With wedding bells less than seven months in our future (for our oldest daughter) and at least eight left feet among us, my husband, daughter, future son-in-law and I started taking weekly swing dance lessons at Just Dancing. And we are getting so much more out of the time spent there every Wednesday night than the triple swing and single swing skills. What we love: Our instructor: Jane The price: $10 per person per one-hour group lesson. Very reasonable. The flexibility: No contract. The other place we called to inquire about lessons suggested that we would need to spend a minimum of $500 to $1,000 per couple to get some customized, choreographed dance for the wedding. But in the long run, what would that do for any of us? We wouldn't have any new skills that we could use for the long term? We would just have one memorized dance to "perform" at a single event. None of us were really looking for that. The Fun: My daughter and her fiancé want to be able to dance together at their reception and they may practice some specific steps or choreography so they are comfortable, and the same goes for my daughter and her father, but really, we want to be able to dance together for years to come. Just Dance gets that. And they make it fun. We wanted help in preparing a father/daughter dance, a newlywed couple's dance and some brush-up couple's dancing for my husband and I, and we wanted to enjoy the process of learning those skills. Each week we show up and they practice what you've learned before, and maybe add a few new things. You can jump in any time, too. So on any given week in the beginners class (7 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesdays) there are folks who have never been to class and folks who come every week). Friendly staff/classmates: Everyone is friendly, non-judgmental and eager to help. We are making friends and anxious to try out our new skills at some of the local swing dance events. Next up? I had a chance to participate in a few salsa and bachata dancing socials at this place. It is spacious, the floor is great for dancing and mirrors are helping you improve your skills or embarrassment. This place is great for kids, adults, amateurs and professionals. This location might be far for some but it's worth the drive. I've seen a few amazing dancing performances of local and nationally recognized dancers at this place. I've taken ballroom (the waltz and cha-cha), hip-hop, and swing classes here, and loved all of them except the swing. My parents are decent swing dancers and I learned more from them in one session than I did here. However, the ballroom classes were awesome and I even ended up taking a workshop for cha-cha. The hip-hop instructors were also good, I just never had the time to return for more lessons. Prices are inexpensive, with lessons around $7 each. They let you pay as you go too, rather than forcing you to pay monthly like some studios. The classrooms are large and well-appointed, with plenty of mirror space. Since I take belly dance classes here from a teacher who rents studio space from Just Dancing, I can only review them on the strength of their facilities, not Just Dancing's ballroom dance classes. (though from what I've seen in passing, students seem to really enjoy them) They have 3 rooms, a ballroom, then two practice studios down the hall. they share the floor with an insurance company. The rooms have comfortable wood floors (we dance barefoot) and generous mirrors. Our class is in the studio at the end of the hall, and it has two big stereo systems (I don't really understand why two) and both of them have a bit of an occasional habit of skipping when playing CD's. I suspect, since both of them get such heavy use, that they are in need of cleaning. The one thing that always strikes us is that the studio is *cold*. I figure it's because the ballroom dancers dance in such close proximity to each other, they share body heat. I'm considering investing in some legwarmers and a cute warm up sweater to get me through those frigid first 10-15 min of class this winter. This is a great location for teachers looking to rent studio space, or if you're interested in taking any of the classes offered there (check their website for an up-to-date list) rest assured that the venue is practical and pleasant. read more

I spent over $1000 at just dancing studio trying to improve my swing dancing technique. In the end I was belittled and demeaned because I didn't want to convert to the tango or waltz. They wanted me to pay $1200 to a choreographer who didn't even know the first thing about swing dancing. So sad because Danyelle and Maysen are very good teachers and were enjoying getting into the finer points of swing dancin with me. Unless you tango or waltz, I highly suggest you find a different studio from Just Dancing. read more

Took an intro to salsa class here and loved it! Best thing is that all classes are pay as you go so you can just show up, pay cash, and take any class anytime. Instructor was great! They have all types of lessons from hip hop to yoga to ballroom, salsa, and Indian dancing. I can't wait to take more classes here! No experience needed!! read more
