Fantastic classes! Music Video Moves with Arica is energetic and more fun than you should having getting a workout. Arica is an amazing instructor who really makes the class what it is. Her commitment to have fun while teaching the class is infectious. Heels with Madison lets you showcase your sassy side. I love learning a dance over the month; it gives you the chance to improve each week. Looking forward to taking more classes. I also had the pleasure of attending the professional companies show, very well done. The small venue felt intimate and the choreography was intriguing. read more

By no means am I a dancer. I took a beginner's dance class in high school (over 5 years ago) and it was more like gym class, where as long as you show up you automatically get a good grade. I went to one of the classes in September of 2016 and I'm not going to lie, I got really lazy and haven't gone back until recently. I honestly think that whether you are a college student, a parent, someone who has danced when they were a kid or never danced before, the classes are always fun to go to. It's fun to go with friends, but I go and I don't know anyone and I don't feel like I'm alone. I am a horrible dancer, and half the time, I'm on the opposite leg, wrong beat or I look completely lost and I never have felt embarrassed. Even one of the classes, it felt like everyone knew the choreography, except me, but I just smiled and danced a beat behind and no one seemed to mind! :) I attempted to do a split (I cannot do it to save my life) but the instructor (Arica) just gave me a thumbs up and smile, which is a great feeling knowing I'm not being judged negatively or feeling pressure to do it correctly right away. Below are the reviews of the classes I've taken so far. Hip Hop for Beginners (Madison) - So, I THOUGHT about taking intermediate. I've grown up listening to hip hop, so I was thinking, "I can probably do the intermediate moves" but in Sept 2016 the intermediate class just didn't fit in my schedule so I took the beginner's class. I originally thought I wouldn't get a great workout, because the moves may be some small or not as intense as I would of thought the intermediate class would be. I was wrong! I felt my body sore the next day. Madison, is not only a wonderful instructor, she was energetic and time just flew by. I like that the choreography had hard moves, smooth moves, and just a variety of styles. I took her class for a few weeks, even bought the 6 class card (which never expire). I had a great time and really liked it! Madison teaches a different class where the dancers wear heels and it looks like so much fun, I do plan to attend a class soon. A few of the hip hop for beginner classes that I took, Madison wasn't the instructor. So I got to work with different instructors, which honestly was great! The dances were all different, and fun. They also talked about the classes they taught, and showed some of their moves which I was in absolute "awe" in. There was an instructor that specializes in robotics, he was awesome and the dance was a lot of fun too. Hip Hop Zumba (Arica) - I've gone twice now, and it's so much fun! She talks to everyone as if she's really good friends with them and it's a nice, welcoming environment. She really knows how to make us sweat though! It's overall a lot of fun! There are people of all different backgrounds, ages and sizes that go, which I love! There are people that seem to have friends in the class, and some that are like me and don't know everyone, but no one seems to be judging anyone. I haven't felt embarrassed not knowing the choreography right away. I've jumped up when everyone was going down, and I just laughed because it's a fun environment. She's an awesome instructor, and she promotes what else is going on at the dance company. Deep stretch (Raii) -- Definitely love taking this class! It's at 8p on Wednesdays (after the Hip Hop Zumba) and it feels great to just stretch after a good workout and before bed. Raii is so calming, and he's not pushing anyone to do anything that may hurt. He's said a few times, "as long as you feel the stretch, you're doing a great job". I just thought to myself "how positive is that!". I really felt a great stretch on my big muscles, and on my little muscles. It was relaxing but great! There weren't a ton of people at this class when I went, so it felt more close knit the class. I was surprised though, because he's awesome and the class is a great stretch class! Overall, I recommend this place to anyone! It's a great workout, and so different from the mundane gym / treadmill / weights routine. All the classes I took were the adult classes, and I liked the 6 classes package purchase. There's also other packages which all of them are reasonably priced. I think this place is great for literally anyone. There's no judgement, they welcome everyone and the people that do attend all have a good time, I do for sure. The one and only thing I wish they would do, is make a dance to Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" because I love Ed! read more

Came before and returned forthe self defense class. Raii was great, I feel like I learned enough to be essential, but not so much that it was overwhelming. The class was just me and the owner, so we both got individual attention at our respective levels, and a good amount of cardio. My arms were burnt out at the end of class, and I learned a kick too. They also have capoiera and I'm excited to try that too. I'm just glad that since this was a dance studio, i didn't walk into am expert class, and both of my classes here have been manageable for non dancers. read more

I took the Afrojazz/modern class with ashrael and I obviously loved it! It was so much fun to learn that kind of dancing. The dancing instructor broke down the basic movements and we practiced basic Afrojazz moves across the dance floor before we got into the choreography. The dance instructor will also help you individually too! The class is all ages and all levels. It's truly a great time to let loose and have fun! read more

I signed up for a hip hop class here with Joanna a few days ago, and I had an incredible experience. When I walked in and said that I've never been there before, they gave me a tour of the place, and everyone was extremely welcoming! In the class, there was a pretty good range of people with dance experience. From the people in the back like me who had never been to a dance class before, to the dancers that looked like they have been doing this for years, and everyone in between! Regardless of everyone's experience, we all still had a blast, and got to learn an amazingly choreographed dance. Lastly, they shared their company values with us, and I respect them SO so much as a community studio. I would recommend Consuming Kinetics to anyone looking to get into dance some more whether it be your first class or your fifth year in the art! You will love this place and the people there! read more

I tried this studio during my first and second weeks of my ClassPass Journey. I loved the location and the neighborhood. You can always find parking around the studio. They have several class options, so make sure to look online for their class schedule. I visited the studio and took Buti Yoga with Malissa and Zumba with Arica. I absolutely loved both classes. It was my first time taking Buti Yoga so I really was not sure what to expect but I really loved it. Any class that has a wide range of music on their playlist is an instant YAS for me. Of course, some poses were a very challenging for me but you can always complete them in various modifications. This class was filled with a tribal feel with not the normal type of yoga music. It was very upbeat and loved every sweaty second of it. The energy in the building was grand with a tall full of mirrors, nice somewhat padded floors, and big beautiful windows. They have a vending machine, restroom, and a place to store your belonging during the class. During my first visit, I met the owner (Arica) and loved her vibe and energy.. The Zumba class with Arica was like no other! I am a Zumba lover so I took this course wondering how it will go because every teacher is different. It was very different from other Zumba classes I have taken but not in a bad different way. It was somewhat of a ballet or dance flare to it which was interesting. I would recommend anyone to give this studio a try :) read more

I have been taking dance classes with CKDC for a few years now. I have never been the slightest bit disappointed by any class I have ever taken with them. Every teacher is fantastic and there is a class for everyone. If you are looking for an awesome group of people to dance with, this is the place to come! read more

Very fun! Had a blast. The contemporary class was challenging enough to to keep me interested but not overwhelming.

Used them for our first dance at our wedding. We didn't have a lot of time left to choreograph and learn the dance, but Arica, was amazing, helpful and very supportive. Neither of us had danced before so we had a lot to learn. Arica quickly choreographed our song and was very patient with us and our lack of ability. She even helped edit our song to make it not as long and repetitive. Without her help I do not think we would have been able to do nearly as well as we did. The studio itself is spacious and nice. There are windows at the back and a large mirror at the front. The studio was clean and although there were always classes before our lesson, the sessions were always timely. Arica was very communicative with us and flexible work our time constraints. It also looks like the studio offers a lot of interesting classes, which might be worth checking out. I would def recommend this studio for wedding choreography! read more

I love this dance studio! It is one of the best studio in Saint Louis without a doubt. I go to their beginner hip hop class every Tuesday now and it's always been so much fun. I plan on trying out other dance classes soon because of all the wonderful experience I've had so far. Everyone is welcoming and encouraging. Even if you are beginner you will always learn a lot and see improvements along the way! read more

I agree with everyone's comments who has written a 5 star review for this studio!! Rather than repeating their excellent comments which I would say again II want to give my personal experience. First of all I'm not a dancer... never have been, and never will be. I took my first classes yesterday because I don't enjoy conventional exercise, could never stick with going to the gym because I hate it there (boring) but want to get in shape. I'm uncoordinated and not athletic. That being said I loved loved loved the classes I took at this studio. In the past when I have tried aerobics etc I never went back after the first class because I intimidated because I could not follow along. I had no preconceived opinion about what a dance class was like at all. I have never taken dance.....I went in with an open mind because Arica (the instructor and company director) encouraged me to give it a try. I can't thank her enough for introducing me to something that does not feel like exercise and even though I really cannot follow all the fancy footwork and moves (especially Zumba it didn't matter! The others in the class were helpful and ARICA has this high energy, positive attitude that is absolutely infectious. So. Long story but this studio may have something for everyone. The energy in each class is overwhelmingly positive which is exactly what someone with no dance skills looking for an excellent workout may be looking for!!! read more

I attended the Wednesday evening Zumba class at Central Studio for about 6 months while I was living in St. Louis - and it was worth every penny! The instructor Arica is high-energy, which means that you get a tremendous workout each time (a whole lot of sweating). After trying several instructors in the area, I always tell people that Arica is clearly the best. She also incorporates a variety dance styles (especially hip-hop) into her routines, so there's something for everyone in each class. The Wed. class usually gets packed quickly, so if you go, be sure to get there just a little early to snag a good spot. She also teaches Sundays, which may be more open. Thanks, Arica & CDKC! read more

I've always looked for a dance studio to learn all styles of dance. I've been going for about 2 months and loved every single class that I've been to. Arica and the whole staff is super nice and have great classes! Whether it be a hip hop style of dance or a more contemporary style of dance they have many styles and each class is great! CKDC is a super great dance studio for dancers of all levels and the warm welcome everyone gives you is great. If you're looking to expand your dance knowledge, learn how to dance for the first time, or just have fun CKDC is the place for you! read more

The two stars are due to the facility, not the instruction. The class was fine, energetic and quick moving, and the instructor was very nice, but the space was not the cleanest. The restrooms left something to be desired as well. There was nowhere to change, and no lockers for your bags. I would recommend bringing only your keys inside. I would bring water too, the water container was empty. If you can come to class already in workout clothes you'll be fine, but this was not a good setup for someone coming from the office. read more

As a 20-something adult with tons of dance experience, but being out of the game for awhile, I've been searching for a dance studio to get plugged back in to the dance world. I was so excited when I found Consuming Kinetics Dance Company and tried the Zumba and Ballet class. I brought a friend along with me who had zero dance experience. We both felt like we fit into the environment. The teachers and dancers were so welcoming and encouraging. I don't know how they accomplish it, but whether you have years of dance experience or are wanting to try dance for the first time--you will fit right in! I truly didn't think that a dance studio like this existed in the St. Louis area. I feel like I found a hidden treasure! read more

I danced growing up but hadn't in years, so I thought I'd do a few classes for fun to get back into it again. CKDC quickly became one of my favorite places to go in STL. The classes are fun and energetic, but not too uptight - the whole point is to have fun. My favorite class was Beginner Hip Hop by Madison - she is the absolute best! Arica, who owns it, is also amazing and teaches a bunch of classes (I took Cardio Choreo - her version of Zumba, which was also super fun!). All of the other dancers there are fun and encouraging and always make the classes fun too! I'm moving away from STL for a job, and when people ask what I'll miss about it here, without a doubt I say CKDC. I wish I could pick up the studio and the people in it and bring them with me! read more
