paid $138 for a bike tune-up - next very time my wife took it out (2 days later) for a casual street ride down to P.C. July 4th parade, the front brake (non-disc) literally blew up... Dropped off the bike for repair and was charged another $26. Asked if that should've been addressed in tune-up and got a blank stare while owner standing there listening... It's not the $26 but, it's NOT standing behind your work - maybe if the bike said 'Specialized' it would've been handled differently read more

I needed my drivetrain replaced: chain, cassette, chain ring. They did not replace my chain ring, said it wasn't necessary, which seemed unlikely. The biked creaked in every gear and the technician admitted maybe he should've replaced the chain ring. since they had had my bike for some time we took it and I brought it to contender Salt Lake who also said no, it's not the chain ring you need a new hub and perhaps bottom bracket. I got out of there and brought my bike to the bicycle center on 21st who changed my chain ring and now my bike works perfectly. Very weird experience with contender. I cannot recommend them. read more

Bought a new $12k bike. The bike I received was missing a piece from the frame, tires were not setup with tubeless even though they advertise this, wheel sensors not working, Shimano shifters firmware missing updates and require to bring to a local dealer to fix. Very disappointed. read more

While I give them kudos for getting my bike repairs done very quickly; I'm super disappointed by my final bill. I was told in the store (and I did specifically ask) that the rear shock service would be $50; but I was charged $65. I was told that hydraulic brake bleed was $30 per brake; but I was charged $40. Not sure what happened ... but it's super lame and unprofessional to charge that much more than quoted. Will not return for this reason. read more

I'm pretty bummed about the last service I got at Contender :( I've visited before for service and parts and always felt like they have fair prices, friendly faces, etc. but this last visit left a lot to be desired. I got their major tune-up to start off the season and asked them to look at my seat dropper, which was sticking and needed to be serviced. Maybe my expectations were misaligned with the service, but I was hoping they'd give my bike an early season "once over" and let me know if any additional service was recommended beyond the major tune package. I'm woefully unskilled at bike maintenance and repairs myself.... When I got my bike back about 5 days later I asked what they ended up doing to the dropper and the guy at the PC shop couldn't really tell me, but it was working a bit better (not perfect, though). Ok, that's fine. I threw it on the car and went for a ride, and immediately heard the loudest creak my bike has ever made. The saddle wasn't secured back on and was super wobbly. All good, easy enough fix (but a little sloppy...). Pretty soon after I realized that my brakes were shot (I hadn't ridden since last season so was just feeling it all out). They needed to be bled, a new rear rotor, new brake pads to accompany the rotor. I know that's beyond the major tune service, but should have been fairly obvious with just a minute of attention and I would have loved to take care of it all at once. So, back to the shop. Kinda bummed that it seems like I just ended up with an expensive bike wash. The folks at Contender are SUPER nice and I know they do a great job a lot of the time, so I'm hoping maybe it was just a fluke. read more

Purchased my gravel/endurance road bike online from Contender Bicycles and had a very positive experience. I had never purchased a bike online before but could not find the bike I wanted at any of the local bike shops within 100 miles of where I live. Contender bicycles had great customer service & communication. I ordered a stock bike and had them customized it with specific component changes & upgrades that I wanted, and I received a credit for whatever was taken off the stock bike. During the entire process, they gave me expert advice and kept me updated on the build progress via an extended chat session which remained open the entire time. It was like buying a bike from a local bike shop in terms of customer service and getting a stock bike modified to your specifications. I highly recommend them. read more

Earlier in the day Contender bikes in SLC set me up with new cranks after I broke mine! Ended up puncturing my rear tire (tubeless) in the same day, and couldn't seat the tire. Went into the Park City Contender with my new tire on the rim, just needed air. Mechanic was happy to help, took my wheel and tried inflating. My valve core was finicky, so he replaced the core, shot some air into my wheel, and seated my tire. Great service, and less than 5 minutes of my time! Both contender shops had great service. Saved me midway through a 17 day bike trip! read more

Contender Park City is every bit as good as Contender Salt Lake City, which in my opinion is the best shop in the Intermountain West. Ever since I met the owner of the Salt Lake City shop several years ago (who gave me an on-the-spot demonstration on adjusting a hub, and a complimentary tool so I could make the adjustments myself in the future), I've refused to buy a bike anywhere else. I have been to countless shops in Utah, and I travel around a fair amount and try to always visit a bike shop when I'm out and about. I've found some decent shops in places ranging from Alaska to Ohio, South Dakota to California, Colorado to Hawaii, and lots of other places in between, but I have never been to a shop with the combination of service and quality I find at Contender. Since my first purchase in September 2009, and now 21 bikes from Contender later, Contender has made me a customer for life. The Park City location makes already great things even better! read more

I would give this shop a zero if I could. I heard great things and never write reviews. This experience was so bad I had to. I brought my bike in for a tune up and to have the brake bleed. While I was there I saw an employee put my bike on the stand and it took about 4 times of him moving and shifting my bike to get it correctly on. Take note my dropper post wires are located right where he was shifting my bike around. When I picked up my bike I noticed instantly they didn't not clean the bike like they said they would. There was still Moab dirt on it from weeks before. When I took my bike for a ride I instantly noticed my dropper post DID NOT work. I took the bike in and addressed them about the dropper post- they blamed it on me. Said my dropper was old pretty much. I let them know I was not okay with that answer since it worked PERFECTLY fine before they had my bike in their shop. The employee was disgruntled but did replace the wiring. It now works. The second time I rode my bike the brake that was supposedly bled would not stop me barely at all and squeaked super loud. When I was in the shop the employee told my my brake pads were fine and no need to replace them. I had a friend re bleed my brake and it was done two times through and IT WAS ALL BLACK. So. That leaves me to believe the shop DID NOT bleed my brake. Yet I was charged for all of it. Won't be taking my bike or referring anyone to go to this location. read more

I usually don't write reviews about anything but I was really impressed with the level of customer service, how knowledgable those guys are and with how affordable service was comparing to other bike shops in Park City which have lost their minds regarding to price. I dropped my tri bike to get tubulars done after failed attempt at home. They got both wheels done, got presta valve extension, explained me why I had trouble before, called me couple of times to check on things and on the additional things if I wanted to get it done. I never asked for price but when it came to pay I was pleasantly surprised again. Thank you guys - especially you Jeremiah for getting done and great communication.
