The staff at this location are always courteous and helpful, and the dry cleaning and laundry services are generally good. My problem is with the filthy condition of the entry area. The tile floor is absolutely encrusted with dirt, the non-slip rugs are filthy and even the service counter is not clean. Wire metro shelves holding packages of folded sheets and shirts have strings of filth hanging down; these shelves have not been touched in MONTHS. Even though the location is convenient, I have had to stop going here. The filthy entry area makes my skin crawl - and I don't even want to imagine what rest of the interior looks like. read more

I recently moved back to Carmel Valley after living 10 years in Mission Hills. Back then, Continental was my go-to place for dry cleaning. Not so much anymore. Their once very competitive prices are now on par for the area, and their service has slipped considerably. Three times now I've shown up 1-2 days after cleaning was to be ready, only to wait while they rapidly pressed a pair of pants, or worse, was told that my cleaning wasn't ready and wouldn't be for a while. The while being anywhere from a few hours to the next day. Time to move on... read more

Decent cleaning usually but of 10 items I've had cleaned here I've had to had 2 redone. Recently raised their prices significantly without notice, refused to honor the usual price when I picked up since they hadn't told me or posted the change. Take your receipt! Had 2 *very* expensive items "disappear" after I dropped them off. Staff swears computer didn't show them in their system which is exactly what would happen if a clerk stole them. Manager Maria was rude, annoyed, and refused to search computer by garment description to see if it got connected to a different name, or even write down my claim. Said there is no procedure for making a lost item claim! Promised owner would call but he never did. read more

Moved here from NY. Apparently there's hardly any dry cleaners with consistently good reviews in SD country. Tried this place because had fairly good rating overall and between my home and work. Brought my fairly new, never been dry cleaned, gabardine wool trousers here for cleaning and press. When I remove the plastic the following day and wore them, on my way to work, I noticed that the material seemed fuzzier than normal; there were a lot of hairs sticking out but thought maybe it was just me overthinking. Sure enough, when I got home and compared them to my other three that are identical but different colors, the material had definitely been damaged. Even the inside lining of the seat and pockets were very pilled and the material was looked washed and worn. Either the cleaners used excessive chemicals, washed them in water, high heat, or a combo of the three. Luckily they were my least favorite color so I threw them in the fire pit. Won't be going back there to say the least. read more

YES! First one. Not sure how, because these peeps rock. Maybe because it's mostly old folks who roll in this joint. I am in love with the ladies of Continental Cleaners - and whoever this owner is. I regularily drop my shirts, skirts, and something else that rhymes with those things. They do an awesome job every time. They are quick, affordable, and super nice. They remember my name and so when I drop off I don't even have to say anything, they just know. They also have free Union Tribunes. The owner gets them the fifth star fo sho. I have never met this person, but I have dropped off what every other place told me was an impossible rug to clean and BOOYUH he made it shiny clean again. Go here. read more

I am writing this update to say that today Mike the owner of Continental Cleaners went out of his way and sought me out to apologize for my last experience at his cleaners in what has to be one of the most honorable business redemptions I've seen in quite a long while. He explained to me that his customers should expect quality service and was sorry he was not there the day I came in to his store. He compensated me for my troubles and has earned my respect and my future business. I agree that customers concerns should be addressed properly in order to keep them happy and continue their business. This was originally a 1-star review only because I was very disappointed in how they handled a claim for a damaged item. However the owner has since responded professionally (within 2 weeks) and I'm back to being a satisfied customer again after 8 loyal years. The reason I selected them originally is the reason I will continue to use them, they use the best processes for dry cleaning items for people who are sensitive to chemicals. I'm highly allergic and I've never had a problem with my dry cleaning coming out of this place insofar as reactions. Their employees are always pleasant and their prices pretty good. I don't recommend dry cleaning precious wool-filled comforters (ever, not just with them - lesson learned), but my cashmere sweaters come back in excellent condition. I won't give them 5 stars because my silks have had questionable results and seem to fade. I'm not sure if that's the dry cleaning or the fabric, though. For every day dry cleaning, they are a reliable place to drop off your delicate items and laundry. read more

The owner personally handles the restoration of light colored, high quality cottons and silks. No dry cleaner in the area does that. He has gotten out stains that all other cleaners said they would not even try to clean. He is an expert who rises to the challenge of restoring a piece as much as possible. Prices are reasonable. This is my favorite dry cleaner, and I take my clothes pretty darn seriously. read more

This is my first time writing a review and I am not the type to do this, but these people are great enough for me to sign up for Yelp and take the time to do this! If you have difficult spots on your expensive clothes and can't wear them anymore you want to try Continental cleaners for sure! I have 2 light color suits with brown spots all over them for a long time, which I could not use anymore. I looked around for a great cleaner and finally I found one. The manager Jessica was very nice and accommodating. The owner mike worked on one of my suits until he removed all the brown spots. They are currently working on the other one and don't give up. Most people will do their best a couple of time and tell you that it won't come out, but Mike won't give up until the job is done. You need to give him time and not be in a rush. They helped me with a smile and reasonable prices. read more

We routinely bring my suits and my wife's work clothes here and have never had any problems. Recently I had two of my favorite ties get some kind of liquid on them, I blame the baby, and they were able to restore them to their original condition. I have been using Continental Cleaners for 17 years. In the last 2 years the have lost 6 items of clothing. When I question them they simply said you got the same amount back as you brought in. In 1 occasion they told me wife that she only brought in 5 pieces when the slip stated there were 6. When questioning the clerk she simply turned around and walked out of the building. This place has gone straight down hill and I now I use another cleaner. I would strongly recommend others to count their clothes and see that they get their own clothing items back instead as I have getting other peoples items as I have on numerous occasions. Exceptional treatment of important items of clothing - I had my older daughter's wedding dressed cleaned for storage with Continental a few years ago, a bit pricey but a job well done. Last week I took my 38 year old wedding dress in to be 'freshened' so that my younger daughter could wear it when she marries next year. It looks like a new item, almost glistening! I brought my clothes to Continental Cleaners for a change. They are less expensive than my regular dry cleaners (and nicer). However, I was very disappointed in the outcome. My pretty new lace shirt (Bailey brand) seemed all stretched out and lacked bounce. My brand new white skirt (another great brand, I forget the name) is now dingy gray and also lost its bounce. Ugh. The skirt is ready for the consignment store, although this is the first time I had it cleaned. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back to Ogdens, which is $$$ and not so nice. read more

She requested some very unique changes to be made and when she got them back they all came out better than she even imagined. Since then she has been bringing all of our dry cleaning there as well.
