Highly UNRECOMMENDED. Dropped off a cocktail dress and a men's blazer here in late October. When I went to pick them up less than a week later, I was told they were lost. I was told they were "looking for them" and to give them a week, which we did. We returned to the business after a week (gave them a few extra days) and still nothing. The employee called the owner, and he apologized and said that "per policy" he would only reimburse us 5x the cost of the cleaning. Fine, can't argue that as it's policy DESPITE the cost of both items being 5x that amount. We took the money and tried to replace the items, and are ultimately successful - ended up spending more than the money we were given. 3.5 weeks pass and they call - they found my stuff. Amazing news, we thought - but NO. The owner refused to give us back our (uncleaned) clothing unless we returned the reimbursement. I said no, and he hung up on me. Later that day, I went to the store and tried to talk it out. (Side note: there is no written policy about if lost clothing is somehow found weeks later). We argued that we spent the money replacing the items that they admitted were lost; it's not like it was a day or so -- 4 weeks had passed! If they didn't agree that the items were lost, why reimburse us? If we were to return the $ to him, we would be out 2x - the original cost of the items, and the cost of replacing them. But the kicker is that he called the cops on us. I'm sure they had nothing better to do with their time, amiright? So: tl;dr: if you'd like to entrust your clothing to an unscrupulous, unpleasant man who runs a business where they lose your clothing and don't treat their customers with respect then ... by all means, bring your clothes here to be cleaned. I wanted to go in person, but I heard they call the police for telling them they did a crappy job. Absolutely do not use this place. I've been to CONTEMPORARY CLEANERS twice for re-hemming of my trousers. The first time they pressed the crease into my relaxed trousers so the second time I came I made sure to state MULTIPLE TIMES to the gentleman at the desk, I did not want that. As my trousers have a relaxed look... Of course I received it back with a pressed crease... SO IRRITATING, when I still haven't gotten out the crease in my other pants which was done months ago. Very annoying when your simple requests aren't considered. Another star off bc that second time I went, the gentleman helping me waited for the seamstress to make a comment on my pants, she was rude, I couldn't understand what she was saying to me, as she was rushing back to chit chat with another customer she knew. I figured I'd try this place out since it's closer to my job, but I won't be returning. read more

It was a pretty complicated dress to hem, but she did it flawlessly (picture included), finished within a week, and all for a reasonable price. I simply asked the alteration shop to add a Velcro patch to my military style shaving bag. This procedure took over a week. Because the employee could not understand what was needed after several explanations. After asking for the owner named Lee to take over the project he to did it wrong and had to redo the work. He stated at one point he did not have two side Velcro in his alterations shop and asked me to go buy it for him.. What kind of alterations shop does not have what is needed on hand but in fact only had the one side Velcro.. what good is that!!! After serval explanations and repeated instructions they were finally able to complete the project. To make it worse they added to the bill of what was originally stated, due to adding more materials.Please do not take anything you are going to be repaired or altered in anyway to this location. read more

Claimed to be under new management so I tried this dry cleaner again and still problems, this time blatantly lying right to my face. I purchased 5 new shirts and took them to be cleaned and pressed, when I was dropping the shirts off I noticed one of the employees taking the collar stay downs out so I figured they took them out to clean them and would put them back in. I picked up the shirts on Friday and went to wear one today (Tuesday). I noticed the collar wasn't laying down so I looked and the shirt was missing the left stay down. I looked at the 4 other shirts as well and they were all missing the stay down on the left side. I took the shirts back to them and they claimed the machine took them out. Funny how the machine managed to remove only the left for each shirt. When I told the man I watched him take them out when I dropped them off he called the manager to come talk to me and he bumbled around with the shirt and had no answers for me. Needless to say I will never use this business again. After Lee sold the company this place just keeps changing hands and declining with each owner. read more

My husband brought 4 pairs of brand new dress pants to this cleaner to have hemmed. He has brought dozens of pants there under the previous owners without issue. After his pants were hemmed, someone decided to press them which the care tag on the garment says not to do. When they were pressed, it was completed 1 inch away from the natural seem so now the pants are completely unwearable because there are two "seem" lines going down the legs. He was not notified that the business would press his pants when they were dropped off. When we asked if they could fix it we were told "most people like this". But the care tag specifically said not to do this. Had there been a sign saying that pants were to be pressed after alternations, we could have opted out. The owner is also telling us it is our issue to deal with because they are not responsible for the damage as we should have known they would be pressed. So we are out the cost of the four pairs of unusable dress pants. Do not go here if you like your clothes. read more

In a store that has had different cleaners housed there in the past, they do quality work. I am a repeat customer who takes my suits there on a regular basis. Recently, I had a seam separate on a suit jacket, and not wanting to throw it out, took it there with my fingers crossed. Their seamstress did an amazing job in repairing the seam so well that the repair is not noticeable. Plus, the repair only cost $10.00 and saved me the inconvenience of having to find a suit jacket that complemented the barely-worn suit pants. We also had a comforter cleaned there, and were impressed with the results. The gentleman at the counter is always nice and friendly, and is knowledgeable about the services that they offer. Now, would I ever bring an expensive rug there? Of course not! It's not a question of trust or competence. It's the same reason I wouldn't order fish at a steak restaurant. For expensive or heirloom carpets, take them to a business whose forte is cleaning said items; that's just common sense. This place should be avoided at all costs. They destroyed our carpet the we left to be dry cleaned. I asked the man 3 times DRY CLEAN ONLY he told me yes all 3 times. Dry clean no problem be 2 weeks. We stopped back after 2 weeks still not done told us another week or 2. $ weeks go by, we stopped in it was ready. We picked it up he heloed to load in the car. We looked at it and saw the edges were falling apart, we showed him and he told us it was that way when we dropped it off. The whole carpet was falling apart. We took it to the store we bought it from 3 years ago and we were told by them that it was steam cleaned not dry cleaned. Now this is a 3K carpet 10X12 We took it back to the cleaners and demanded he make this right. NOPE, we had to take him to court. He lost we have a judgment for payment to replace the carpet. It has been 3 months now no payment and the owner keeps avoiding us I have stopped in and Diane has stopped in the man we took to court tells us it is his twin brother we worked with, we have to talk to him. Dropped off a king comforter, they did a nice job. Then we dropped off a Heritage Hall 8'x11' area rug to be dry cleaned. Mr. Lee the proprietor was there at the time, we asked him if they can dry clean a rug this size. He told us yes no problem be ready in a week. 2 weeks go by no... call 3 weeks go by & we stop in and the rug was ready. We loaded the rug in our car and right away noticed the edges of the rug were falling apart. We took the rug to Carpet Mart in Exton where we purchased it and they told us the rug was washed with water and not dry cleaned as we asked Mr. Lee to do and he agreed to do. The label on the rug states DRY CLEAN ONLY. We went right back to Central Cleaners and Mr. Lee came out to our car and looked at the rug and told us right out that the rug was already damaged. We said no it was not and he refused to repair or pay us for the damages. We had to take Mr.Lee/Central Cleaners to small claims court, where we won the judgement against Mr.Lee/Central Cleaners in the amount of $1585.35. That was July 2, 2015... in spite of his lying and swearing on the bible it was obvious he destroyed our carpet. It is now Sept 2015 and no payment for the damages. Be wise...so many local honorable businesses /dry cleaners that deserve your business. Avoid this one! Cheap is not always the best! read more
