The comparison was like night and day. The company handling the basement took too long, cost too much and the quality of both the work and the workers was not good.
